When I saw the above post ages ago I thought to myself, 1) a baby! a fluffy baby! I love! and 2) ooh, this reminds me of Klimt floral backdrops, how cool would that look! And then I remembered I am an artist and I can in fact do the thing.

The whole photo is gold but I especially like that the automated feeder is taped to the fucking floor.
The clock is very close to noon and, given the cat's focus on it, we can assume that this is when the dispenser activates. The cat is so keenly aware of this at this point, that it is prepared at least 16 seconds in advance. However, it is much more focused on the clock than the feeder itself, despite the feeder being taped down, which most likely means:
- The tape was implemented first, but the cat continued to either fuck with the dispenser or the owners somehow
- The owners decided to solve this by giving it a clock and trying to teach the cat the concept of time telling
- Through positive reinforcement, the cat now knows that when all the hands point up, it is lunch time
- The cat now either has a vague concept of time telling, at least in relation to 12:00, or has learned nothing and just believes that the clock now decides when food comes, rather than the dispenser or the owners, and knows that the clock has a way of showing when it is about to make its decision
- Regardless, the clock should also probably be taped to the wall soon, before the cat attempts to alter time
"Les Jardins de Nuit" (censored version) - Mixed media: colored pencils, pastels, ink, and gold leaf on paper. I created this artwork in 2020 for my book Forgotten Gods.
