Inktober #4: sprouts
- Oh my god. Are we mean? - No way.
Something I really liked about Tuca & Bertie is that it accepted Tuca’s individuality.
The characters are in their 30’s and most shows like this are about growing up and learning to act mature, and that always means being in a serious relationship, buying a house and having kids.
Bertie wants that and is moving in that direction but Tuca doesn’t seem fit for that kind of life and it really surprised me that the show didn’t force that on her. Instead the moral was “be the best version of yourself” which in Tuca’s case meant stay sober, clean your apartment every once in a while so you don’t live in trash and respect other people’s private space, but if she wants to stay single and have odd jobs instead of a nine to five office job that’s fine. You do you.
There’s a lot of other things to admire about the show, it’s characters and it’s handling of them, but the moral of “different people have different perfect lives” really stuck with me.
FUCK netflix for canceling this masterpiece
Netflix cancelled Tuca and Bertie and for the love of god PLEASE complain about that. It’s a show made by an incredible woman ABOUT women, dealing with things such as sexual harassment and misogyny in a mature, real way. For Netflix to cancel a show that really speaks to women while also being something men can easily watch and understand is fucking appalling, ESPECIALLY since they didn’t bother to promote it properly.
I don’t wanna tell you to be outraged about this but I sure fucking am.
me: spends a considerable amount of time cleaning my glasses bc they’re always fucking dirty, FINALLY feels like they’re clean enough 2 seconds later: *accidentally touches the lens directly with my fingertip* me immediately after:

That’s a face of a defeated man.
Half defeated, half “this sort of ridiculousness is what made me fall in love with her and I wouldn’t have it any other way”
“I dearly love this woman, but Lord God grant me the patience to put up with her shenanigans.”
She looks so happy about her peacock
people who arent punctual freak me out im so stressed. what do you mean the event starts at 6 and you’ll pick me up at 5:50 even though I live 20 minutes from the venue? what do you mean being 10 minutes late is “no big deal”? what if there’s no parking and nowhere to sit? what then? i need to be there at 5:45 just to be sure and you’re like Oh Whatever Dude… ARE YOU OKAY
I’ve never identified with something more than this
It’s gonna be the Duolingo bird too
