Bugs Bunny, one of the most beloved and enduring characters of the 20th century, turns 75 today. That's a major milestone for any American pop culture icon, putting him on a plane right beside the...
Bugs was born at the magic intersection of excellent writing, design, animation and voicework. The geniuses who put Bugs and friends on the screen infused American cartoons with wit, economy, and the most memorable skewerings of human nature. Who wouldn't wish you could pack up all of the admiring drivel like this into one heap and trade it in for just one more golden era Bugs Bunny cartoon?
Nothing quite touches the heart and cheers the soul like an excellent piece of animation—just ask any Disney-obsessed kid! For years, movies, advertisements and more

At our house, we finally took the Nativity set down, just in time to put up the Tax Shelter diorama.
Our tradition is that the Three Uncle Sams (we have them in modern stainless steel, but I fondly remember my grandmother's hand-painted cast iron ones) start off over on the Dining Room Sideboard. Day by exciting day, they make their journey across the Radiator Hutch to the Sofa Console and the Bookshelf, slowly but inexorably closing in on the Shelter at the far end of the Coffee Table.
On the final day of the great festival, they crack open all the piggy banks stacked up inside, and all the pennies are then hammered together into the long Wire Of Debatable Value, which is then snipped into tiny bits with the Holiday Shop Shears and joyfully flung into Lake Michigan as we sing our favorite Filing Carols and eat the traditional Stale Cracker and down the steaming Cup of Bitter Tea.
Ahh, the merriest season! Happy Rendering Unto Caesar, everyone!
Having the full mic stand lets you get a little more oomph into your voice if you have something other than a quiet AVO to do. Trying to get all vocally energetic when you are sitting at a mic on a desk does not work out well.
We can do some pretty good scratch tracks with a modest audio recording set-up. It's a USB mic (with a little p-pop screen), a mudguard baffle to deaden the sound on the curlicue-bit of the cardioid pattern of the mic's pickup, and a couple of foam baffles just behind the… okay, it'll be actual talent from time to time. I just do scratch tracks. (But very nice, dry-sounding scratch tracks now.)
