I knew
I deserve
someone else,
but please
remember that
there were
moments in my life
when all I wanted
to have
was you.
Not anyone else
but you.

Hey! Check out my instagram dedicated specifically for my writing! It's the same as my url!
“But my sin was this, that I looked for my pleasure, beauty, and truth not in Him but in myself and His other creatures, and the search led me instead to pain, confusion and error.”
— Augustine
If
If you’re for me
I will tell you stories at night
I will sing you songs I write
I will make you a poem
I will hold your hand
In the middle of the crowd
But
If you’re for him
I won’t bother you
If you’re for him
I’ll pray for you both
The stories
The songs
The poems
I will keep them for myself
Because I love you
So I will try my best
To be the happiest man
With someone else

“Poetry is emotion put into measure. The emotion must come by nature, but the measure can be acquired by art.”
— Thomas Hardy
“You are not the woman you used to be. You have conquered all thus far, by the might of My strength, and I will continue to sustain you. I have called you out of the darkest place and brought you safe into my loving arms, returned to home once again. Cast away the old! Take on the new garment I have laid before you. I reach for you with My nail-scarred hands. I conquered the grave so that you may lay aside the pain of this world and take root in my love. You are Mine, and I will never let you go. The world around you may feel like rejection, fury, danger, unstable, and ever-changing; though fix your eyes on Me because I am never shaken. In Me, you will find forever security. I bent down and scooped you up off of the filth you once lied in. I have cleansed you and given you My righteousness to wear. Take rest in this, for it is freely given to you. I’ve loved you when you have least felt worthy to be loved. Forget the old, for I have also. I have no recollection of the past, I only see the future I have in store for you. Enlarge your tent, daughter, for I am about to give you surplus. Prepare. Open your vessels and hold out your hands. What you have lacked I am going to provide. You, My daughter, are My pride and joy, and it gives Me great satisfaction to give my child her desires according to My will. Wait expectantly for Me to work in your life. What others have said was impossible will see your Father is a God of possibilities. It is time to move forward. Walk with Me, hold My hand. Together we will walk through your journey, and I will never leave you. I know the road ahead. I know every bend, bump, and curve, and I see beyond what you can. With Me as your guide, you will not fail. I am with you always.”
— Jesus, the One who loves you unconditionally. (via imiracleamor)

“You‘ll regret it, you know. Not trying harder to make it work. You probably think she didn’t notice, but oh, she did from the very beginning. She picked up on your nervous habits the first time you met. Saw the way you caught your bottom lip between your teeth, how you constantly reached up to touch your nose. How your eyes flickered down to her lips when she spoke. When she pressed her head to your chest, she felt your heart thunder. There‘s no point in telling her that maybe what you felt wasn’t enough. That it wasn’t the same for you. That you weren’t sure about the two of you. You want to let her go, because she makes you feel things you’ve never felt before, and so you move on to pointless excuses. You find ridiculous reasons to drive her away from you. But she’s never been easy to fool. In an instant, she‘ll know you lied and she‘ll take it as her cue to leave without a fight. She won’t ask you to explain. She won’t call again. And you‘ll be the one to stay awake at night, wondering who she‘s spending her time with. Pondering about who took your place. And still, you’re not sure if the pain you’re feeling over losing her will fade in time. Your mistake is you think you know what it‘s like to get attached and you are convinced that the more you win in a short space of time, the more you‘ll have to lose. But it’s not the same with her. Your feelings for her were so intense, they scared you. You were absolutely terrified of what you would do for her. Was it worth it, I’m asking you now, sending her away because you knew you’d lose her anyway? I’m not saying holding on to her was easy: she was too reckless, too unpredictable, too emotional. She was a mess, but she was the mess that you wanted. So call her before it’s too late. Pluck up your courage and say what you’ve been wanting to say all along before she’s gone for good and no one’s around to watch the words die in your throat.”

