Being A Magical Practitioner: 1. Question everything you are told and read. 2. Hell even question this post. Only YOU can decide what is right and what works for you. 3. What may work for someone else may not work for you. What may work for you may not work for someone else. 4. Your practices are YOUR practices.
Support: 1. Ancestral veneration is so important. 2. Communicate with your ancestors daily. 3. They will help and guide you on your journey more than you will ever know. 4. You have several guardian angels and guardian spirits built into your existence, get to know them. 5. There is magic within you. Embrace your own power. 6. Mind your own magic. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. You don’t have to explain your practices to anyone else. Do you.
Tools: 1. White candles are fantastic for every single purpose. 2. You can print your own labels for glass candles and glue them on plain glass candles. You will save money this way in the long run. 3. You don’t need every single tool to start off with. 4. Water is life. Water keeps the flow of your magic, filters and is a conduit to you and spirit. Keep clear glasses of water in your home. Change them often. 5. Your altar space doesn’t need to be fancy. 6. You do not need expensive herbs. 7. Mirrors and Magnets are the best tools closest to crystals to magnify and amplify your magic. 8. The bible is a book full of spells and divination.
Herbs: 1. You can get most of the herbs you need from your local super market and dollar store. 2. Salt: Protection or cursing. Various Powdered Peppers: Protection and Cursing. Cinnamon: Money and Lust work. Basil: Money and Luck. Bay Leaves: Protection and Granted Wishes. Rosemary: Protection. Chamomile: Peaceful Home Workings. Cloves: Protection, Love, Control and Bindings. Eucalyptus: Cleansing. Thyme: Purification, Healing.
Floor Washes: 1. Do Floor Washes in odd numbers. One series to remove the negativity and one series to bring in good energy. 2. Curse Killer Floor Wash: Hot Water, Ammonia, Lemon, Salt (optional) Open Roads Floor Wash: Cold Water, Florida Water, Parsley, Mint Leaves, Coconut Water (Strained of pulp)
Various Cleansings: 1. Cigar or tobacco smoke is a great alternative to sage sticks. 2. You can cleanse yourself with an egg and a glass of water. 3. You can cleanse yourself with lemons, limes and oranges. 4. When cleansing your home make sure to open your windows and doors. 5. Start from the back of the home towards the front and then to various rooms to confuse the negative energy. 6. A can of beer and salt will cleanse your aura. 7. When you cleanse yourself, make sure to replace what you removed with good energy.
Powders: 1. You do not need to purchase branded powders from metaphysical shops. Money/luck powder: Bank dirt, Shredded currency and corn starch. Love/Passion powder: Rose petals, Cinnamon and corn starch. Open Roads powder: Dirt from four corners of a crossroads and corn starch. Add three dimes to bottom of container. Cursing Powder: Graveyard dirt from criminals grave, black pepper, red pepper, cayenne pepper. Protection Powder: Church Dirt, Psalm 91 passage from bible, Psalm 23 from the bible grinded into a powder. Oils: 1. Do not buy oils from the botanicas and metaphysical shops. Most are made with mineral oil, a synthetic fragrance and colorant. If you want that, Get yourself some baby oil, food coloring and scented fragrance oil of your choosing. I wouldn’t recommend it though. 2. Get yourself some Olive oil, Sunflower oil, Grapeseed oil and Vegetable oil at the supermarket along with some Vitamin E oil for preservative. You can make your own charged oils with herbs and a few glass bottles. 3. My favorite simple oils: Lust Oil: Sunflower oil base, Vitamin E, Cinnamon stick, red rose petals, and Vanilla Bean Money Oil: Grapeseed oil base, Vitamin E, Cinnamon stick, nutmeg, basil and thyme. Protection Oil: Olive Oil base, Vitamin E, Rosemary, Basil, Eucalyptus Life Force Oil: For when you need extra power in your magic. Olive oil base, 3 drops of blood. Blessing Oil: Olive Oil, Vitamin E and Psalm 91 torn from the bible.
Deities: 1. You do not have to have a deity in your practice. 2. You can practice secular magic. Secular magic is a practice that does not refer to, venerate and otherwise “work with” any deities (or, in some cases, any supernatural beings at all). This is perfectly okay. 3. If working with deity, never promise what you can’t provide. 4. Feed your spirits and deities. This can be with food, alcohol, energy, light, darkness, anything. 5. Know the spirits and deities you are working with. 6. Listen to your intuitive pulls when it concerns your deity. 7. No one can tell you the right or wrong way to worship and work with your deity BUT you should learn their mythos and their base wants, needs and what offends them. Misc Magic Info: 1. Your magic will not punish you because you can’t practice every single day. We are human, and sometimes life gets the best of us. It is okay. 2. Magic should never ever replace mental and physical health diagnosis and services from healthcare professionals. 3. “Black magic” is a racist term used to demonize the practices of people of color that are seen as “barbaric” or “uncivilized” to Europeans. Therefore “White magic” is considered good and “black magic” is considered bad. Energy is energy. Do not allow anyone to dictate your practice. That racist term is bullshit. Our melanin is magic. Our cultures and our roots are power. 4. You can purchase a Tarot deck from Amazon. You don’t need it gifted to you. 5. ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher in your home. 6. NEVER leave candles unattended in your home. 7. Coffee grounds speed up work. 8. Meditate. Leave the fuckery of the day at the end of the day. You will thank yourself in the long run. 9. Keep info to yourself. Not everyone needs to know what you are doing or all your secrets. 10. Do not bring your shoes into your home.

