So is this fandom alive again?
behind enemy lines
She slammed the hood with a loud expletive as she knew for a fact that one wouldnât run again the engine was totaled. She glanced at the boy watching her and threw the wrench to his side to get his attention. âYou can tell your boss unless he has a new engine laying about this one will never run again. The engine has seized up due to a lack of oil because didnât changed the Gorram oil.â she yelled at the startled young man who looked like he was going to faint at the sight of an angry mechanic. âIf you donât actually do that you ruin the Engine and need a new one.â
Perfect. While she was doing a good job distracting everyone with her glorious District 6 temper, he grabbed his tablet again and linked to the marksman rifle. Okay, okay...there. Guard in the tower, a couple more in the yard...one in the tower was the bigger problem but he seemed mostly distracted by Kaylee...
Hopefully this thing was supressed...
He pressed the âfireâ key and there was a soft coughing noise, like a polite man clearing his throat, and the tower watcher sank to the ground. No noise, no one noticed. Nice.Â
Scrambling up and over into the compound, Deejay fully activated his camo and slunk closer, timing his movements to the shouting from Kaylee.Â
He sent a single click over the raido, just so she would know he was still there.

âYouâre awfully far from district 6, missâŚ.?â the head peacekeeper stated turing it into a question.Â
âTurbo, My name is Kaylee Turbo,â she stated as she sat still knowing that her boyfriend would be coming for her no matter how long it took. âAnd I feel your employeeâs care of their vehicles are severely lacking.â
âReally?â he replied with a raised eyebrow. âWhy is that?â
âWell the transport I was transported in, had a slight tick in the engine that was telling me they have low oil in the engine, when was the last time that vehicle had an oil change at least?â
He looked impressed enough with her knowledge of vehicles, âWell then, Miss Turbo, I think you should get to work,â he stated with a slight nod.
âWhat?â she asked confused.
âIf you know so much about vehicles, then naturally I would be amiss if I didnât keep my transports running since the rebellion has pretty much taken control of any factories that make them. Welcome to my service as the squad mechanic. Rasunow, put this girl to work with the vehicle that needs the most work first.â
âYes, sir,â the peacekeeper motioned her up and led her towards the one vehicle they had to take out of service because it didnât want to start very more.
She subtlety looked around for a good prospect of one to hot wire if she had to as she followed the peacekeeper.Â
She was on the move again. And so was he. Linked to both rifle and her piece, Deejay advanced through the underbrush, armor shifting its coloration slightly to match the greenery and the shadows around him. Wouldnt work too well on advanced optic systemsâŚbut most Peacekeepers only relied on the olâ Mark One Eyeball to get the job done.
Heâd be fine. Just had to get in there without getting anyones attention-
Speak of the devil. A patrol. Two guys only, no helmets. Drawing his sidearm and readying it, he crept forward, making sure the suppressor was attached.Â
AannndddâŚdone. Two clean shots, both men were down, and he crept right past their bodies.Â
âCome on KayleeâŚgive me a signâŚâ Hopefully she was still alive.
She was given tools and started to do a work up on the one vehicle that they wanted her to work on and her luck was the best looking vehicle was right next to it. She just needed to find a reason to edge closer to it and she could figure out where she was after she escaped. She noticed the one that had led her to the vehicles had walked away leaving a young man watching her, he couldnât be much older than her. She grabbed a wrench and eased over to what seemed would be the best running vehicle in the area. She peeked into the vehicle before testing the door, it was unlocked good and it was something she did know how to hotwire. She edged back to the vehicle she needed to be working on according to them and set to work, cursing loudly at the state of the vehicle she was wrenching on.
Annnnddd there was Kaylee. Perfect. He hadnât figured he would be able to locate her by sound, but then again, he hadnât anticipated the Peacekeepres not keeping their vehicles in such horrible condition.
They really had let them slide since Six had been fully able to shake itself free...of course, after the bashing the Browncoats gave them, he wasnât surprised the Keepers turn and ran. Reynolds had finally gotten his win. His dream of independance.Â
Good for him, really. Too bad it wouldnât last. Unified Panem was the only way to go...
But that was for later. Crawling up onto the shed that rested between the outside of the HQ and the fenced-off inside, Deejay clambered up and over the top of it to look down into the courtyard.Â
âAnd there you are.â He muttered, seeing Kaylee. Working on a vehicle. Shocker. âAlright...â Get in, get her...steal that turreted vehicle maybe? Yeah.

