I saw someone update you about the whole pressure situation. Here’s another update plus my take away from this whole thing.
Ren spent months putting together a document accusing Zeal of multiple serious offenses, with the main allegation being sexual assault. According to people who read parts of the document, there were several contradictions. I don’t remember every detail, but one example often brought up is that Ren reportedly comforted Zeal after their first sexual encounter didn’t go well and even arranged a second one. Given the seriousness of the accusation, many people found that confusing, questioning why someone would want another encounter after experiencing something they later described as assault.
Eventually, the case was expected to go to court, but Ren said she couldn’t move forward because she didn’t have the money for legal proceedings. At one point, someone publicly offered to pay for the case, but there was reportedly no response. Later, that same person uploaded an interview with one of Ren’s friends who had been present at RDC, and Ren then wanted to sue him for allegedly falsifying a witness. Some people saw this as contradictory, since she had previously said she couldn’t afford to pursue the original case but appeared willing to take legal action against someone else.
I can’t personally confirm this, but there were also claims that Ren commissioned a VTuber model during this time. That should be taken with caution, as I can’t verify whether it’s true. In the end, Ren deleted her Discord and Twitter accounts.
From Zeal’s perspective, the allegations came completely out of nowhere. Because of that, many people believe he didn’t respond appropriately at first, which reportedly contributed to a suicide attempt. After that, there were very few updates directly from Zeal, as his mother began handling public communication and providing updates instead.
As for who I believe was in the right, I think it was Zeal, as I believe he became the target of a very serious accusation that ultimately turned out to be false. However, I also think parts of the situation could have been handled better. There should have been more time for a proper response instead of the online community immediately resorting to harassment and threats. I also think Zeal could have been more cautious during the hookup and made some better decisions. At the same time, based on what has been presented, Ren had made him believe everything was okay. So, in my view, Zeal was ultimately in the right, but he still made several mistakes in how he handled the situation.