Having trouble visualizing?
I’ll be honest. As soon as someone says “Antheia, think of a bright light between your hands,” I’m out. While visualization works very well for me when I’m grounding, meditating, or shielding, I find it hinders rather than helps when I get to actual spellcraft and more complicated energy work. While visualization is a skill that is very useful and good to practice, here’s a few solutions.
Do something physical. When you’re putting up your shields, lift your hands with your shield. When you’re cleansing yourself or something, rub it down as though you were washing mud and grime off of yourself/the object. Imagine the heat of your skin is the energy that you’re putting into something. While you might feel a little silly at first, I’ve found that doing something along with your energy work can be really helpful in putting you into the right mindset. In terms of spell craft, sometimes making something that you can hold physically will help, as well.
Command it. You will do as you please. Saying it out loud can also be helpful if you’re having trouble visualizing. “I’m raising my shields/My shields are up.” “The energy will…” “My intent is…” Simple commands can be very effective, just don’t get too caught up in having good grammar or anything. Sometimes one word works. Sometimes you might want to dictate what you feel or what you want to happen.
Do some breathing exercises. These are not for everybody, but again, something physical for you to do. A very simple exercise is to imagine your shields swelling big big bigger when you inhale, and then coming in tight around you, right against your skin, when you exhale. Works with energy, works with some spells, helps with meditation and grounding.
Close your eyes. Sometimes, especially when you’re a beginner and can’t see what you’re doing, just closing your eyes can make a difference. By taking away that sense, you sharpen your other senses a little more, and it gets a lot easier to practice. When I’m in a very high or low part of my mood disorder, I have a lot of trouble concentrating on magic and on energy. I find that closing my eyes can help me by disconnecting me a little from what I’m seeing and I can pay more attention to what I’m actually doing.
Again, these are things that I do when I’m having issues with visualization. If they don’t work for you, try something else! These aren’t the only ways, and you can combine them however you’d like. I’d also love to know the practices that other people use in energy work, be it visualization, one of these techniques, a combination, or something else entirely!

Reading Tarot In Public Space.
Note: Before I begin, I encourage everyone to read the disclaimer within the Post Notes of this blog post.
A common question that I am often asked is how I gain permission to read Tarot for clients in public spaces and within privately owned businesses, what it is like, and any tips in doing so. Within this post, I will provide my personal experiences within these topics.
Fast Food Chains: For places like Barnes and Nobles, Starbucks, Mcdonalds, Wendy’s, Dunkin Donuts, Applebee’s, etc. I always call three days before. Before I call I make sure I have the date and times I wish to read Tarot in their establishment handy. I try to call during off-peak hours as I know that most of these businesses are extremely busy and for me I think it’s just the respectful and polite thing to do. I also make sure that I am speaking to a manager, supervisor, or the highest person in charge at that establishment. During the phone conversation, I introduce myself and explain what I am asking to do within their place of business. Most of the time people do not know what Tarot or Divination is so I have a mini explanation on what it is. I am attentive to their concerns and answer any and all questions I am given. I make it a habit to write down notes during these conversations and write down the name of the person I am speaking with, the time and the date of the conversation. If all goes well, I am granted permission and can proceed to read at their place of business.
The date of the reading, I call again and again introduce myself ask if it is okay to read Tarot at their establishment and say that I spoke to (person from three days ago’s) name beforehand and explain what I am requesting and the timing. I again answer any questions and concerns and write this person’s name down. If I am granted permission, I proceed with my plans for that day.
When I arrive at the establishment I introduce myself, say that I spoke to (first person I talked to) and (the Second person I talked to), explain the whole scenario all over again. If all three are yes’s. Then I am free to read Tarot and proceed with my client readings.
Libraries and Parks: When it concerns Public Libraries or Private Libraries within universities or federal buildings, I call a day in advance and speak to the highest person in charge. I introduce myself and explain what I wish to do. I usually always ask if they have a private study room available that can be reserved for a certain time. If all goes well, When I arrive, I show my ID and have a private room to do my readings at for the designated time I requested.
For public parks, there is usually a permit fee and application that must be paid to the Parks and Recreation Department. Most parks ask for a business license, entertainers license, or entertainers/performers permit. Once that is paid and the application has been filed, and approved, you are free to read at that designated park.
University and Student Centers: Being a University student myself, we have many different study areas and student centers around campus. Each university has its own rules and regulations of student conduct but I have had no issue regarding reading Tarot for my peers and clients within the University student centers and study areas. I have contacted the head of the Department of Student Life and Recreation in my university and was granted permission as well.
Train Stations, City Subway, Bus Stops, Buses, etc: As per the rules and regulations of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority here in New York, there are no set rules on reading Tarot for clients in public. I called the offices and the only thing they told me was that both my clients and I must follow the MTA’s rules of conduct the same way that performers who perform within public transit do.
Bars, Clubs, Lounges, Night Life: I arrive the day before and ask to speak to the owner or the highest person in charge that is available. I introduce myself and ask if I can read at their establishment. I always bring my cards with me so that I can offer a complementary reading to the owner of the Bar,club, etc. If all goes well I am able to read Tarot for clients within that same week.
Small and Local Businesses: For smaller coffee shops, bars, bookstores, etc I do the same thing with the bigger corporations except I usually respectfully offer a Tarot reading to the owner free of charge after hours, before the day I plan to read, or that same night before I leave. At both places whether big chains or smaller coffee shops, bars, bookstores, etc I always make sure to purchase something every hour and encourage my client to support the establishment if they can with a beverage before their reading begins.
