Drawing the M9 was easier, there were fewer composition challenges. This time I had to keep track of who can’t stand whom (Anders turned out to be the biggest problem heh). It was a lot of fun, though!

Weirdly, the more bored and resigned I sound about getting a medical thing checked out the more efficiently they check it out. Like, "Hi, I have had 4 pulmonary emboli and I'm having leg pain which is probably not a clot but I'd feel very stupid if it was and I didn't get it checked out."

ER doctor: you mean if I just send you for a leg ultrasound right now and it's clear you'll leave?

Me, picking up my book: yeah, I'm just gonna read until we get it done

Fastest ER visit ever (it was not in fact a clot but I sure would have felt dumb if it had been)

Or, "hey so this test result came back weird and so I think we have to rule out a benign pituitary tumor."

The more specific I get with what I need the faster they order tests. For the RA diagnosis it was, "hey this is probably some weird post viral arthralgia but could we do an arthritis panel since I've got 27 affected joints?"

If the doctor says something dismissive or they don't know, I ask for them to refer me to someone with more expertise in this area.

I had to go through three different practices to find a spinal surgeon who did not tell me that operating on me would be too dangerous because I'm fat. But the third one was like, "Oh, I'm not worried about you coding, there's just a risk that it won't work. But it has a hundred percent failure rate if we don't try."

I did not code. The surgery worked. Was it perfect? No. Did it drastically improve my quality of life? It gave me my fucking life back. I can sit. I can be out in the world and not in blinding pain.

It is so important to not take dismissals and such as the final answer. I got so much bullshit for so many years. It nearly killed me twice, people blowing off clots as muscle pain or "depression".

Track your symptoms. Make a list. Talk about how it affects your quality of life. Ask for physical therapy, ask for second opinions. If you have an idea of what might be wrong, ask them to help you rule it out. Also ask for patient assistance, nonprofit hospitals have it. You might have to go through their labs and their doctors but it can cover an awful lot.

Take a friend with you, or a family member. My pcp asks if I want a chaperone (I don't) but literally having an extra person with you can help.

Being me feels like a full time job sometimes, medically, but no one else is stepping up to it, you know?

Here's my real tip for anyone moving out on their own for the first time; when you buy a set of measuring cups or spoons buy ones that have the measurement engraved into the cup/spoon and do NOT buy ones where it's just printed on. Because that ink/paint/ect. can rub off and then you'll have a bunch of useless little spoons and cups you have to get rid of bcs they no longer say what size they are. Don't ask me how I know, just trust me that you wanna buy engraved ones.

Also was yet again talking to my partner about DA and he was like: idk you would think the Orleasian Wardens would at this point just assume Ferelden did something fishy about the Blight and they are using it to keep them out.

And to be fair like- imagine that the Blight has been stopped in a year. In a country that first banished the Wardens, then let them in again only to accuse them of murdering their king. So the Blight was stopped in a year by 2 new recruits from Ferelden. And neither one of them died. The only elaboration on the subject they provide basically amount too "IDK I am god's favourite princess I guess". And then. When you send in reinforcments to the arling the Wardens were gifted. They all die immediately. Ambushed by talking, thinking darkspawn- which darkspawn aren't supposed to do- MOMENTS before Hero of Ferelden's arrival.

Like- the conspiracy basically writes itself at this point. There has to be at least a coupld of Orleasian Wardens who have theories about the Archdemon not really being dead and the queen/king keeping it in her basment or some shit, using some messed up darkspawn bloodmagic to keep Orleasians out of their country. Which, if you consider the existance of Kieran... they would not be completely crazy for this either.

Drawing almost every Dragon Age character — Part 21, Nathaniel Howe

Out of all available Dragon Age DLCs the Awakening is my second favourite after Jaws of Hakkon and that is mostly due to the amazing companions we get. Each and every one of them is perfect in their own way to the point that this dlc made me truly connect with dao and my Warden the way the main game couldn't. I wish we had a whole game with them and not just one DLC.

Nathaniel Howe, my beautiful grumpy boy, has never left my party since the moment I found him. That man singlehandedly clearing his family name by just existing and being an honorable man that he is.
