STOP BOOMTOWN RATS NATION. CITIZENS OF BOOMTOWN. WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK BOB IS BAD AT LIPSYNCING .....
this is the thing iv seen the most about bob the bob and it isn't true !!! he's actually one of the only musicians iv ever seen embrace the format of things like top of the pops to convey a broader breadth of the song's meaning. he doesn't lip sync into the mic, sure, but in every video and totp and otherwise lip synced performance he's got Choreography and Outfits for the songs. he's lip syncing like a drag queen guys. he still gets basically all the words, in any case the big moments, and he directs the cameras to him he knows which camera is his n beckons it closer to him on specific lines to get the vibe across. every performance of someone's looking at you has a planned military look, a costume, he wears and invokes a specific atmosphere. every performance of i dont like mondays is serious, because the song is serious to him - the subject matter is something he cares about.
so he holds himself as if singing in a choir like as if he's on the altar, he hugs himself n closes his body language to himself - hands usually to his chest or hugging himself or holding his face/neck. the lighting shifts to be dark and lights only illuminate band members, he holds his breath and releases at all the right times . he has choreography for his songs and in music videos and otherwise he lip syncs in the way you'd see like a queen do a number in a club. he's genuinely a very good lip syncer he isn't afraid of the medium whatsoever he seems to use it as another way to express the song, a third or so layer to these singles. he's one of the best performers of the 1980s; he really understands his songs and how to convey them he delivers a Full Package every single time
wotcha, trash glam nation!! i reckon i’ll start posting more gig videos since yous seem to enjoy them.
here’s one of my favourite people on the planet showing off LMAO
TIP TOE • 1.01
i'm reaching out with an attempt for mutual aid as we have a goal of 150 dollars which i believe is possible to raise given time and patience. i love you all very much thank you for even reading this. right now we are unable to keep with our sources of income due to not being able to pay for our internet, so we have been without resources to pay for anything which is oncoming and it is only going to get worse. we also have lost medications we have been on for over a decade due to rapidly changing policies around healthcare within southern states in the united states. WE NEED HELP SERIOUSLY TO GET OUT OF THIS AND TRY OUR BEST TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING. please if you see this, reblog it and thank you for anything and everything you may be able to do. peace and a big big love to everyone.
i had to be rushed to the hospital this morning on account of loosing ability to move my head/neck and left leg from the back injury aforementioned. I NEED 70USD TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE PAIN MEDICATIONS NEEDED TO WALK/SLEEP/ETC
please share please help if you can this is an emergency situation !!!
It’s Pride Month Eve, so leave out some milk for Freddie Mercury and his cats.
Time for the annual Pride Month reblog of Freddie Mercury and his fabulous cats!
BOOMTOWN FIELD REPORT: roscommon edition!!
wotcha, trash glam nation! your good friend and correspondent is BACK in action!
after months of counting down the days until the next gig, it feels bloody good to be on the road again. the rats have played yet another killer show as part of the night & day festival last sunday. a delicious 90-minute set, a handful of surprises and the gig-typical chaos - you know the drill. enjoy an assortment of photos from yours truly - this time, taken on my fancy camera!! because i ought to take it out more often.
lough key forest park, roscommon, 31st of may.
the two powerhouses, darren beale and paul cuddleford on guitars, shredding like there's no tomorrow!!
bob and pete, a duo for the ages!!
highlight of the gig: the fabulous imelda may has joined the boys onstage for "she's so modern"!! mad flashbacks to the hot press gig.
giving the people what they want, which is more pictures of pete briquette, of course.
my GOAT alan dunne on keys with derek o'connor on sax, during a rather groovy rendition of "banana republic". also featuring: the cheery smiley barnard on drums!
i don't think i'll ever get tired of doing this - i'm approaching my 10th rats concert (this july, believe it or not!) and i'm not winding down anytime soon. every time i see the guys live, it always feels like the very first. the sheer joy i get from hearing these songs again and again is really hard to descibe, so just believe me - it was an electrifying time all around. and the crowd was going abso-fucking-lutely mental - at a family festival, nonetheless!!
one of my favourite parts about going to the shows has got to be eavesdropping on the other concert goers after the gig. seasoned rat fans, fresh converts, people who've never heard of the band before - everyone's raving about just how bloody good they are - 50 years, going stronger than ever! i was hanging around the merch stand and overheard a handful of families come around asking for child-size rats tees. so imagine the joy on the little guy's face when they pulled out the last extra-small shirt - the kids are alright!!
BOOMTOWN BONUS: another exciting addition to my collection of "she's so modern" dances, featuring the queen of ireland herself! (oh, and imelda may was there too. /j)