I’d walk through Hell with him
Just to be by his side
Just to hold his hand
And tell him it’s gonna be okay
Even if it’s certainly not okay
We’d make it
Because it’s us, and we tend to always
Make it
He’s the rebel on the sidelines
Working his way to the frontlines
Fighting for the underdogs because he
Knows he strong enough to do it
And he knows that everyone needs
A voice
A helping hand
His smiles are ridiculously
Contagious
When he decides to reveal his teeth
His eyes crinkle up at the sides
And he looks truly happy
In that tiny infinity
He’s an epiphany
A moment of
Sudden realization
He’s the support of life as we
Know it
Like the stem of a rose
He looks out for me
And the way he loves is
Genuine and
Warm
He’s fucking brilliant
And I know he’ll achieve whatever
He puts his mind to
He’s the magic in myth
The starting point for something
Fantastical
If I were to relate him to something
On this precious planet of ours
I’d relate him to love
Love itself, the beautiful connection
You can have with people
That keeps you going when
Times get treacherous
When there’s a dead end ahead
But you fight to make your own goddamned path
Just for that connection
He’s a sketchbook full of ideas and concepts
As cheesy as that comparison is, for an artist
He’s driving on the wrong side of the road
Just to scare the Hell out of his
Uneasy passenger
Just to make her laugh
He’s taking pictures in a dimly lit car
Because you made him sit and talk to you
In the driveway
And you don’t want to forget that moment
That you had with him
Where it was peaceful, and silly, and
Precious
He’s the text you get at 4 am
When you’re both still awake
And telling each other to go back to sleep
Both parties, stubborn
So you talk about life instead
He’s the hugs where
Strong arms pull you against their chest
And hold you there for as long as you both need
Comforting, sweet
One of the first people I cried in front of
And the first person that told me I look beautiful
No matter what I’m wearing
Or how my hair looks
He’s one of the most important people in my life
And I’m beyond grateful to have him here
As my first thought for any event
Or a simple night out on the frozen town
I love him beyond any words I can put on a page

Her smile is absolutely radiant
Her being is absolutely radiant
Too powerful for any weak man
Too powerful for any weak soul
She’s the type of love where your arms
Ache to hold her
Because all you’d ever want was her by
Your side
All you’d ever want to see is the love in her eyes
And the conversations you’d hold
Would bring butterflies to your stomach
Because poets have silver tongues
That can build you palaces out of
Paragraphs
For your love to well up and rule
She’s coffee shops on cold days
The homey atmosphere of a tiny place
Filled with caffeine addicts that need to get something done
But would rather talk to the person in front of them
Instead of think of homework
She’s the green gardens that bloom when the weather
Breaks
Growth, rebirth
Aesthetically pleasing and everything you want to have
On your own
She’s perfect like midnight drives with the windows down
Freedom in a bottle
Drowsily giggling behind the wheel with someone you love
In the passenger seat
No destination in mind but enjoying the Hell out of the journey
She’s the Earth
She’s grounded, she’s your origin
She’s vast and complex, and all you’d want to do
Is explore her mind
Like you’d explore a temple in South America
She’s worldly and knowing
And she gives life a chance
She’s home in a woman
She’s putting a vinyl on the record and dancing on
Linoleum with your socks on at 3 am
Deliriously enjoying yourself because
Nothing else matters in that moment
She’s the Washington to my Hamilton
Someone I’ll always look up to
No matter how much we grow
Someone I trust with my life
Someone I trust with my world
She’s the best friend I pass poetry to
And talk to until we both fall asleep
Who listens to my incessant chatter about stupid men
And 90s R&B

Alexis
With eyes so bright that they can only be compared
To sunshine dancing on the calm ocean
Sparkling with hope and laughter
She’s always full of hope
Even for me
Even when I feel as if I’m at the end of my rope,
She’s there with a bright idea
And suddenly I’m laughing carelessly like
Nothing else possibly matters
With hair full of waves
Tawny with length for days
And that “swoosh” she’s so fond of
She’s pure silver
Ethereal, like the moon
There giving you the light so you can find your way
Right when you lose sight
Otherworldly
Not of this place
Beyond this place
Beyond you, or I
Even though she was born down to Earth,
With sunflowers pumping through her veins
When she’s in love
Blushing are her cheeks
And giggles are finding their way out
She’s twirling her hair and she’s an inch from
The man in question
She’s the wide smiles and the feeling of
Singing loudly in the car, having a
One woman show with the windows rolled down and
Nothing between you and getting what you want
She can show you the warmth of love and
She’s a leader for the generation
A healer for the masses
She’s the sweet sound of the guitar next to a crackling bonfire
Surrounded by the people you love, half-drunk underneath the stars
She’s laughing until your stomach hurts
And audacious movements in any direction you can perceive
She’s the warmth of hot chocolate on a bitter winter day
She’s the Sam to my Dean
The person I’d do anything to keep safe
The kindness brought forth by an onslaught of hardships
That she has never let get her down
The intelligence and the research, the hard work and heroism
She’s my best friend that taught me to forgive, and let go
She taught me to be brave in the face of the unknown
And although she’s always going to be a positive light
I know that she’s got my back in a fight
(Never forget the medics, you see)
I never knew what she saw in me on that first day of band
Maybe it was in some sort of unforeseeable plan
Thank God that she’s here in my life
So I can write her a poem with overused purple prose
But she’ll love me all the same
On this here Valentine’s Day