Timing and Payment: When it comes to time framing readings, I usually do all my readings by appointment so the timing has been set by the client at the rate they wish to pay. All my readings are booked and paid online in advance. I do however get approached by people who want readings from me after I have finished client readings or people who have observed me doing a client reading in a public space. If I have the time and or energy, I am more than happy to provide readings for them. These readings are usually half my usual rate at 10-15 minutes per client.
Some things I’ve encountered:
Some establishments might ask you to bring proof of a business license, some don’t.
Some establishments can change their mind last minute.
Some establishments can ask you to leave if you form a crowd.
If loud noises are distracting to you or your clients, especially in a fast food restaurant or bar, you might want to opt for a quieter setting like a library.
I’ve made some great friends reading in public spaces.
I get to talk to people about Tarot who may be curious about it. Its awesome.
I get to break the myth that Tarot is somehow scary.
I’ve had people try to rip my cards.
I’ve had people try to steal my cards.
I’ve had my cards ruined by spilled beverages.
I have since purchased card sleeves to protect my cards from spills.
I’ve had people call me derogatory names for being a Tarot reader.
I’ve been made fun of and mocked.
I’ve been harassed by people.
Know your surroundings! Your safety, as well as your clients, is important!
Post Notes: Please do not remove the captions. Disclaimer: This isn’t the only way, the absolute right way or the way that you “should” approach this topic. This is the way that I choose to do things and what has worked for me for countless years. I encourage you to do your own research, to do what you are comfortable with and to tailor any advice provided henceforth to your specific needs and individual situation. Please keep in mind that you are essentially conducting your own business within another business and I understand that some people aren’t comfortable doing such things while others are. Also please keep in mind that there are various different rules, regulations, and laws that precede your location, state, country and the businesses in your area that can and will differ from those in my location. I encourage and open up this conversation to respectful debate and added commentary to supplement this post of any kind. Navigation: Table Of Contents | FAQ | Contact me

List of crystals and how NOT to charge them
I kinda need to make this list for myself and I thought I would make it here. Just to be as clear as possible, DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT, charge them this way as it will damage your crystal and depending on what kind it is, it can be harmful for you as well. This list will not be alphabetized because I’m a little disorderly (lmao).

Little Things For Witches Who Keep Quiet About Their Craft
-Stir clockwise (no one would notice that) -Drink herbal teas (it’s totally normal) -Clean with special solutions (scented cleaner wouldn’t make anyone suspicious) -Draw sigils that disappear quickly (out of sight, out if mind) -Keep plants around (plants are nice decoration for houses) -Cook with herbs (nobody would question it, and they’ll love your food) -Wear crystal pendants (if it matches your outfit, it’ll pass as mundane) -Buy magickal yet normal things (wind chimes aren’t weird) -Drink special smoothies in the morning (once it’s a daily routine, people won’t care) -Take walks in nature (it’s normal and calming) -Draw sigils under clothing (no one would know unless they have x-ray vision) -Keep a stash of candles “for emergencies” (better safe than sorry) -Go out with friends once a week (when I say friends, I really mean your coven, and if you aren’t in a coven, pretend you’re with friends and do witchy stuff on your own) -Add a subtle magickal twist to family holidays (specific color themes, taking the opportunity to use all the extra energy floating around, decorate with enchanted objects, etc)
This list is getting pretty bad so I’m going to stop now… feel free to add on!
-Incense and those himalayan salt lamps are popular now, so using those won’t look suspicious at all
-Bless your makeup, if you use it, or your soap or shampoo. You’ll be doing a little ritual every time you get ready in the morning!
-Friendship bracelets with specific colors!!!!!
for anon!
-Nobody ever questions crystal sconces, pretty things are pretty (they make excellent hearth/shield points) -tanks are nice (by which i mean inviting small water elementals that look pretty and like your upkeep of them) -honey and milk when you have neighborhood cats (traditional offerings for friendly Folk and ‘house keepsers’) -nobody will ever suspect ‘shiny objects’ (i.e. Start collecting lit gempoints for cheap gifts, stone balls, then even cousins and nieces can give you good gifts) -polish your wood with honey and natural oils (bless all that stuff) -knit color hearts to give to friends (people rarely open stuffed bits to check them for things (blessings etc))
Magickal Properties of Herbs
Just like Crystals, Herbs have their own Magickal properties that we can use in our rituals and spells. Here is a list to assist you on your Magickal journey of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Please use this information wisely and with positive intentions only!
Acacia Powder | Acacia is much revered in religious and magickal practice as a symbol of immortality and of initiation, in the sense that initiation is symbolic of resurrection. To contact the dead, dip Acacia leaves in holy water and sprinkle an altar with the water, or burn Acacia as an incense to communicate with or to memorialize the dead. Acacia leaves are burned on charcoal to induce spiritual phenomena and develop personal psychic power; adding Frankincense and Myrrh is said to intensify the effect.
Agrimony | Agrimony turns back jinxes that have already been made, roots that have already been laid, and curses that have already been cast. It also draws business by making merchandise attractive to customers. Agrimony combined with Rue and used as a wash or an incense is believed to send back the Evil Eye. To shield yourself from a threatened curse, mix Agrimony with Verbena and add it to Dragon’s Blood resin incense or Fiery Wall of Protection incense and burn daily until the threat has passed. Agrimony has hooked seeds; to attract business, brew into a tea and sprinkle this around to “hook” customers.
