Not that anyone cares, but I've decided to quit the RP. It was a blast writing with all of you guys, but it ran its course, and I felt as if I've gotten as much as I could have from this group.

Sapphire’s head keeps swiveling up and down. She wants to look up, but knows she’ll get dust in her eyes if she does. It is a struggle between emotion and logic, and logic is losing. Before she can half-look up again, Jim’s voice catches her attention. Her blue eyes fix on Jim’s face instead of the ceiling and she nods quietly. She wants to be happy for Jim. Sapphire knows she ought to be thrilled for him. Instead, Sapphire finds it difficult to feel anything. Maybe it’s shock or just her mind’s way of shutting out the horror of the situation but Sapphire is struggling to feel anything at all. Nothing but the compulsion to look up.
Getting to her feet is a nice distraction. It felt like Jim and her had only been talking a short while but her legs tingle at the movement. For a movement Sapphire wonders if she’s going to fall. In some little part of her brain she notes that it would be really embarrassing if that happened. Not that Sapphire can find the energy to particularly care. But she doesn’t fall and she lets Jim lead the way to his cousin. After all, she didn’t see him.
As she’s getting up Jim mentions the Jews. Her numbness keeps her face from visibly reacting with revulsion. If this was a safe place, she thinks, there would be Jews here. Nothing crosses her face except the slightest tightening of her expression. What was happening to the Jews, just wasn’t Christian. And if anyone ought to be standing up for them. It was the Christians. Yet they stayed quiet. Everyone stayed quiet. Either you agreed or you were silent or you ended up like them. Sapphire understood why no one said anything, but still.
We’re all going to Hell for allowing this happen, she thinks darkly.
Her eyes dart up and then back to Jim’s face, “If you say it’s safe, then it’s safe,” she replies, as if things really are that simple. They aren’t, and Sapphire knows that. Perhaps Jim thinks she’s stupid or foolish. Sapphire can’t find it in her to really care. Still, pretending is nice and really, what else is she supposed to say?
Even though it's only been about half an hour or so, Jim finds it incredibly hard to find the energy to get up and stand. His legs wobble as he tries to both regain his balance and catch up with Sapphire. The people curled up around him don't help the situation, either. He can feel their angry eyes burrowing into him from all angles, stinging right through his clothes, burning into his skin. They mark profanities as he carefully steps around them, strings of words that nobody has the courage to say out loud. They scream Geh ein schwanz lutschen and Geh zum Teufel. Wertlos kind and Du Hurensohn..
When Sapphire turns back to look at him, the expression on his face is one of pure guilt. Rage and torment flashing over his looks as he locks eyes with the girl. He shouldn't be saying such things about the Jews in front of her. He shouldn't be saying anything about them to anyone period. He shouldn't be lying to her, either; Treating her like the child she used to be. Sapphire was a grown girl now- Almost a women. It was time for Jim to start treating her like one.
He passes her, steeping in front to lead the way to his cousin. He was seated on the far wall, thin, pale hands wrapped protectively around an older female. He couldn't tell through the dark hair in front of her eyes, but Jim was almost positive that she was sleeping. "Guten Morgen, Marko," He greeted when he was close enough for Marko to hear him. The man against the wall looked up, lips turned upwards faintly as he squinted against the ashes falling. He waved once with the hand that was not wrapped around the girl. "This is Sapphire." Jim motioned behind him, urging Sapphire to come and step next to him.

As the rubble rains down, Jim covers Sapphire’s body with his own. She curls in on herself, trying to be as small as possible in case big rubble starts falling. It doesn’t though, and Jim slowly rises off of her. He stays very close though, and always has some part of his body touching hers. The fact that he is nervous and so defensive puts her on edge. With his weight off of her, Sapphire sits up a bit straighter. Her eyes burn from the rubble, so she doesn’t look up again though she wants to. She’s afraid she’ll see a cracked ceiling and maybe it’s better not knowing.
Jim starts to speak and Sapphire blinks owlishly pulling her fractured thoughts together to focus on what he’s saying. He says he doesn’t mean to frighten her but that is exactly what he does. Sapphire feels a tight knot of anxiety tighten within her. She doesn’t know what he means when he says he’s had enough.
“Well, I don’t think they’d see our white flag from down here…” Sapphire says quietly. She tries to smile but it comes out more like grimace It’s a poor joke but his seriousness is scaring her and she doesn’t know what else to do but try to make light of their situation, “Your friend said that the shelters are safe, right?” Sapphire asks rhetorically, “Do you think he was just saying that…?” Sapphire holds Jim’s opinion very highly (in matters that do not concern her at least). If he doesn’t think the shelters are safe she doesn’t know what she’ll do, “There’s nothing we can do regardless, just sit here…”
Jim chuckles lightly at Sapphire's small joke. But truth be told, he wasn't in the joking mood as of late. He sighed as he continued to look around the basement, catching a few eyes as he oscillated his head to and fro. A man, around the same age as Jim was, raised his head above the crowd, something sparking in his eyes as Jim paused to meet his gaze. He smiled in glee, happy to know that another relative of his had made it safe and sound to the shelter. "My cousin made it," He commented, mostly to himself, but speaking loud enough so that Sapphire could hear him. "Maybe he knows where your family is at. After those sirens go off again, we'll go over, hm?" The offer was mainly to keep the girl's mind off of the bombs, but also to ease her sufferings for the time being. A little hope never caused any trouble.
Jim's jaw clenched. "Of course," He lied, putting on a smile. "We wouldn't be down here if they weren't." It pained him greatly to say his next couple words. "Jews would be here if this wasn't a safe haven." It hurt, but he had to play along. Soldier's wives were hiding down here around the pair, and he knew better than to speak highly of them with their watchful ear listening in.
Is anybody willing to dish out five quid?
[Anna smirked] Yeah, I guess that is true [she listen to his words and she beamed] Thank you too for your trust, and the blade you have is from an old Egyptian tomb that humans though was a normal knife so it is not exactly mine.and I thought you would like it since it was given to Tutankhamen as a peace offering from a witch. too bad he trusted her, that what truly killed him.[she gave him a sad smile then gave the bartender the money for the drinks] Anyway, we are friends so I trust you to not try and send me away, so here it goes I hope I won’t regret this. [She took a paper and started drawing on it then passed it to him] angel sigil, it banishes every angel from this place it had to be drawn with blood and then you press on it. it will weaken us and give you enough time to run. use it wisely.
[Jim's eyes narrowed when she said that Tutankhamen's trust is what killed him, because, hey, wasn't that what he was doing right now? Trusting- while not completely- this angel not to kill him? He faked a small laugh, and took a small sip of his drink. He watched Anna draw on a piece of paper, trying to figure out what words she was writing as her hand moved around and around on the white surface. After realizing that she wasn't drawing words, but symbols, he tilted his head to the side in confusion.] Seriously? [He asked, taking the paper and sliding it in front of him.] That's a thing? You just cut yourself and draw this? N-No rituals or whatever? Just finger painting? [Jim laughed to himself.] That's genius..
