what i think is vry interesting abt dick and roy is the way that they know each other so well they dont need to speak when it comes to certain things. like more than physical, more than fighting styles or who will be where, tactics, roads often taken etc etc. and that can fool you into thinking that they dont NEED to talk, and the suffocating divide that this creates where they fill in the blanks about one another using their own toxic self belief to guess what each other is thinking. with total certainty. further perpetuating this inability to have a conversation. fascinating stuff, i hope they never change

a comics fan will talk about comics and be like "yeah i think this series went downhill because of the smith run" and the smith run is from 1987 and is widely considered the best run and you're like "so you think the character hasn't been good in your lifetime???" and they're like "yeah, he was just way better in the 70s, you know" and the worst part is that they do kind of have a point