Alkanet Root | Alkanet Root is a deep, rich red, and has been used to create dyes for hundreds of years. It will stain any oil red, such as the famous New Orleans recipe for Red Fast Luck Oil. Despite its rich hue, Alkanet is not used for love spells or enchantments of the heart. Add Alkanet root to your workings for wealth and success in business, or to your protection working for added power.
Allspice | Allspice berries draw good fortune in business, bring luck at games of chance, and relieve mental tension. Allspice berries can be placed in a green flannel bag with other money herbs (Irish Moss, Five Finger Grass,Cinnamon, High John the Conqueror, etc.) for a money drawing mojo bag; can be used in incenses and floor washes to draw success to a business; and can be carried to ease mental tension when you are under stress.
Angelica Root | Angelica root is a powerful guardian and healer, said to enhance female power, protect children, ward off evil and improve health and family matters. To bless a new baby, place Angelica root, Althaea Root or leaves, a pinch of Flax seed and some Rose buds in a white flannel bag, dress with Blessing oil and keep it near where the baby sleeps. To purify your home, mix powdered Angelica root with Peaceful Home powder and salt. Put a pinch in each corner of each room and a pinch at each outside corner of the building. Angelica root powder, salt and Sulphur make a good jinx-breaking mix which can be added to Uncrossing powder to strengthen its action and undo the workings of your enemies.
Anise Seed | Anise Seed is said to increase psychic abilities and ward off the Evil Eye. A pinch of Anise Seed knotted up in your handkerchief and carried in the pocket is a simple yet effective protective measure against the Evil Eye. Its strength is said to be increased if it is combined with at least two other protective curios, such as Rue, Cat’s Eye Shell, or Agrimony, thus fixing it up as a mojo hand. For the inducement of spiritual trances and the promotion of prophetic visions of the future, make a mojo with Anise Seed, Althaea, Acacia, Calendula, Celery Seed and Star Anise and keep it beneath your pillow.
Anise Star | Considered a potent good luck charm, Star Anise is a common component of luck charm bags. Voodooists also frequently keep a piece of Star Anise on their altar as a protection and offering to benevolent spirits.
Arrowroot Powder | Arrowroot is commonly used in the mundane world to thicken sauces or glazes, and may be similarly used in the magickal world to thicken waters, potions, or incense. The dry powder is used to create dusting powders out of gambling incenses. Mix a fair amount of Arrowroot powder with your Lady Luck incense, and dust your hands before playing cards, dice, or slots. One may also dust a lottery ticket before scratching.
Asafoetida Powder | Ah, the Asafoetida. This herb is said by many to possess a rank, foul stench. Scott Cunningham claims that the mere whiff of this herb can induce vomiting. It is, perhaps, not as terrible as all that, but it is most certainly a strong, spicy, funky odor. That’s why we triple bag it. (You’re welcome.) When this cooking spice is simmered in butter, however, the scent transforms into something appetizing and appealing. Magickally, Asafoetida is used to protect against harm, repel evil, and harm enemies. After working with it, it is a good idea to wash your hands thoroughly with Florida Water, so others won’t know what you’ve been up to. Wear Asafoetida in a bag around the neck to ward off colds, flu, contagious diseases, and co-workers. Worn at the waist, it is said to repel the police. To stop someone bothering you, burn Asafoetida on charcoal, call the person’s name, and command him to leave you alone in the name of the Devil. To jinx an enemy, use a coffin nail to carve your enemy’s name on a black devil candle. Dress it with Black Arts oil, roll in Asafoetida and burn it on the night of a full moon. While it is burning, damn your enemy by name three times and make your petition in the name of the Devil.
Balm of Gilead | It is said to ease the plight of the miserable, grieving, and broken-hearted. It can soothe the pain of arguments and lovers’ spats, and ease problems caused by those who are trying to trouble your marriage or love life. To put an end to sexual discord, place a pair of Balm of Gilead buds in each of the four corners of the bedroom and a fifth pair under the bed. Carry Balm of Gilead in a pocket or conjure bag for reconciliation with an estranged lover, friend or spouse. Adding Balm of Gilead buds to a packet of Love Me incense or Come to Me incense and burning the mix alongside a white candle is believed by many to help one get over an old love and open the door to a new one.
Basil Leaf (sweet) | Not to be confused with Holy Basil (Ocimum Sanctum), Sweet Basil is the herb most likely found in spice cabinets. If you do not have this herb in your kitchen, shame on you! Add to cart! Also, add to spaghetti sauce, beef stew, and frozen pizza. Magickally, Sweet Basil is used for happiness and peace in the family. Soak dried Basil in water for three days, strain and sprinkle the water at your doorstep to bring money and success, drive away evil and have a happy family. Basil is a family protection herb, so when combined in a bath with love herbs, it is said to increase affection in the family. To protect the home from evil, brew a tea of Basil, Rosemary and Rue and use it as a cleansing and protective floor wash. Dried Basil can also be sprinkled about the kitchen floor and swept out the back door as a purifying floor sweep. To make a personal protection wash, boil Basil in water, strain out the leaves and wipe yourself downward with a white handkerchief dipped in the water. Do this every morning for nine days. On the last day, throw the remaining water out your front door, and your enemies cannot harm you.
