I love how whimsical Noah and Shawn are.

Noah’s whimsy comes through in his body language. The little bounce on the heels. The hands-in-the-air gesture when he reacts to things. His “we can swear in the show cuz it’s HBO (fuuuuuuck)” on that one interview. And more recently the photo of him, body leaning to the side and one heel in the air.

Shawn’s whimsy lies more in the way he talks. His tweets, his interviews, the way he was all giddy doing the Quinn gig. The famous pb&j ASMR. His witty remarks and the fact that he always knows what to say at panels and talks to make people genuinely smile and laugh even if the question was thrown at him in an unexpected way.

I’m sure these are just tip-of-the-iceberg mentions to the collection of moments where their whimsy side shines through. And it’s so endearing when this giddiness brings up visible joy on their faces. Noah and Shawn both look younger when they have a hearty laugh.

And what’s absolutely beautiful and fascinating is that they both managed to carry this sense of whimsy into how they portray Robby and Abbot.

We see Robby excusing himself to baby Jane Doe when he leaves the room. Waking up Santos with that glove slingshot. Him saying “motorcycle is zoom therapy”, his bedside manners and the light small talks he makes (most of them occurred before 9am in the show when Robby was not yet worn out lol).

We also see Abbot doing his pep talk to the night shift, his “utensils specialist”, “fax machine”, and all the other phrases that makes him such a vibrant and fun character.

Not to mention how much whimsy is involved in their interactions with each other.

What I really really appreciate is how some of these details, body language and facial expressions — intentional or otherwise — shows the audience a glimpse of who these two characters are, who they could be, beyond the stress and chaos of the Pitt. They can be fun, lively, engaging, and we only see a tiny bit of that not because Robby is just quick-tempered and defensive or that Jack is all tactical and assertive — it’s because how the ER requires so much of them and it wears people out, and the not-so-pretty side is all that’s left.

It’s like peeking through the blinds and witnessing the possibility of Robby and Jack being in a space and time that’s light and airy. Where they can just exist. Be human. Where they have the freedom to joke and tease and be loose without expecting impending crisis.

Ah I love these two whimsical old men.

And how I love when they get to be happy and giddy.

That’s it. That’s all I have to say.

maybe my favorite part of the pitt is how it addresses implicit biases in medicine and society. a south asian woman doctor recognizes a black woman patient has sickle cell after she's been mistreated by the paramedics. a doctor with an autistic sister is able to help a patient on the spectrum after another doctor is dismissive. one doctor challenges another over whether she fat shamed a patient, and if that bias hindered her judgment. a doctor confronts her older, male boss about prioritizing the safety of a teenage boy who's made threatening comments to girls, rather than the girls who may be harmed. a handsome white male asshole doctor who's been a resident for four years is stealing drugs, and the young woman asshole doctor is the one who realizes it (they've both acted like jerks, but shockingly he gets more leeway from viewers). idk man it's just nice to see actual wrestling with the intersection of misogyny, racism, fatphobia, and other issues in the medical profession. also the doctors are hot

He is around 15 feet tall and can shrink to the size of an ant ("Tall enough to be a giant, handsome, apron- wearing older husband, and small enough so he can be like a glooby, cute pet that can be kept in a cage.")

He was originally supposed to look more like an Ant and had four arms in his early concept drawings

He'd do ANYTHING to entertain you and is desperate for validation

He has abandonment issues and deeply misses his ex who also happens to be a tumblr sexyman

He's emotionally unstable and has rapid moodswings

He would definetly cry and be depressed for weeks if he lost the contest

He's a single dad who loves his daughter

He is traumatized and just wants to be loved

The thing about Miss Piggy is that she kind of has a Roger Rabbit comedy superpower where she wins nearly any conceivable fight she's in. But unlike other characters of which that's true, like say, Bugs Bunny, who tend to win because they make the opponent play the game with their rules, Miss Piggy wins because the joke is that she can beat the shit out of literally anybody.
