Much to her relief Bunny answered the door for her. His excitement lead to hers, bringing a smile to her face in response. “Of course. I brought food with me too.” She lifted the arm with the lunchbox slightly to show him. The box was filled with different foods, all of which she hoped he would like, and were not overly sugary either despite her previous times buying food being very high in sugar. “I hope it’s okay to show up here. Is no-one else home?”

“Yay!” Bunny cheered, moving out of the way so he could let her in. His eyes lingered on the lunch box, eager to see what was inside. His last meal had been hours ago and having someone to share food with was fun. “Sir and Big Brother Sheepie are away right now. They were gone when I woke up so I made breakfast all by myself.”

Hyemi, having been spending a lot of time by herself due to exams, had decided to take a break from her own company and seek out others to spend time with. By others, she specifically had someone in mind. She was aware of where Bunny lived, as they’d been there before, which was where she headed first. In her left arm she carried a lunchbox full of a few different selections, seeing as how the two of them mostly bonded over food. Hopefully he’d be home and she wouldn’t have to face disappointment upon knocking on the door.

Sir was out and so was Big Brother Sheepie so Bunny was charged with holding down the fort at home. He had spent the morning alone, watching Batman cartoons on TV and eating too much sugary cereal than was probably good for him. He had just got up from his doodles to get some bread for lunch when he heard a knock on the door. Shifting into his adult form, something Sir said to always do when he answered the door alone, he walked over and pulled the door open. “Miss Hyemi!” he cheered, excited to see her, “are you here to play?”

“They should care about animals. They are very nice creatures.”

“Food animals are different sort of though. They get cared for then we eat them.”

“But not everyone thinks that way. And some just… Don’t care.”

“That’s mean if they don’t care. People should care about animals.”

“They are. And that’s why people fear them. Sometimes they’re hunted. You have to go somewhere away from the regular humans in such a case.”

“I wouldn’t hunt a wolf. I’d be scared they’re a human just turned into a wolf.”

“Being a wolf is great, but sometimes it can put you in danger. That’s why I prefer this form.”

“Really? Why? I thought wolves were really strong.”

“It’s not super crazy. Just seems odd. But then again, I can morph into an animal…”

“Wow! I know a person who turns into a wolf. She is a nice lady.”

“Is that even possible?” Sofia laughed. “The Joker is crazy.”

“I think so. I can change how old I am and Miss Kaylie can change the weather.”

“His doll?” She asked. “I don’t think that I would want to fall in love with the joker.”

“Mhm. His doll turns into a person and has a job. He’s nice. Oh...I like the Joker but I think he’s also kind of scary.”

“And we have now come full circle. Is your brain useful for anything?”

“Right now I don’t do much. Just a part-time job in a clothing store. But I want to be a therapist.” Sofia loved working with people, and wanted to make sure that they could live happy lives; ones that weren’t like her own had been. “Being Batman is a great goal in life.”

“I think one of Big Brother’s friends goes to one of those. His doll is a therapist. Maybe you can ask him for help sometimes. If you be a doctor, are you going to fall in love with Joker?”

“No. Cats can’t eat chocolate either. But that isn’t it. I have responsibilities that cats can’t go do. Like go to the bank, or work.”

“Where do you work, Miss Cat? Do you have a job that you can do as a cat? I think I want to be Batman when I grow up.”

“There are some things that I have to do as a person. Some things I can’t do as a cat.”

“What can you do as a people? I guess you can have chocolate. Is it just dogs that can’t have that?”

“We can play inside. It’s way too cold, kid. You’ll get really cold so cold it hurts if you stay outside for so long.”

“People can get that cold?” he asked, eyes wide. “I thought cold just made you sleepy.”

“Bunny. It’s in the single digits. You’re not going outside.”

“Then what are we gonna do? How come I can’t play outside where the snow is? Snow is supposed to be cold.”

“it is in some ways, but everything has its downside. As a cat I can be a lot more agile, and jump into higher spots, My senses are a lot stronger. Things like that.”

“What’s good about being a person then? If you can talk, I’d stay as a cat forever and ever. I could sleep all the time and no one would get mad.”

“You’re gonna freeze out there.” He warned, rolling his eyes at the childlike scolding.

“Not if I wear my boots and coat,” he replied, smiling and obviously proud of himself.
