Time to yap about 2 of my 10 Rooks 😂
Before I give answers tho, here’s a little something to make the answers make sense. 🐶 is for my first Rook, Zabe Laidir, an elven mage of the Lords of Fortune. 🦊 is for the Rook I’m currently playing, Etta de Riva, an elven mage of the Antivan Crows. And they both romance Lucanis.
🌻 🐶 31! He gets really excited about celebrating his birthday since it’s also the day he joined the Lords and began transitioning. And gifts… he’s happy with just about anything 😂 Any gift he gets means a lot to him.
🌻🦊 34! She’s kinda so-so about her birthday. She won’t celebrate it by herself, but she will with others. For gifts, Viago has made a tradition of getting her a new dagger every year now because he gave her one when she first became a full Crow (on her birthday). It’s more the tradition than the dagger that means a lot to her. Even tho the first dagger wasn’t really Viago’s to give away. Can’t say more or it’ll spoil the fanfic I’m working on 👀
🪻🐶 The one he got over his right eye. It happened when he was very young and resulted in really bad partial blindness in his right eye. Because of that, he has really bad aim with weapons. Magic tho, perfect aim (cause his magic is some kind of conscious and aims for him).
🪻🦊 The scar around her neck. She got it when she was 12 (saving that story for the fanfic). But now whenever she gets anxious, nervous, overwhelmed, etc she starts scratching it. And because of that it’s never really healed fully and has only gotten bigger.
🌹🐶 He’d probably get in more silly harmless fights with Lucanis than serious fights. I’ll be honest, I’ve never thought about them fighting before 😂

I just don’t think much about them fighting in headcannons tbh. Maybe over lack of communication but that’s all I got rn.
🌸🐶 Zabe has never seen anyone as a sibling until Bellara. But he has plenty of friends in the Lords that he’d do ruin crawls with and they’re all still with the Lords during Veilguard.
🌸🦊 Etta used to have siblings. They weren’t blood related, but when you’re orphans on the streets, the ones you stick with become family. But she hasn’t seen them since she was 12. Lucanis is her closest friend among the Crows along with Nycks de Riva (one of my other Rooks). Nycks is with the Crows during Veilguard and her orphan siblings are living better lives in many different places.
🌾🐶 Probably a demon of Self-Doubt. Zabe has a hard time believing in his choices often during Veilguard. Like not punching the First Warden. To break free, I think he’d have to see a choice he made pay off.
🌾🦊 As cheesy as it may be, a demon of Regret. She’s made a lot of stupid choices in her past that she wishes she could take back. Or a demon of Self-Loathing maybe. To break free, someone would have to remind her she’s more than those choices. She’s not trouble or a bad luck charm.
🌱🐶 No. He’s done plenty of one-night stands in his twenties but he’s never felt romantic feelings towards anyone. Never met someone he wanted to settle with until Lucanis.
🌱🦊 Technically Lucanis, but that was more aimless flirting between the two under the guise of friendship (they’re both clueless lil Crows). Otherwise not really. She did spend the year she thought Lucanis was dead trying to get over him by going out with and sleeping with a bunch of people. Tho they were all women cause she couldn’t see herself ever being with a man if it wasn’t Lucanis (but she could never admit that to herself).
🌼🐶 Salt, gold, and ginger (salt cause he cooks food similar to fried rice often, so the salty soy sauce smell clings to him, gold cause Lords, and he has ginger tea every night cause having coffee after a certain hour fully prevents him from sleeping)
🌼🦊 Hazelnut, bloodroot, and oil (hazelnut cause it’s part of a lotion she applies to her skin everyday, bloodroot because she carries it everywhere for its poisonous properties, and oil because she uses it to help sharpen her daggers every night).
🌷🐶 Zabe goes to Bellara and listens to her talk about the book she’s writing or whatever else she wants to talk about. Or he’ll go to the kitchen and just cook something.
🌷🦊 Etta typically goes to hang out with Assan, waiting for Davrin to come out so she can tease him. Maybe chat with Neve or Emmrich about books. Or she’d go find a book and sit with Manfred while reading. Sometimes aloud, sometimes not.
🥀🐶 All the other slaves he knew before joining the Lords that didn’t make it.

🪷🐶 Not being able to see, or being completely blind.

🍀🐶 Yes, it was actually what caused his lightning shaped scar. During the experience, all he could think about was surviving. He refused to die, fighting off what he thought would be the end.
🍀🦊 Yeah, at least one she remembers and one that may or may not have happened (it happened when she was 1 so she doesn’t really remember it at all). For the one she remembers she kept thinking of how she’s a bad luck charm, but at least now she can see all those lost loved ones again.
💐🐶 Zabe and Isabela are drinking buddies essentially. When she sent him off with Varric, it was more of a, “Just skip town with this guy until the problem here blows over,” no harm no fowl.
💐🦊 Viago is Etta’s only dad figure (until she meets Emmrich), and Viago takes that role VERY SERIOUSLY. To make a long story short (since the long story will be in the fanfic), he says something to her while trying to send her off with Varric. And it sits with her, feeds into her insecurities, and then she has a breakdown.
🌺🐶 Fried Rice and Stir Fry. He remembers eating it when he was very young before he was a slave. He makes it often.
🌺🦊 A pair of gloves one of her orphan siblings gave her. They barely look like gloves anymore, but she always has them on her. Etta believes they’re a good luck charm.
🌿🐶 Zabe has a lot of tattoos. He was super excited to get them, had them all planned out and everything. And now he’s best friends with his tattoo artist.
🌿🦊 Etta also has a lot of tattoos. She gets them to (in a way) reclaim a part of her past or to reconnect with something. It’s very therapeutic for her when she gets tattoos.
Neither of them have vallaslin.
🍂🐶 The first time he killed someone, it was to protect someone else. Killing people leaves him feeling… disgusting, so he doesn’t like killing without good reason.
🍂🦊 Ever since she was 12 and brought into the Crows, she’s been trained to kill. But the first time she killed wasn’t for a contract. It was during her training. Afterwards she was genuinely surprised she survived and very shocked she could basically kill on instinct now.
