( caterina scorsone, female, she/her, forty-four ) look who goes there! is that genevieve laurent? i’ve seen them often around the saddle grove, which may be because they are a florist @ the daisy chain. they’ve been in town for seven years and i’ve known them to be compassionate but also guarded. for some reason, ceilings by lizzy mcalpine reminds me of them, as well as dog-eared novels, rain-speckled windows, oversized knit cardigans, fresh lavender, fountain pens, and warm golden lamplight.

Genevieve and Lila have been spending an awful lot of time together and she really enjoyed the woman’s company. Not only was she drop dead gorgeous but she is also one of the most successful people in bear creek due to the fact that she owns her own restaurant. Gen had finished cleaning her place up and ordered a dozen roses for the other to be delivered to her place for when she arrived and picked up her phone and texted the other. “Hey gorgeous, you coming over tonight.”? She asked and hit send.

gen smiled and looked over at the other before nodding. “Ahh, I see.” I have the perfect arrangement for you then.” She said and took a nice bouquet of sunflowers and brought them over to the other and placed the vase on the counter. “What do you think of these, if not you can pick something else.”

one thing gabriela had never understood was why someone had decided that flowers had to mean a certain thing, or which ones meant what, but she figured asking someone who obviously knew about it was better than guessing. as genevieve went to gather up a flower, she studied one of the other arrays of flowers, mostly sizing them up by color and which ones were the prettiest until the other woman was presenting a bouquet to her. "what do sunflowers stand for?" she questioned, unable to stop her curiosity now that she was here. "i always thought of them as being happy, or you know, something you'd give to a friend. a nice gesture, but not really romantic, right?"

She nodded softly. “Sunflowers represent happiness, loyalty and resilience.” She said with a small nod as she looked over at the other. “But if you want something romantic I’d suggest the roses I know it’s not an option you wanted to go with.”

“I suggest the colors but you go with whatever you wanna do.” She said with a small nod as she went and picked out some of the sunflower arrangements she had made before grinning. “What ones do you like the best.”?

"Well...  sunflowers  were  my  reason  for  coming  in,  but..."  Her  lips  twisted  as  her  eyes  surveyed  the  options.  "I  definitely  want  more  than  that."

Smiling  over  at  the  shop  owner,  taking  note  of  what  Genevieve  was  working  on,  she  shrugged.  "Anything  that  screams  summer  and  will  brighten  things  up."

“I prefer summery flowers more than winter myself.” She said with a chuckle as she pointed to another summer arrangement thst she had made yesterday and though it was basic it was still pretty. “What about these over here, I added some lilies in it and also I have a pretty sunflower arrangement as well.”

After parking her car and making her way inside she walked up to the counter and glanced up at the menu board and tapped her finger against her chin and figured out what she wanted. Once her selection was made she ordered and laid before stepping aside to let the next customer order. “Oh I didn’t see you there.” She said with a nod before smiling sweetly. “How are you.”?

     ◦     ˒     (  ꕀ  )       despite having coffee and sweets in her own business,  cordelia liked to visit pour decisions from time to time.   she liked the idea of having a cup of coffee without worrying about the clientele,  or about making sure her employees were doing okay.   hence,  here she was,  in the queue to get a double espresso she was ready to order when amani’s voice interrupted her.   she would be lying if she said the intermission didn’t irritate her a bit,  yet she managed to get past it and answer as cordially as possible.   “   yeah,  i noticed,   ”   okay,  considering her dry tone,  she wasn’t very successful.   she continued anyway.   “   i’ve been doing okay—a double espresso,  please—,   ”   she ordered when she felt the cashier’s impatience behind the counter,  and prepared her phone to pay.   “   what about you ?   how’s the hospital treating you ?   ”

“It’s been pretty busy but rewarding honestly since I’m able to save lives.” She said with a small nod before looking to her. “I had a rare day off today so I figured I’d take advantage of it and get out and enjoy the day since it’s so warm out.” She said with a nod before taking a small sip of her coffee.

it  was  becoming  habitual.  this  daily  afternoon  treat,  a  cappuccino  edie  was  waiting  on  —  partly  a  justification  to  give  herself  an  excuse  to  get  free  of  her  office  walls  for  a  break,  though  also  perhaps  her  beginning  to  face  and  accept  she  couldn't  make  it  through  a  full  day  anymore.

James was pretty sure at this point that he was only functioning because of his endless coffee intake. So it came to no surprise as he found himself at yet another coffee shop, ordering what was most likely his fourth or fifth cup of the day. Not that he could really remember what number this one would make. His eyes scanned the menu, trying to figure out what the hell he even liked to drink , if her preferred sweet or something stronger, well, he wasn't even all that for sure. So per usual, he settled on a black coffee, getting ready to step up to order, giving the other a grin in return. "It's alright. And I'm okay- can't complain. How are you?"

hearing the greeting as soon as she walked into the shop, gabriela was grateful that it wasn't too busy since she would definitely need some guidance. "so disclaimer: i don't know a thing about flowers, other than some of them being pretty to look at." she stated, giving the woman a small smile despite how hopeless she was. "if i wanted to get someone a bouquet of something other than red roses, but still with the same meaning, what would you suggest?"

"I  was  thinking  sunflowers  myself,  so...  with  two  votes  I'm  gonna  grab  them  for  sure.  Daisies..."  Consideration  pushed  out  her  lips  and  popped  her  brow  up.  "They're  cute."

Moving  over  to  the  collection  of  sunflowers  her  eyes  scanned  around.  "Should  I  do  more  color  or  stick  with  yellow  and  white?"

“I suggest the colors but you go with whatever you wanna do.” She said with a small nod as she went and picked out some of the sunflower arrangements she had made before grinning. “What ones do you like the best.”?

a hum escaped rosanna's lips as she entered the establishment, the aromas filling her nostrils immediately making her regret being a few minutes late to lunch. deep brown eyes scanned the sea of patrons until a familiar face caught up her attention, a small smile forming on her lips as she approached the occupied table as quickly as her already tired legs allowed her to. "gen, i'm so sorry i'm late— i don't come empty-handed if that makes it better" she mused, placing a neatly wrapped fountain pen in front of the other as she took a seat in front of the other. "i just got out of a meeting and i won them a case for intelectual property so, lunch is on my boss" the attorney explained as she settled into her seat, eyes gentle on the other. "but how have you been? ready to order?"

raleigh had spent a significant amount of time and money in the florists: always on the brightest, softest, prettiest flowers for rosanna. he adored seeing the smile on her face when she saw them in their best crystal vase in the living room and as it widened when he told her that the flowers weren’t as beautiful as she was.

“i’d like your biggest, most impressive bunch of roses, please,” raleigh answered, leaning against the counter with a proud smile. “they’re for a very special lady.”

he eyed the selection of roses after a moment of though, he quickly added, “oh, could i get half red and half pink? strangely, i don’t think i’ve had that combination yet.”

He figured he would lose either way, but something was better than nothing, so he wandered into a flower shop. The attendant wasted no time, and Victor ran his hand over his beard as he looked around.  “ Hey, morning. “ He offered as he made his way to the counter. “ Yeah, uh, you got a flower that means “ Ma, sorry I didn’t give you grandchildren and that you can’t brag about my career anymore but please don’t cut me out of the will and also ‘Happy Birthday, love you lots’?”
