hey hi! welcome! this is mostly just a page for us to share aesthetics and stuff we like, rather than be a full-blown place to talk about plural-related stuff, though we may occasionally post that? who knows :P anyways uh enjoy your stay!

we are the bytes, a plural system of [currently] 16.5! we refer to ourselves as bytes, prefer plural as a term, and use alt instead of alter or headmate! its cuz our main host is computer themed lol

no syscourse plz, this is not the place for it. we are neutral.

we use name.png for posts related to an alter, and emojis for when someone made the post! we will typically not use emojis on rbs

carrd if anyone wants to see it, but for a quick intro:

mischief- host, it/they/e/he, glitch/bird. who you're talking to a majority of the time. silly little guy who loves birds and neon colors.🪽

jay- cohost/fictive (jay walker ninjago), he/they, werewolf. most of the time indistinguishable from mischief, but is way rantier. good for his health to complain. considers himself rogue's brother.⚡

portia- dominant, he/him, vampire. aristocratic vampire with an ego the size of jupiter. massive flirt, loves to tease, hates emojis. 🖤

autopilot- cassmate, it/its, tv head robot. responsible for ctrl+f5-ing our emotions whenever things get overwhelming. our ".5" alt. 📺

eris- semi-fictive (oc)/hostlike, any, demon. lulu's twin, partially introjected from one of my ocs (who later split lol). stealthily indistinguishable from the hosts, but has a mellower sort of vibe. 👑

lulu- age slider little, she + maybe they/it, snow leopard demon. eris' twin. sweet and bubbly and can go down to being a kid, but is pretty childish by default. loves the creepy cute vibe. has a knife. 🎀

ben- fictive (ben tennyson omniverse (specifically ov)), he/xe/they/⧗, human bug guy. hates everything to do with romance. extremely connected to his source and acts almost one to one like him. is a cartoon character irl. 🟢

kehilos- god thing, He/Him or It/Its, ball of eyeballs and wings and teeth. calls Himself the dawnbreaker. a fear god who doesn't talk out loud and is bad at peopleing but He has good posture. 👁️

the monstrosity- guilt holder, he/him, cursed ex-human fish guy. an old sailor permanently stuck at sea. like if a noir film was about a pirate instead of detectives. gruff, but cares. ✒️

rogue- fictive (rogue ninjago)/anger holder, he/they, werewolf. spawned from jay, most touch-averse byte. growlier and more of a beast. flirty if he feels like it. considers himself jay's brother. 🌩️

lux- fictive (oc), it/they/he, demon. the oc that eris and lulu spawned from, but now they're here for real. proud and british, possibly the only one here who's gay. has been absorbed into the demon family.🕯️

flicker- caretaker, they/it, fairy. naive, sweet, and feminine, but older than they look and act. a manifestation of childhood innocence. really likes to sleep, and is mad at us for having a terrible sleeping schedule. fronts rarely. 💗

arabellə- traumaholder little/middle, any, resurrected imp experiment thing. they like cookies and cookie run and are very shy and small. he seems to like horror movies a lot too. 🍪

phillippe- cohost/fictive (phillippe look outside), he/it, fungus mold monster. we The Charactered too close to the mold spores. swears a LOT. is a gamer. really likes his source and mushrooms. handles a lot of the shit the hosts can't.🍄

frigid- cassmate, she/her, lake spirit. you won't see her. both the frozen lake and the spirit living inside it. ❄️

sly/stiles- partial fictive (stiles+kira teen wolf), they/hi/it, fox / kitsune. just an innocent little guyyyy. very butch. REALLY likes bones. 🎴

xyrexis/xyr- masker/hostlike, n/a or it/its, shell containing void. identical to jay and mischief to the point where we couldn't tell it was here. acts normal :) 🎭

keystone- task-doer, any, deerthing. WE LOCK THE FUCK IN. 🦌

I do wanna ask, how are your friends able to know who's fronting, or like in that one comic about the going to school, then new alter popping in front of your friends... how do you all handle this?

typically the way our friends know who's fronting is simplyplural, though we're figuring out what to switch to once the servers go down. and for friends who aren't connected to that, we typically use a proxy in server's we're comfortable proxying in (personally we prefer tupperbox over pluralkit), or we just say outright.

usually if we switch mid-convo, we just flash an emoji or say our name so our friends can tell a switch happened! we're big on direct communication, we don't like beating around the bush lol

we also sometimes have a lot of subtle switches where we can't tell someone fell out until we're acting distinctly not like them, and communicate it basically as soon as it happens :0

some of us suck at keeping it a secret from our friends who aren't really in plural spaces tho. like ben going "i'm ben ten real" in front of ppl djkgfhkdjfgh thanks man

the idea of headmates needing to be distinct is so pervasive. even in the plural community here, there feels like theres this unspoken expectation that being plural involves very distinct and discrete personality states. or at least that you should be able to make a pk that has all of your headmates. because all headmates should have a name and discrete identity apparently. i dont hate pk but it definitely reinforces that idea that systems need to be structured in a specific way

it leads to a lot of hurt. a lot of people fighting their brains to try to fit into a specific idea of plurality. or just deciding they cant be plural or that they arent plural enough

basically everyone i know who is plural can give some specific number of headmates they have and all their names. and like that's great if thats how it works for them. but i wonder how many of them are hurting themselves to categorize themselves like that

also like it's ok for the structure of your system to be unclear. its ok if you dont understand how it works. its ok if you dont even feel that system is the right word for it. theres so much diversity in how plurality presents itself and there is no such thing as not plural enough or whatever
