Why did you do it?
Saw a video on tiktok of some dudes saying they don't find Arcane Vi attractive - that made me giggle. Vi is a butch lesbian, she is not meant to be seen as conventionally attractive to straight men. She could punch someone to de@th and the show designers made sure her build reflected that. The WLW community on the other hand loves her design - she is not for straight men
Some things never change.
thinking about caitlyn kiramman and how her lack of words are so fundamental to the end shape of her character. cait doesn’t say “i’m sorry” when Vi yells at her about being Ambessa’s puppet, she yells “i know” because she’s intelligent enough to see the spiral of events but not enough to know how to stop it. she doesn’t say “i’m sorry” but the very next scene she attempts to make peace with jinx. she doesn’t say “i’m sorry” but she calls off the guards so Vi can secretly try to save her sister—a terrible plan but one that Vi needs to do.
caitlyn isn’t surprised to find that jinx escaped. she expects Vi to be locked away by her sister so that she won’t chase her. because that’s the doomed tragedy of them.
everyone knows Jinx can’t be saved except for Vi.
Vi wants so badly to believe her love will somehow save her sister but it never will. her fatal flaw is that she will always try and she will always fail. and then caitlyn knows Vi will unjustly blame herself, so she’s there at the cells to ground her and remind her that this is how it’s always been. you’re getting predictable.
and then vi finally understands that caitlyn pulled all the strings for this. that she gave her another chance to open a cell and go after her sister, even knowing it would never work. it’s an apology and it’s cait saying “i know who you are.”
caitlyn kiramman doesn’t use words, she takes meaningful action because she’s only half the charismatic councilor her mother wanted her to be. she’s grown up an outsider and keeps a careful mask for everyone except violet, which is why season one opened her up so magically. she’s naturally stoic and reserved but she’s bold.
and then vi has to kiss her right then in the cells. because meaningful action means so much more than words to someone like her, who just wants to be of service to the people she loves. what caitlyn did was a reciprocation of her love language. and then Vi acts more by instantly showing her love, giving caitlyn all her love, because she’s the only person in this story willing to accept it. without hurt or heartbreak, vi can pour this massive heart she has into the only hands capable of understanding it. of being tender with it.
because caitlyn knows that vi is devoted to such a massive fault, but it doesn’t deserve to be punished. not any longer.
caitlyn kiramman doesn’t use words, but she keeps the burden of jinx locked away in her heart. all so that vi can finally know what a safe home and peace feels like ♥️ AUGH
ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: 2x08 - “Killing is a Cycle”
So when exactly did "decorated officer" Caitlyn happen?
In s1 she seems little more than a beat cop. Only low-ranking enforcers appear to wear that massive hat, we only see her assigned to guard duty, Jayce jokes about her "herding drunks", and Marcus berates her for "interfering in an investigation, again".
True, she could already have a good amount of experience under her belt at this point, maybe she already is a decorated officer, but other enforcers certainly don't treat her that way. Her peers seem to think this job is a LARP for her which feels unlikely if she'd already proven herself. The only one who actually seems to take her seriously is Marcus, which is why he's certainly been holding back her career progression.
Much to Caitlyn's annoyance, her parents pull strings to get her "safe" assignments (could she ever actually prove herself on "safe" assignments?), and then use their influence again to get her removed from the force after Jinx's bombing. So for the majority of s1 she is not an enforcer at all. We see her turn down the House Talis security officer role, but later uses Jayce's name to free Vi from Stillwater, so perhaps she did end up taking that job.
There is very little time that passes between the end of s1 and Caitlyn forming the Hellfire Squad in s2, a few weeks perhaps. Enough time for funerals to be held, a statue to be built, and a memorial to be planned. Obviously Caitlyn is reinstated to the enforcers, but she doesn't participate in any major operations during this period of mourning apart from serving as a witness to the events in Zaun, and using every bit of influence she has to get Vi a badge.
So - does Caitlyn limp home to the destruction in Piltover, and then get a bunch of accolades? Like - sorry about your dead mom but here's a medal and a promotion for getting rid of Silco and exposing Marcus's corruption? Because if so that's fucking brutal.
her brain literally stopped working when she saw caitlyns boobs

Ambessa vs Vi
I would have loved to have seen them go at it with caitlyn then mel coming in to finish it off. I thought ambessa would be after vi's ass after act 2
The birth of a matriarchy
Vi removed her bandages for the first time. She’s also humming a song that her mother used to sing, choosing to carry on the good things about her family instead of the pain.
Cait doesn’t have the investigation board by the wall anymore. By forgiving Jinx she ultimately forgives herself and honors the lineage of Kiramman women, setting the foundation for her legacy.
Both free, vulnerable, stronger. Leaning on each other to lead a new world.
ohhhhhhh something just hit me while i was watching this scene again
this episode is called "the monster you created"... talking about jinx, of course. "you" is either vi or silco, or both, or the entire system that created these circumstances.
but. BUT.
another monster was created in this episode. the monster jinx created. the cycle of violence continues, baby!
(thanks @solidsmax for the gif!)
ARCANE LEAGUE OF LESBIANS: 2x08 - “Killing is a Cycle”
I don't think some of ya'll realize how monumental the caitvi sex scene is. Normalization of queer love that isn't for the male gaze is so fucking sick
new look (but your gf is digging it)
You don't need to be guilty about being happy. You deserve to be with her.
Are you okay or did you realize Ekko was right
still stuck on the fact that caitlyn and vi literally knew each other for 3 days, trauma bonded, committed war crimes, confessed their love, and then proceeded to break up 2 hours later and then got back together after experiencing more trauma and then had sex in vi’s sister’s jail cell
accurate lesbian culture rep 10/10 no notes