That pilot was an idiot, she thought as she watched the transport she was just on fall out of the sky as it got shot down. She looked around the area trying to see if she could see where she was supposed to be at the front lines but nope there wasnât anywere that she could see. âDeejay, do you have a fix of my location, I got someone who didnât know where he was going to say the least?â
At least she knew where the peacekeepers were given the anti air emplacements that shot down the transport. They would have transports, especially ones she could hotwire and drive around this god forsaken front until she found where she was supposed to be. She heard the sound of the peacekeeper transports heading towards her. She moved to hide behind the bolder hoping they would passed by and she could continue along her way. Her stomach dropped as she heard it slow and stop near her. She pressed against the bolder and close her eyes hoping they didnât see her duck behind it. She heard the footsteps walk closer and then stop right next to her. Goram peacekeepers must have someone with good eyesight, she thought as she felt the tap on her shoulder. She wasnât a fighter like the rest of Deejayâs friends, she was just a mechanic, so she complied to their orders and went with them, knowing that Deejay would probably be looking for her when she didnât show up at camp like she was supposed to.
âYeah, I see you. Its going to take a little bit to get to you though, nothing but uncleared underbrush and downed trees between me and you. Are you alright? You safe?â
Not likely considering where they wereâŚthe Keeper patrols had gotten steadily worse as they had worked their magic on the populous. That was normally fine; while the Keepers moved to guard civilization, they left the wilderness openâŚand that mean the Serenity crew and 13s little band of misfits could operate with impunity. They knew the back woods, the rough country. This was THEIR land.Â
He paused to pull his data pad out and check the area. AlrightâŚalright. Nothing on sensorsâŚ
Ahhhh. SHIT. Patrol. AndâŚright on top of her. âKaylee, I dont know if you can hear me, but just stay calm and try not to get shot. Do whatever they say, Im coming for you.â
She heard what he said half garbled as she obeyed and walked back to the transport with the Peacekeeper. Her eyes searched the vehicle and her ears heard a slight tick in the engine. She got in the transport knowing trying to run might only succeed getting her shot. She listened to the tick of the engine asking them when was the last time this vehicle was serviced. As they headed back to their hq she gave him an earful about the importance of servicing their transports. They arrived at the garage and pulled her out of the transport and led her to their C.O.
âApparently on the patrol, we caught ourselves a mechanic,â the peacekeeper that found her reported keeping a hand on her shoulder before steering her to a chair. âGave us an earful on the state of our transport.â
She sat in the chair and glanced up at the leader of the garrison as he looked her up and down waiting for the questions that were soon going to be asked, since she wasnât in six she knew that for a fact they had pushed the peacekeepers out weeks ago.
They shoved her into a transport. That he wasnât surprised about... The fact that they took her right to their base did though. Well...he hadnât planned on finding their headquarters by having his girlfriend captured, but if the shoe fit...
He swiped through the open network systems, looking for anything he might be able to use to aid in his infiltration and rescue. It was the only thing he could do, really...and he HAD too. He couldnât just...ignore this base. This looked important, and if it was important, it had to GO.Â
Oh, well jackpot...a signal from a remote emplacement weapon. Locking in on it, he found his tablet showing a feed from a remote marksman rifle, set up on a tripod overlooking the base. The maintence log showed a previous activation less than a week before, with a District 13 access code.Â
So someone was out here...well, he would take it. Synching, he moved the crosshair, searching for Kaylee.Â
Damn...she had to be inside. Synching again with her earpiece, he started approaching.

âThis is Cerberus. Heâs a pussycat. Now, if he accidentally bites you, well in the unlikely event that he does, do not say no. Part of their training is that biting is never wrong. Ainât that right? Yeah. Hey, I should probably tell you where we keep the broom handle in case we gotta pry open his jaw.â

Forgot this one exists again. Heh. Dead fandoms right
âWhat? Didnât Jayne kick that guyâs ass when he tried to invite you to his house? At least I assume it was Jayne, seems to be his style of bodily harm I witnessed the result of.â
âI believe so, I donât keep track of all the injuries that the crew cause,â she stated with a shrug. She had never known the protective nature of Jayne outright but then again he tried to hide he cared for the most part. Mal was the more obvious protector of her.
Deejay chuckled. âTheyâre a rough and tumble crew, thats for sure. Was damn glad of it when we got stoppered in 7.â The Capitol had been smart and tried to hang Serenity up with a crane. Some Peacekeepers had gotten aboard...and promptly left the cargo bay in several pieces, clutching their heads as blood flowed from every orface, or were pierced by some kind of freaky fancy Capitol mag-bow from the concubine (Consort, companion, whatever she was) on board.

âAttached? Ha. One of themâs leading usâŚbut yes. I donât think any sane Peacekeeper relishes the thought of going into an asymetrical combat situation with a Ghost as an opponent.â Marasco alone had cause his fair share of casualties. Never get into CQC with him was what Deejay had learned.
âIâve heard that Marasco wasnât someone to fight with from Wash,â she replied sitting down stretching it was weird working for people that forced her to take breaks. Her tool box was guarded by Medea at the moment since Kaylee had been working for five hours without a break. âThat and he could set Thread loose to deal with the problem her way. Mal said sheâs damn efficient and deadly when let off the leash.â
âThat she is, or so I hear...Huh. See, this is why I know youâll never end up like Peeta. Because unlike him, you are surrounded by people who care for you and are willing to kill for you. No Peacekeeper would be foolish enough.â If the Ghosts werenât enough, Serenityâs crew would be. Deejay had witnessed the result of a Callahan Auto-Lock at close range. Jayne didnt mess around.