Bay Laurel Leaf | Bay Leaves give protection, bring success and induce visions. Just as Laurel wreaths were worn by victorious athletes and soldiers in ancient Rome, so it is said that a bit of Bay Leaf in a bride’s wreath or bouquet will ensure a long, successful marriage. Bay Leaves, Solomon’s Seal, and Frankincense are mixed and burned on charcoal to increase wisdom, clarity of thought and insight. Carry Bay Leaves in a mojo bag to stop interference by unwanted people. Anoint a Bay Leaf with Bay Leaves can also be brewed into a tea into which you dissolve Crown of Success bath crystals; this spiritual bath is poured over the heads of supplicants while praying for victory in sports, politics and war.
Bayberry Bark | As you may be able to tell from the folk names of the Bayberry bush, a form of vegetable tallow can be refined from the plant. In the old days, a Bayberry Candle was made form this tallow. In modern times, as few of us refine our own tallow (or churn our own butter, or weave our own clothes), the alternative is to anoint a white or green candle with Bayberry Oil, or dress it lightly with the herb. Sprinkle Bayberry and Sassafras on the money in your wallet to make it last longer. To make a money mojo, place Bayberry in a bag with other lucky money herbs such as Thyme, Irish Moss, Chamomile, Allspice, Sassafras, Cinnamon, Alfalfa or a whole Nutmeg. Before handling your cash, dress the bag with Money Drawing oil and recite the 23rd Psalm.

Cedar Berry | Despite the folk names, these berries are neither from the cedar tree, nor the juniper tree; they are a genus unto their own. There are two different types of cedar berry trees, one male and one female. Both have flowers, but only the female produces a small waxy pod with a single seed; this is what we consider the “berry.” Many parts of the tree are used in traditional Native American medicine, including a paste made of crushed berries. Burn the berries to purify the energy in the home, aid in healing workings, or carry them for luck. Wearing a sachet or mojo of Lavender will attract love (particularly men), as will rubbing the flowers on your skin before going out into the world. A note on our Lavender flowers: they are … purple. One could even say … Lavender. They are not grey. They do not crumble at the touch. They have a very strong scent … as they are supposed to. Over the many years of selling our stunning Lavender flowers, we have received no comment more than “Wow, they’re purple! And theysmell!” We can only attribute our customer’s happy surprise to the fact that many retailers sell grey, powdery, scentless junk. As always, kind viewer, we strive to provide you with the best.

One may also grind it into a powder and sprinkle it into a wandering mate’s shoes in order to make him/her stay at home. Chewing a licorice stick is said to incite passion – as well as assist one in the cessation of smoking cigarettes. A Licorice Stick can make a handy wand during a love working.
Life Everlasting Flower | These tiny, brilliant yellow flowers are used in workings for youth, longevity, health, vigor, and even immortality. Life Everlasting may be used by burning, carrying a sachet or mojo (taking care that the flowers are always fresh – replaced regularly that they may never fade), or drinking an infusion or tincture. The flowers are a boon to any work of healing or rejuvenation.
Linden Leaf /Flower | The Linden is a tree of immortality, its leaves, bark, and wood used in rituals of longevity, health, and vigor, much like the shining Life Everlasting Flower. In Europe, the leaves and branches are used for protection: One may hang the leaves or boughs over the door for this purpose. One may also combine Linden leaves and Lavender Flowers in a pillow or sachet to promote deep, unbroken sleep.
Lobelia | Lobelia, as can be construed from its common names, is often used as a tobacco substitute, especially by eastern Native American peoples. Richard Miller, in his book “Magical and Ritual Use of Herbs” recommends its use alone, or with a combination of other herbs as an intoxicating smoking blend. Now. Kind viewer. If you are considering doing such a thing, let us now direct you to the first four common names of this plant. You may now make an informed decision. Other, non-vomit-inducing uses for Lobelia include carrying the leaves in a sachet or mojo to attract love (along with other herbs for the same purpose), and tossing the leaves toward on oncoming storm to redirect its path.
Lotus Root | Said to attract vibratory and magnetic powers to its user, Lotus Root is frequently burned with psychic development incenses. Some use Lotus Root as an oracle by writing NO on one side of the pod and YES on the other; they then pose a question and toss the root into the air. The root pod of the Lotus may also be used as an antidote to a love spell.
Lovage Root | Lovage has a widespread reputation as an aid to the love life; it can be used in mojo bags to strengthen sexual power and enhance luck in love. One may also bathe with the root in a sachet (or infusion of the root) to make one’s self more attractive and compelling. Do this directly before going out.
Mace Flower | Though commonly thought of as a flower, Mace is the bright red covering of the Nutmeg Seed. While intact, it resembles dripping blood, or a wax seal on a letter. Upon drying, Mace will take on a fiery orange hue, and resemble a flower. When thinking of Mace, most will recall a painful spray to the eyes. That, and an esoteric cooking spice, are the uses for Mace in the modern mundane world. In times past, it was used by prostitutes (mixed with vinegar) as a money-drawing douche; it was said that a man who had sex with a woman who used this would be under her control, and would seek her out and pay her well. Cunningfolk sprinkle Mace outside the door or window for protection; it is also an ingredient in some success incenses.
Marjoram | Marjoram is a potent protective herb; it is said to reverse the effects of any kind of negative spell and return them magnified to their sender. A little can be placed in each room of your home or business to deflect bad luck; it should be replaced each month on the night of the full moon. Marjoram is also sacred to Erzulie and Venus, and can be used as an offering herb in incenses when working for a new lover.

