Never ever ever think about anything hyperfixation related while you're trying to get shit done. Everything has gotten paused bc the idea of a "garroth never runs away from okhasis" au popped in my head and now I'm thinking about that instead of my essay I need to finish

It's such a fun thing to think on. Like I know how much of the dynamic of early Phoenix drop centers on Garroth but his absence is SO felt in this au. Like. Does Zenix even stay in Phoenix drop as long as he does without garroth there? If he does, he would be the main one showing Aphmau around, and would that change their entire dynamic? Why does vylad even come to Phoenix drop? Is there a reason he picked a random little village to summon Aph in? Without garroth there, imo the isn't a whole bunch of reason for him to be there. Laurance and Aph have a whole different dynamic, as more than likely he becomes her head guard after he returns from the nether (as dale is close to retirement). Zane would probably be more fucked up on account of the living in his brothers shadow again. It's just. So crunchy I am having sm fun chewing on it

Not to mention how unbelievably fucked up this version of garroth would be. You think regular mcd is repressed? He's got NOTHING on this dude. This garroth hasn't let himself feel and process an emotion since that one time he considered running away at guard academy. It would take a full on wrecking ball to get that man's walls down. Without garroth, I think more than likely Laurmau would have gone canon, just with how we know the characters to be. The only reason Laurance and Aph don't get together in season two is bc laurance wants to wait for Garroth. However, on account of the mcd law that states that these three cannot be normal about each other, what would definitely happen would just be like. Aphmau and Laurance see the sad "prince" of okhasis who clearly hates his life and represses every emotion he has and go "oh we need to be a throuple with him right fucking now"

sometimes u headcanon a character as a sexuality but then also ship things that contradict that. sometimes you ship things you would NEVER EVER want in canon. this is because these things are fun and silly and not legally binding.

Yeah I don't know where some people got this idea that fanfic is always like, auditioning to replace canon or being posited as "better" than canon, as opposed to people just borrowing the characters to play with in the sandpit for a while before putting them back in their box

Watching s2 of MCD again has given me an interesting new perspective on Aaron. After he adopts Lilith, he talks about how he doesn’t want to leave her without a father.

My first thought when I saw him say this was: Aaron, you absolute hypocrite.

Then I took a few hours to properly think about it.

Aaron full-heartedly believes he failed Jacob. That he failed his people when Zane killed them. He is terrified that he will fail Lilith too.

But there is a perfectly suitable (in his eyes) father trapped in the Irene Dimension.

Everyone (at least from my understanding— I could be very, very wrong) frames his death as revenge, with Garroth being saved as a side perk, but what if it was the opposite?

What if his intent was to save Garroth, to give Lilith a father? Killing Zane and himself were just added bonuses for him.

Everything Aaron has ever done was for his children, and in the end, he failed them like he always thought he would.

I think its so funny to imagine laurance (psychoanalist who tells other people your business) and zenix (cant stand to have a mushy feeling for even five seconds and incredibly petty) working together. Laurance would imply out loud that Zenix misses Garroth and suddenly Zenix is telling everyone exactly how they torture people in the nether fortress

Quick reminder if you're getting a knight to protect something important ALWAYS get two. It's good to keep your knight stimulated and socialized if it's staying there for long periods of time. And you get the added benefit of having one tell the truth and the other lies.

- m/f ship between a nonblack man & a Black woman

- it's either canon (e.g. mel/jayce arcane, arthur/guinevere bbcmerlin) or entirely plausible (e.g. prism or coupé/robert dispatch)

- fanbase overwhelmingly pairs nb man off with another nb man and disengages from the Black woman character, shunting her into a background wise & sassy caretaker role (for which there is a name) or leaving her out of fanworks entirely

- fans who do this ^ claim it is an expression of love and admiration for the Black woman character, actually, bc the nb man (who may be her canonical partner) "can't handle all that" (he may be perfectly competent and engaged; she may be totally low maintenance; it has no bearing), she's just too wonderful (too much) and out of his league (lacking in flaws and interiority and fan appeal)

have we all observed this and can we see the multiple dimensions in which it is racist ☝️ i'm not bringing it up to make any beautiful fujos feel bad abt shipping this or that, just to ask for some consideration of what ppl are saying abt Black women when they make their excuses to each other. like you can just not make the excuses. yk?

really love a corruption arc where the character is trying way too hard to make it work but they're in over their head and it's uncomfortable and embarrassing and they're swallowing their own puke every time they do something awful and damp with sweat and trembling but insistent that they can do this, they want it, they're not a child, but it's like they're playing dressup in clothes that are too big for them and trying to convince their own reflection in the mirror that they fit and it's just no fun to watch at all
