Stars of the Lunken Airshow!
First it’s a TBF Avenger: Originally assigned to the Commencement bay class escort carrier, USS Siboney; who arrived in Pearl Harbor a day after hostilities ended with the Empire of Japan. This Avenger would later see life in the RCAF and then further still in various civilian capacities until she was bought by a collector who restored her.
The P-51D “Cincinnati Miss”:
Built from 3 original airframes, she represents a fighter of the 353rd Fighter Wing, 350th Fighter squadron. Although the examples of “Cincinnati Queen” have been seen on bombers, no known wartime examples of the “Miss” exist.
Lastly B-25 “Berlin Express”: originally built as an H variant, armed with a 75mm cannon in the nose, this aircraft lived its life in an executive role in Colorado during the war. But it’s claim to fame would come later as a movie star, in the 1970 movie: Catch-22