Keep the root in a jar next to a bowl of water where you burn your candles, and helpful spirits will be drawn to you. Burn Marshmallow with Myrrh, Frankincense, Copal or Benzoin to bring forth benevolent entities. Carry the root in a white flannel mojo bag with Star Anise and Angelica Root and dressed with Psychic Vision oil, and unseen helping hands will protect you from evil, illness and sorrow. It can also be worn in the shoe to lead the wearer to buried treasure.
Meadowsweet | Gravel Root, Meadowsweet, and Queen Anne’s Lace are all commonly known as “Queen of the Meadow”, though they are all separate plants. This can cause much consternation when referencing spell books and formularies; we advise looking further into each herb for the further purposes to determine which is meant. Aptly named, this sweet smelling herb is usually used in love workings alone or in combination with other herbs. One may also sprinkle the herb about the house to maintain a peaceful home.
Mistletoe | The occurrence of a Mistletoe vine growing on an Oak tree was one of the most sacred events to the Druids. On Midsummer’s day, after a heady ceremony and procession, the vine was cut with a single stroke of a golden sickle, and never thereafter was allowed to touch the ground. Mistletoe protects from all ills, from lightning to curses to illness, whether placed about the home or carried on the person. It is also a good addition to mojo bags for love, when there is a need to protect against love jinxes. It is said that if a couple kisses under the Mistletoe, they will stay in love. This sacred herb is an essential part of all cunning cupboards.
Motherworth | Motherwort is used for the protection of a family and peace in the home. It can be brewed into a tea and put in the bath, or in the rinse water when laundering the family’s socks or underwear. You can also keep a packet of the herb with the family photos for blessing and protection.
Mugwort | Mugwort is used for a range of purposes, including love, healing, protection, prophecy, and dreams. The fumes of Mugwort are also an excellent offering to her patron goddess and namesake Artemis. A common ingredient in dream pillows, an infusion of Mugwort can also be used to wash one’s crystal ball or scrying mirror. Doing so will increase its power. Burning of the herb, alone or with its sister plant Wormwood (Artemisia Absinthium), will heighten psychic ability. One may also drink an infusion of Mugwort before scrying for this purpose, or before bed to induce prophetic dreams. Carried, Mugwort will protect the bearer from all supernatural threat and bane. One may find, in older formularies and references, that Wormwood and Mugwort seem interchangeable due to their close plant relationship. In magickal workings, Mugwort is a worthy substitute for the pungeant, poisonous Wormwood.
Mullien Leaf | Mullein protects and controls. A packet of it can be kept under the pillow to prevent nightmares; wear it in your shoes or add Mullein tea to your bath for five days to give courage and drive away enemies. It is also a contender for “Best String of folk Names”.
Mustard Seed (Black ) | Black Mustard Seed causes confusion to enemies. To cause a household of people, or all the employees at a business, to misunderstand one another and make poor decisions, walk backwards across the doorway of the premises sprinkling a mix of Black Mustard Seed and Sulphur powder. It can also be carried in the pocket to confuse police or courtroom activities.
Myrrh | Myrrh is frequently burned with Frankincense to attract love and success. It is one of the holy incenses of the Bible. Myrtle | Myrtle was one of the symbols of the Three Graces (Aglaia, Thalia, and Euphrosyne), and a Victorian symbol of fidelity in marriage. Nymphs are often associated with the myrtle tree. Legend says that it was nymphs of the myrtle tree that gave humanity the arts of making cheese, bee keeping, and growing olives. Legend tells that the nymph Daphne turned herself into a myrtle tree to escape being raped by Apollo. This could explain why the myrtle leaf is considered a symbol of both love and protection. Myrtle can be added to any mix of herbs used for love drawing baths or incenses. When working a spell for love, wearing a circlet of Myrtle leaves will do one well. It is considered especially good in marital love work, to keep the relationship exciting. Along with Bay Laurel, it may be added to a bride’s bouquet or worn concealed on her person during the ceremony to ensure a long, happy marriage. However, despite the reputation of the Myrtle as drawing love, in a bride’s crown, it is worn to prevent early pregnancy, thanks to our dear Daphne.

A whole nutmeg can be carried on one’s person at all times, or it can be put in a green flannel bag with three silver dimes and three money herbs (Allspice, Cinnamon and Irish Moss) and anointed with money-drawing oil. An antiquated money drawing spell calls for the worker to drill a hole in a whole Nutmeg, fill it with liquid Mercury, and seal it with wax for use as a talisman. We advise, kind viewer, that you seek a less cancer-causing talisman than this.
Oak Bark | Perhaps the most sacred tree to the Druids, the mighty Oak was revered in the British Isles, as well as across Europe. Patchouli | This herb has gotten a bum rap since the sixties, when the artificial coal tar based scent was popular amongst the counter culture. Banish this scent from your mind, it is not accurate! The true dried herb smells of rich earth, and so is frequently substituted for Graveyard Dirt in Goofer Dust mixtures. It is most commonly used for love drawing, money drawing or success; it can be added to any related incense or mojo bag. Also, another contender for “Best String of Folk Names”.

Cut the top off of a black jumbo candle, turn it upside down and carve a new tip at what was the bottom. Carefully heat it a section at a time and press 99 whole Peppercorns into it all over the surface. Place it in a saucer on top of your enemy’s name paper and dress it by pouring a whole bottle of Crossing Oil over it. At midnight, the candle is carried to a deserted crossroads, or if possible to the enemy’s yard while he or she is away. It is set down in the middle of a large X inside a circle made by walking backward while sprinkling Crossing Powder diagonally from one corner of the crossroads or yard to the other, then around the X in a circle. As the candle burns, a detailed list of the enemy’s sins is spoken aloud, followed by the worker’s requirements for true justified and lasting retribution. Beware the tower of flames this will produce!

