Instead of hyper focusing on how Tommy called out for Philza when he was in Panic Mode, lets instead focus on the fact that he called out for People That He Trusts.

Not because of family ties, but because he’s a kid and he latches onto those who’ve turned a blind eye to his suffering or simply Didn’t Know About It because he’s a child. He’s young and he doesn’t know what to do, so he reaches out for those who Do.

Sam is the warden, he should know what to do. Philza is wise and knows his way around mechanics, he should know what to do.

It’s not about Tommy calling out for his Father Figures, it’s Tommy calling out for those who Know What To Do. He’s looking for someone who can get him out, not someone to comfort him. His safety and him being Away From This Situation is the first thing on his mind.

Remember when Techno n him went back to Logstedshire? How Techno Led Tommy Away from the area because he knew something was wrong? It’s like that. That’s what Tommy knows.

He knows how to run, and he knows that if he asks (usually) someone will get him out of the area. Away From The Problem.

He still cares for Techno, and he knows that Techno lead him away from that area For A Reason. So he’s assuming the same here.

TL:DR shut the fuck up about c!phil and pay attention to how Tommy is retaining this information and how he handles this problem the same way Techno did way back when

Tommy’s is canonically:

- Claustrophobic (Hinted at throughout the seasons confirmed during the Pogtopia arc)

- Afraid of lava (Confirmed by Tommy’s first prison visit)

- Conditioned to want to treat Dream like a friend (Confirmed by most recent stream)

- Triggered by Dream acting nice to him (Confirmed when he admits this to Tubbo during Doomsday)

- Has trauma associated with obsidian (Confirmed this stream)

- Has server trauma from exile, specifically pre-teaming with Techno (Proof is the entire exile arc and re-confirmed again today’s stream)

- Tired to commit suicide during exile (The exile arc) 

Now he is trapped in a small obsidian box next to massive amounts of lava while Dream is trying to get them to bond and ‘’be friends’’. Dream wants things to be just like exile.
