pyro is no set species, its simply pyro. not all my designs for pyro (other teams) is the same species, this one is unique.
I felt very nervous in making a character like pyro who i have. somewhat of little idea whats going on yet, most is my own speculation of what could and could not be so just take all that i say with a grain of salt because im always changing my hcs
the mystery about what IS pyro continues regardless of if its masked or not, and any time youd ask it "what are you?" it would only answer that its pyro
the truth is that it doesnt know what it is and stopped caring a long while ago, pyro is an old one, it cant waste its entire life questioning, it will just have a better time if it accepts and plays into it
it also isnt neither man or woman, just pyro, obviously! when drawing the body, i tried to keep it ambiguous, just like the face. gendered traits are a mix and match, really. could be characterized as pseudohermaphroditism.
the design choice of having it have shortly shaven hair is because wearing a gas mask constantly without any hair protection, hair caps or similar can cause alopecia via stress, sometimes the easier solution is to just shave your fucking head lol
but also besides, its a personality choice of pyro. it didnt enjoy maintaining any hairstyles, all too much work and never felt like anything fit it as nicely as the rough look of a buzz cut.
teeth are all mostly pointed outwards, again, similar to komodo dragons. other komodo traits include the strong nails that are claw-like, sharp pointed pupils and a weirdly tinted saliva, akin to being blood tinted
weewooo about the SPD. pyro doesnt have schizophrenia but it lays in the spectrum. it experiences some forms of hallucinations, such as visual, tactile, presence/proprioceptive, not limited to those but they are the most recurring. schizoid personality disorder will also affect interpersonal relationships, leading to pyro only forming very few meaningful relationships. the person it feels the closest with is engie, mostly sticking by his side whenever it gets the chance. while it considers the other mercs its friends, the internal feelings about all of them are more complicated than that.
pyro displays a constant confident behavior with the way it stands and talks, even if no one will understand it. that thing YAPS under the mask.
despite everything, and all the bickering that it gets with its mates, pyro is drawn to childish interests, watching cartoons, dressing up and acessorizing itself, it finds comfort and happiness in the little things.
no one can enter its den without its permission or presence, most mercs dont want to anyways