Witches, Cunningfolk, and Rootworkers use Poppy Flowers to induce sleep and dreams, and carry them to promote luck, wealth, and fertility.

When added to mixtures for love, Willow Bark adds a healing aspect and is beneficial to the person seeking to mend a broken heart.
Witch Hazel Bark | Witch hazel has long been used to fashion divining rods, hence the common name. The bark and twigs are also used to protect against evil influences. If carried, Witch Hazel Leaf helps to mend a broken heart and cool the passions.
Wood Betony | Wood Betony has long been used for protection and purification. Legend says that when carried, Wood Betony protects the soul as well as the body. On Midsummer’s Eve, toss Wood Betony on the bonfire before jumping it to purify yourself.
Wood Betony also protects against evil spirits and disease; it can be added to incenses or mojo bags for this purpose. It can also be burned with Agrimony and Uncrossing Incense to reverse jinxes.
Woofruff | As Master of the Woods, Woodruff may happily be offered to the Green Man. Woodruff may be carried by men for vigor, strength, victory in battle. Gay men will find Woodruff helpful when seeking a mate: carry the herb in a sachet or mojo, or combine it with love (or lust) incense mixtures. Woodruff may be carried by all for protection. It can be added to any mojo bag for strength and mastery over adverse conditions; you can also sprinkle Woodruff in an opponent’s path where he or she must walk over it, and it will help you master and control your enemy.
Wormwood | Most famed in the modern world as the defining ingredient in Absinthe, Wormwood has been at once romanticized, feared, revered, banned and applauded. Since Medieval times, Wormwood has been burned to promote spirit communication. Many of the old grimoires state that Wormwood burned in a cemetery will cause spirits to arise and speak. Wormwood can be added to any divinatory incense mixture to enhance the effects. Wormwood is also used in many love mixtures as an herb of persuasion. One may also carry Wormwood to protect against harm, evil, and witchcraft.
Yarrow Flowers | Used for hexing, this herb is added to any hexing incense and burned at midnight, normally on a full moon. It can also be used to promote courage and bravery. Write your fears on a piece of paper, cross them with your name written nine times, carry the paper in a yellow bag with a pinch each of Yarrow and Nettle, and you will overcome your fears.
Yellow Dock | Yellow Dock is said to attract luck to a business and to promote general good fortune. A tea may be brewed from it and added to one’s mop bucket to purify the premises. Use the tea to wash doorknobs to draw business into a shop.
Yerba Santa | Also called Holy Herb, Yerba Santa is considered an essential ingredient in Caribbean protection and banishing incenses. It can also be placed in an open dish on the altar, mixed with Blessed Thistle, Angelica or other herbs whose name contains the words ‘holy,’ ‘sacred’ or ‘blessed.’ This brings spiritual aid to the home.
Yohimbe Bark | Purpose: Aphrodisiac, careful hallucinogen, cursing, love, lust, virility, Pagan marriages or union.

Zodiac Moon
The Moon spends a day or two each month in each of the twelve signs of the zodiac. The sign the moon is transiting through can be used to good advantage during spell work.
Moon in Aries- A good time to perform spells related to jobs and all new projects related to money. Also a good time to perform lust spells, and to develop strength and courage. This is not a good moon for performing divination.
Moon in Taurus- This moon is excellent for spell work related to love, creativity, and inner peace. Spells done at this time take the longest to manifest, but the results will be very long lasting and stable.
Moon in Gemini- The perfect time for spells dealing with communications, healing, and unhexing. Be careful, the moon in Gemini can be unpredictable and unstable.
Moon in Cancer- Excellent for any spell involving the home, fertility, children, or divination.
Moon in Leo- Spells involving leadership, prosperity, fame and career are best done in Leo, but do not perform any spells involving love, or any other emotion, as Leo may actually counteract it.

Moon in Libra- Excellent for working a spell with a partner, and for magick involving marriage, couples, partnership, peace, and fairness.
Moon in Scorpio- Use this energy for exploring mysteries, the occult, divination, and sex magick.
Moon in Sagittarius- This is an excellent time to experiment with new techniques, but it is not a good time for psychic work or divination.
Moon in Capricorn- Perfect for spells to manifest life’s basic needs, and for stability.
Moon in Aquarius- The best time to work on behalf of others, but consciously stay focused on your heart to maintain a higher consciousness with others, and to avoid selfish motives.

☽◯☾ House Blessing ☽◯☾
You will need the following items for this spell:
Grind the following together in a spice mill or using
a mortar and pestle:
¼ c sea salt
¼ c lavender
¼ c rosemary
2 Tablespoons peppermint
1 tsp angelica
A small pinch of dragon’s blood resin and/or sandalwood
Try to get as fine a powder as you can. Combine with 1 cup baking soda in a jar and shake until thoroughly combined.
Scatter over your carpets and allow to sit for several hours and absorb negative energy (as well as funky smells from pets and what have you) before vacuuming up. On a wood or tile floor sweep the debris into a single bowl and then flush down running water if possible.
Sea salt, of course, gives its grounding energy to the mix, and is a basic purifier as well as a consecrating agent.
Lavender is known for its loving properties and healing compounds, as well as its peaceful scent. Rosemary is much the same, but also has a strong protective component.
The peppermint further strengthens the mix all three together are antimicrobial and anti-critter but won’t bother your companion animals. Neither will the angelica, which is edible–but also a strong banisher of negative energy.
