This box belonged to my Grandfather, an avid antique trader from the San Francisco Bay Area. This box was bought by my Grandfather in 1979, either in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived, or in Japan, where he frequently travelled.
This box was manufactured by Springbok, a division of Hallmark Cards and sanctioned by N.F.L. Properties, Inc. This is perfect for the Oakland Raiders fan - it can be used to hold treasures while showing off Oakland Raider pride!
SOLD! Congratulations and Thank you GL of Nampa, ID! Enjoy your Vintage NFL Oakland Raiders Springbox Jigsaw Puzzle Box from 1971!
The Story Behind the Sale
When I was young, I vaguely remember putting this puzzle together. Later, my Dad used it in his top desk drawer, to hold office items (paper clips and stuff). When we cleaned out the old homestead and we found the box, I just could not bear to throw it away. Then GL came along, an avid (and long-time, I assume) Raiders fan. He likes unusual Raiders items so he bought it. It was a very easy sale. It lasted about three weeks on eBay with watchers every week.
I am so pleased this landed in the right forever home!
I love selling things on eBay. I am just thrilled to put my family's things in the hands of someone that appreciates them. (And keeping them out of landfills).
I can't wait to see what my next sale brings! Maybe it will be yours!
This collectable piece is signed with a blue underglazed 4 character mark. There appears to be exquisite fine craquelure in the glaze for which this period of oxblood glaze is famous. This is an excellent example of "sang de boeuf" or oxblood glaze.
SOLD! Congratulations and Thank you AS of Monterey Park, CA! Enjoy your Kangxi Chinese Porcelain Oxblood Seal Marked Inkwell!
The Story Behind the Sale
This inkwell original belonged to my Grandfather. He was an active and well known Asian antique trader back in the day here in Northern California. He also frequently travelled to Japan. This sale did not come easy, as the new owner wanted more pictures taken in natural light (I provided 6, all taken in the back garden outside) and then he dickered. Boy, did he dicker! From the original price of $449.95, we settled on what I think was a fair price for not being on the market for 40+ years and taking into account that these days, I don't think you can find another one like it. In the end, I think he was satisfied, he gave me a good review on eBay.
I am happy this got into the hands of someone who appreciates it.