NOW I CAN BE A TRUE MERMAID
I actually did a report on this last year! The substance is called perfluorocarbon and because of its unique nature, it can hold enough oxygen inside of it for you to breathe it. You can breathe safely while inside it, but sometimes the transition from breathing in the perfluorocarbon and the air can be painful or uncomfortable as your lungs try to push the liquid out of them. In Dan Brownâs book The Lost Symbol, the process of reverting back to breathing the air can feel like being birthed.
thank you friend
how the fuck do they know what being birthed feels like
FACT:
This liquid is used in modern torture. It is similar to water boarding. A victim is placed in a small completely dark box. The box is then filled with the liquid. The victim thinks they are drowning as they breath the liquid in. Most pass out from fear at this point or they just sit there in the liquid in pitch black, apparently breathing âwaterâ. Often it leads to the thought that they are in fact dead. It is completely terrifying. Then the box is opened and they are violently pulled from it. As said before the transition from liquid to air is none too pleasant. You might be told something like, they resuscitated you and to tell them what you know or they will âdrownâ you again.
You can âdrownâ someone and be sure that they wonât be harmed
You all needed to know this.Â
holy shit
That went from cool to horrifying is 0.05 seconds

âMaâam. Excuse the mess. Iâve been working on a fewâŚpet projects in my down time.â The workbench before him was strewn with plastic models of walkers and fighter jets, weapons, a few prototypes, and a half-eaten sandwich. âWhat can I do for you?â
âNo worries,â the brunette spoke with a quiet laugh as she hesitantly entered the room. She was still somewhat reserved, considering she didnât know the man too well yet, but she had to play nice in order to get what she needed. âIâm actually here to ask a favor,â Katniss admitted, glancing around the room at all of the discarded paraphernalia. It was perfect.
âName it.â He swiped the sandwich and shoved it into his mouth, munching quickly as he picked through the remnants of prototypes and various other things that sat around his table. Half were toys he made out of boredom. The other half were actual miniature prototypes, basic design schema for a hopefully full sized operational model.Â
Heâd sort them out later.
Katniss examined the weapons he had created, which were somewhat scattered around the room. âLook, this stays between the two of us,â she started cautiously, âbut I want in on Peetaâs rescue mission. And to do that, I need weapons,â the girl finally admitted. âI figured, who better to acquire them from than you?â
The smile that crept up the 3 victorâs face would have put even a hardened Career in a mind to start bolting. Finally, SOMEONE understood his talents... And that it was the Mockingjay? Even better.Â
âI think I might have a FEW things...â He rose and headed to a large cabinet that dominated the back-half of the wall of his workshop.Â
âNo offense to Beetee and his handiwork but...he doesnât really understand what weâre doing out here. Nor does 13 to a certain extent...new world. New war. And that requires-â
He put his hand to the door. A light flashed across it and the entire cabinet slid open, revealing rows and rows of think shelves and mounting points.Â
â-new tools.â He stepped back to reveal the result of almost two years of fevered imagination and long nights. Arrowheads of various sorts. Handguns, several radio-connected devices of fuzzy intention, and a large, glass-fronted helmet that seemed unfinished, spilling wires and metal coating from its sides.
âLets see what I canât get for you.â

âHeartliner.â
âYou mean it as a compliment or an insult?â she asked.
âLittle of both. You gotta use whats up HERE.â He put his index finger to her forehead. âMore than whats down HERE.â He moved it to her chest. âLeave the emotional stuff to the rest of the crew.â
âLeave the emotional stuff to Mal and Inara. Got it, but whatâs wrong with using your heart.â she asked curiously. She leaned closer to him, glad he meant it almost like a compliment.
âYour heart can get hurt. Look at what happened to Katniss. They used her boyfriend as a weapon against her and she actually let it effect her. If you use your brain, they cant do that.â
âYou mean if they happen to catch me and tried to do the same, it wouldnât effect you?â She asked curiously, since she wasnât quite sure about where they stood relationship wise.
âOnly because I wouldnât let it. Of course, to take you, theyâd have to get through the Mockingjays. And the last group that tried THAT...â He was fairly certain their corpses still hung from lamp posts somewhere in 7. Peacekeepers were a superstisous lot; and, for a group that was supposedly designed to keep the peace, very VERY hesitant to engage in operations that would lead to their deaths. Not soldiers. Posers. Nothing to the 74th.
