ellie was staring out the window. the snow had piled up high overnight and she had to use the car to run some errands.
said car was buried in the snow.
“don’t worry babe,” she gently pushed you back onto the bed. “i got this.”
with a grin she headed outside, and you could tell a plan was concocted inside her brain.
a few minutes passed peacefully until—
you heard shrieking outside. alarmed, you quickly rushed to the window to find your daughter laid flat on her back.
ellie was pushing your daughter around the car as snow seamlessly fell off the edges.
“hold on tight sweetheart,” ellie lifted her up to the hood of the car.
“mama! you missed a spot!”
“oh, right,” she noticed the area still covered in snow. she dragged your daughter to the snow covered spot. “got it!”
“ellie!!” you shouted at her from the window, deeply unamused.
“hi mama!! i’m helping!” your kid gleefully waved.
“she wanted to volunteer,” ellie flashed that impish smile at you.
“put her down right now,” you tried putting on your sternest voice, but they just gave each other a look and continued clearing the snow.
“i promised to clean off the car, didn’t i?” ellie remarked. “i’m almost finished!”
you couldn’t help but smile, watching as she started throwing and catching your daughter in the air. it was typical for them to share the same braincell, two peas in a pod together all the time.
content, you returned to bed as they began snowballs at each other, drifting off to the sound of snow and laughter.
