Rejection sensitive dysphoria is wild. Someone will be like “hey just so you know the thing you did was a little bit loud/uncomfortable/insensitive but it’s ok I know you didn’t mean it” and my brain will instantly translate “you should be shot”

some people were asking for a actual and i can never pass up an opportunity to procrastinate so here’s just a couple of things i always need to remind myself of…now back to my paper :(

first image: how to actually study with adhd (no, seriously).
second image: 1. taking your f-ing meds. if you are one of those people (me) who has guilt about needing medication to function: don’t. surprisingly, a mental disorder gets worse when you don’t treat it.
third image: 2. ‘pretty’ means nothing if it isn’t done. is spending hours rewriting your notes or making flash cards actually helping you learn? aesthetic does not mean effective. stick to what works, not what looks good.
fourth image: 3. use your breaks wisely. a ‘five minute’ break can turn into five hours. try to do activities that give your brain a break but aren’t distracting. good break ideas: eat something, 10 minute stretch, go for a walk. bad break ideas: playing a video game, watching tv/tiktok, call your best friend.
fifth image: 4. don’t forget to prioritize. only look at what actually needs to get done, right now. today is not the day to finish every single task you’ve been procrastinating for months.
sixth image: 5. try to be around other people. cafes and libraries were my best friend for a reason (sigh…). just someone to be in the room (or on facetime!) and quietly do their own thing, so you remember to do yours. note: if you choose a friend, this might be too distracting.
seventh image: 6. be honest about your limits. you are not lazy. you have adhd, so stop punishing yourself. dropping a class or asking for extensions aren’t failures; they are mature and necessary steps to being a better student.
eighth image: 7. make fun of your work. being interested makes things so much easier! that’s why taking classes you like is so helpful! if you can’t do that, literally make fun of it. joke around with your friends or in the margins of your notes. it’s a good way to stay focused, plus you actually have to understand the material pretty well to make jokes about it.
ninth image: 8. now go and get started. c’mon. looking at this graphic is not studying. set a timer for 10 minutes, turn off your phone, and go do some work …after you reblog this post :P

for some of us, it’s a way of self medicating certain diseases- ADHD for example.

I have ADHD and caffeinated sodas literally help me focus….
ADHD medications are either amphetamines (like adderal and vyvanse) or methylphenidates (like ritalin or concerta). Both drugs increase the production of neurotransmitters and make neurons reabsorb them slower, which helps counteract the problem where neurons in ADHD brains reabsorb neurotransmitters too early and prevent signals from transmitting.
Caffeine gives a slight boost to the brains production of neurotransmitters, meaning that it basically functions like a weaker version of ADHD medication. But unlike meds, you don’t need a prescription to get caffeine, and it’s usually a hell of a lot cheaper. If someone has ADHD and doesn’t like coffee, then to self medicate they’ll have to get caffeine from another source. Like tea, or energy drinks, or… maybe… just possibly…… caffeinated soda. And since it has a weaker affect than proper meds, and doesn’t last nearly as long, the best results come from drinking pop throughout the day.
But as we all know being disabled is super cringey so this whole middle school bully routine was very justified, keep it up man.
It’s also good for people with chronic headaches who don’t want to keep popping pills or don’t want to take the strong kind cuz caffeine boots the effectiveness of common meds like aspirin and narrows the blood vessels in the brain which become enlarged during headaches
This post is the best way to sum up the experience of having adhd. You recognise a pattern, you say “maybe its a mental health thing,” people who have no idea what tf they are talking about tell you “you’re just over reacting”, you stop questioning it and blame yourself for “having bad habbits” until eventually somebody who DOES know what the fuck the’re talking bout gives you the confirmation and support you should have gotten forever ago.

for people who are unaware of why the riots in minneapolis started happening, here’s the facts:
it wasn’t george floyd’s protesters who started reacting violently; it was the cops.
the protest was peaceful until the cops showed up in riot gear, and started using water cannons, followed up by tear gas and rubber bullets. i got videos from friends who were there, of people screaming and running away from the cops shooting the water cannons, rubber bullets and throwing tear gas at them. they were even shooting at the protesters dragging people away to get medical attention.
speaking of medical attention, dispatch refused to provide any medical attention to the protesters. people literally had to drive their bleeding friends to the hospital because they refused to send ambulances.
cops are using non-lethal weapons in a lethal way. they shot rubber bullets into people’s heads and injured them. there’s dozens of photos of protesters with bleeding head wounds from the rubber bullets.
multiple people used police scanners and heard that there were undercover cops pretending to be violent protesters who were throwing rocks and whatnot at the police, with dozens of eyewitness accounts confirming that information.
the person who instigated all the chaos last night (it was a fire at an autozone) with the looting and burning buildings is highly suspected to be an undercover cop pretending to be a protester, because the video of him keeps getting taken down. protesters tried to stop him but couldn’t because he had a hammer and they were scared for their safety.
the cops jammed cell phone towers and cut live streams to interrupt broadcasts and to prevent people from seeing what was really going on and who actually started the violence.
the cops lied about protesters being armed and about throwing rocks and are literally trying to continue the violence happening and yet no one is holding them accountable for that.
and during all this, the cop that murdered george floyd still hasn’t been arrested. he has had more than ten complaints filed against him and was involved in three other civilian shootings in the past. and yet he’s still out free along with his three other buddies involved, probably sitting on his couch while all this chaos is happening.
so don’t get it twisted. the cops just want to change the narrative to make it look like they’re the wounded and righteous party, when they’re the ones who started reacting violently in the first place and are still acting violently. so don’t you ever forget who started this tragedy and murdered someone, and who are continuing to react to the situation with violence.
