there exists a devil within every artist's mind, all it does is whisper "your oc needs a redesign. you need to tweak their design. do it now. do it now."

anyways, redesigned kim again, my hunter / trapper oc. i'll try and learn how to design weapons so kim can have her own unique weapon ^_^ little yap under the cut regarding her redesign

this redesign exists because i wanted to add / emphasize an element to kim's character: her being a tinkerer. it was something i kinda had shown before ? like, her old helmet that had its jaw hang open being handmade, for instance. i felt like it tweaking her design to better include that was for the best. this can be seen with the goggles around her neck, the large gloves that cover a portion of her forearms, and the pouch on her hip that i imagine holds all sorts of tools, scrap, and junk she would wanna use to tinker. this also connects nicely with the crow aspect of her design, as crows are well known to collect shiny goods that they can find ^_^

while i was at it, i fixed up her cloak / mantle to not obstruct as much of her armour. in the previous designs, i always imagined the cloak would come off often and therefore it'd be fine if it covered a bit of information. however, as i worked on this redesign, i realized that the cloak was super important to keeping an interesting silhouette to kim's character. it'd be a shame for that silhouette to only be present only half the time, so i tweaked it to not obstruct as much information.

the last detail i tweaked was her helmet. this is also the detail that i am the most dubious on whether i shall keep it or not -- particularly how much it shows her hair and neck as opposed to previous iterations. i did this because... honestly, i just wanted to see if it looks nice. considering my uncertainty, i'll have to revisit this. the detail i am certain looks better tweaked however is the helmet's "eye." instead of it being a piece of metal or whatever screwed into the helmet, it's instead a hole, sustained from combat ^_^ i thought it'd be fun to reference those cowboy designs that always have bullet holes in their hats, but instead it's a huge hole made by an arrow.

i can elaborate more on her design, but for now this rough sketch / proof of concept shall suffice ^_^
