They Used to be cute and need our help...

I know season 3 was disappointing for fans of Tai (all of us) and fans of Renee and Vince (mainly me) and we genuinely think we can do it better ourselves, but genuinely I still care about Tai and Aria and Vince and Renee and I mean... I guess I don’t want anything terrible to happen to Mana....  And Riley I still care about Riley and I’m genuinely worried about him trying to make a go of things with Gabrielle she’s toxic... And if we want any of those things addressed or fixed we need a season 3.  I NEED a season 3 (and I’d like Vince to end up with that newly vacant St I’s coaching position..).  I need season 3 like I need breathing.  And so many wrongs can be righted. But to have this happen we need nz on air to grant funding for season 3.  Renewal is not guaranteed and will be based in part on feedback. So hit up their insta: @nz_on_air, @southpacificpix, and @threenewzealandand on twitter:@NZonAir and @southpacificpix and tell them you want more people to see this show world wide and that you want a season 3.  That you need a season 3!  Also not a terrible idea to say that you think this show could have international appeal if it had more distribution... without advertising that many of us are international viewers.  ;) Because they used to be cute... and they can be again... but only with a season 3!

My issue with Head High this season (after episode 7) is no character aside from Renee is able in the same story as any of the other characters so we don’t have any idea about what is going on with them on the inside. Aside from hot blonde sex what is Mana getting from Frankie?  I genuinely don’t care and hate this story but maybe I might care a little if I had any idea what was in this serious bit of grossness from Mana and they’ve given me no reason to care about Frankie at all, NONE.   How has Mana met pop Grimsby and Tai who has been pretty much constantly with a Grimsby the whole time we’ve known him not?   What’s up with Aria’s diving?  Why did she manage less this year than she did last year when she took off significant time for death of boyfriend and pregnancy?  Does she care?   Did the cheerleading thing just stop being a thing (I think from a spoiler photo they maybe cheer at the finals.... but it hasn’t been mentioned in weeks)  Riley’s been living with other people for like a year now.  How does he feel about this?  NO idea.  He just goes along and does what Beatrix tells him and its fine. And Tai... aside from the Steven stuff which has been covered by pretty much everybody else... Jesse just fucked off his team without a word to Tai as far as I can tell.  Who has no feelings about that?  Tai.  Tai didn’t get feelings about it last week either.   Jesse’s got Mana a professional contract for the second year ina  row and if he’s done anything for Tai we haven’t heard about it.  Does Tai care?  He cared last year.   But this year?!?!?   Does Tai ever see Jesse off the pitch ever, I see no evidence of it but I have no idea.. but I don’t know.  When Vince is being an ass at least Lionel Wellington gets to look disapointed and when Vince isn’t being an ass (both times - I love Vince but I need him to show up for Tai at some point) Tai gets to look suspicious or confused.  But as for Jesse?  No idea what is going on with Tai.  None.   This show used to be a show about a family and the family members had relationships that allowed them to talk with each other about what was going on with them.  This season they are just people who live in the same house and sometimes pass each other in the kitchen.

Well he did get out of there PDQ afterwards...    He said he was going to make sure Aria got home alright, but since Aria didn’t get home until morning he clearly wasn’t going for that reason... but.. yeah I was expecting at least some looks.  Throw us a bone!

Advent Day 1: Sleepy Hollow: Etch A Sketch (G)

Warning: Last minute decision to do Advent this year, very unbetaed. Summary: Ichabod Crane experiences his first Etch A Sketch. Ichabod

Crane eyed the orange plastic contraption wearily. "Is that some sort of hand held computer device?"

"It is an Etch A Sketch."

"A tool used by your police artists then?"

"A children's toy." Ichabod wrinkled his nose and poked at it. "I see."

"It is a classic." Abbie offered.

"Nothing made of plastic qualifies as a classic." Crane argued. 

"Try it. You just turn the knobs. It won't bite." Abbie handed it to him.

Crane twirled one knob and then the other. "This device is only suited for drawing stairs. Thrilling." He rolled his eyes.

"It draws other things. You just have to…" She began twirling more quickly, looked at what she had drawn, and shook to clear the screen. "It takes practice."

Crane slid a piece of paper and pen towards her, "These are classics."

I liked a few bits but it’s certainly not a series I’m going to re-listen to. My favourite character pretty much only featured as a ‘comic device’ or as a figure whose existence is now defined by that of my least...

Maybe it is because Carolyn is my favourite character rather than Douglas but I didn't have quit the same reaction.   I thought Uskerty and Vaduz were amongst the best of the series.    I am relatively indifferent to Martin.   I like him fine but of the four main characters he's the one I'm least invested in.    And I can't say I love Martin now but I certainly don't have more ambivilence towards him now. Douglas is in an odd position in his career where he has less options open to him and I thought his pointing out how he could be teased to Arthur was a genuninely nice vulnerable moment for the character.   

I think some jealousy that Martin has places to go is warranted although I was not thrilled with the direction the last episode took with that regard   You have two characters in the winding down portion of their careers in that cockpit and I think there were more interesting ways to go with that.  I think Herc would prefer Carolyn ask him to stay but she's not going to so he is off to SA rather ambivilantly because he doesn't have other options and yet it is more options than Douglas has as he doesn't even have the Swiss Air job to fall back on.

But I must say that I feel like he would be more insecure with Herc in the captain's chair because being second to Martin is a bit of a lark.   It's irritating but Martin isn't a better pilot than him.   Being second to Herc is harder because I feel that they are as pilots probably equals.   Only Douglas has the history that gives him less options than Herc.  It is a harder pill to swallow.

in a mythical series five they have set up a lot of interesting places for Douglas to go as he and Martin evolve towards equals.    But we will see how that goes.    

i have seen a lot of indication though from some that they fell that everybody is getting a happy ending except for Douglas and I don't see how anybody is getting a happy ending except for Martin and he is terribly conflicted about it.    Herc is off to Switzerland.   Carolyn can't ask him to stay.   And if she does she risks him being miserable without his job and therefore deciding that it is her that makes him miserable.   If Martin leaves she folds MJN and then she can theoretically go off to be happy with Herc but I think it would be as hard for her to give up as being a pilot would be for him.