The dragon’s blood resin or sandalwood pack a good hard energetic wallop; I call dragon’s blood the Cosmic Can of Whoop-ass. A little goes a long way, and it can stain your carpets so go easy on it.
15 ways to remove negative energy from any space and replace it with positive vibrations
We often talk about places and people exuding ‘good energy’ or ‘bad energy’ – when we really mean the energy is high or low. In scientific terms, describing energy as high or low is actually describing the rate of vibration or frequency. The higher a ‘vibration’ of a person or place, the better we feel. And the higher the vibration of our homes, the better we feel in them. They become a safe haven, a space to recharge our batteries and lift our spirits.
1. De-Clutter
Removing clutter, duplicate items and things that we no longer have a use for can free up space, and leave us feeling much happier and more comfortable. Pare down your wardrobe, dump the ‘just in case’ items you never use and always choose quality over quantity. Other ways to de-clutter your home include borrowing instead of buying, using multi-purpose products and spending on experiences rather than ‘things.’
2. Burn Herbs
The burning of herbs, a practice known as smudging, has been used for thousands of years to cleanse the air of impurities such as bacteria and viruses. Smudging is also used as a traditional mystical ritual, changing, clearing and shifting the surrounding air. Take a dried bundle of herbs and light it, then quickly blow the flame out, allowing the smoke to waft around the house. Both the healing properties and scent of the herbs are released into the air. While sage is by far the most popular herb to smudge with, pine, rosemary, and lavender are also good options.
Smudging can be used to clear your space when:
•You move into a new home •You begin a new job or career •A guest leaves your home •Before meditation •You have just had an argument or suffered an illness
3. Diffuse Essential Oils
Essential oils work to cleanse your home and help you feel light and uplifted by diffusing their unique and pleasant scent through the home. Many also have potent antimicrobial properties which remove airborne viruses and bacteria. To raise the vibrations in your living space, try diffusing rose, basil, cypress, frankincense, juniper, lavender, myrrh, sage, peppermint, sandalwood, cinnamon, rosemary and eucalyptus. If you don’t have a diffuser, you can also mix up a cleansing room spray and spritz it around the home.
~Mix one tablespoon of vodka, six tablespoons of filtered water and 10 to 40 drops of essential oils of your choice in a small spray bottle. Shake well before each use.
4. Switch on Himalayan Salt Lamps
These softly glowing salt lamps are a natural source of fresh, clean air – just what you need to cleanse your home while providing an aura of calm. Because they attract water, they have the incredible power to remove dust, pollen, smoke and other impurities from the air. Himalayan salt lamps also give off negative ions which mean they increase energy levels, remove static electricity, neutralize electromagnetic radiation, encourage sleep and improve overall mood.
5. Play Music
Music is more than just entertainment or an art form. It can have a soothing and healing effect on the whole body and alters the vibes in whatever space it fills.
Several studies have shown that the right kind of music provides pain relief; benefits the heart, blood, and immune system; enhances learning; fights fatigue; and promotes sleep.
Of course, its ability to improve our frame of mind is beyond doubt. For the most mood-boosting and positive vibrational effects, choose Classical, Jazz, Folk, Orchestra, Soul or Opera music. If they don’t do it for you, crank up anything that makes you feel good – whether that’s Jason Mraz, Florence, and the Machine or Tracy Chapman!
6. Add Plants and Fresh Flowers
Experiencing nature and all it has to offer is a surefire way to enjoy positive vibrations, mindfulness, and an uplifted mood. Eco-therapy (being in nature) has even garnered the attention of the scientific community as many studies find it fights depression, and improves mental health and well-being.
Why not bring nature indoors and attract positive energy to your home? One way to do this is to fill your living space with potted plants and fresh flowers – their bright colors and fragrance also make for a welcoming space.
According to experts, certain plants are better than others at promoting positive energy and improving well-being. Some of the best include cactus, bamboo, jasmine, lavender, miniature roses, rosemary, mint, chrysanthemums, aloe vera, and orchids.
7. Consider Crystals
Using crystals for healing and positivity dates back to ancient times. The Sumerians made magic potions from quartz, the Greeks wore amethyst as amulets, and the Chinese used jade in medicine.
Try adding these popular crystals to your home, said to have numerous benefits:
•Turquoise – the master healer, highly regarded for its protective and ‘lucky’ properties. •Bloodstone – a powerful energizer, boosting enthusiasm and emotional well-being. •Smoky quartz – helps you let go of negative energy. •Rose quartz – helps to open and heal the energy of the heart. •Carnelian – attracts fortune and encourages creativity and motivation. •Quartz crystal – balances the body and clears the mind. •Celestite – relieves stress and inspires happiness. •Citrine – helps you to be present and live in ‘the now.’ •Aventurine – attracts new opportunities.
Even if you don’t believe in the healing powers of crystals, they will add some bling to your home which is guaranteed to improve your mood!
8. Choose Colors That Positively Affect Your Mood
The colors used in our home are a direct reflection of our personalities and can affect our moods and our thoughts – in the most subtle of ways! Our reaction to a color is unique to us so choose what feels right for you. In general, we are affected by color in the following ways:
•Red – raises a room’s energy level and gets the adrenaline and blood pumping. It can be too stimulating for some people, and some spaces. Crimson can invoke feelings of rage and hostility. •Yellow – is energizing and uplifting, it captures the joy of sunshine and signals happiness. Too much yellow can create feelings of frustration and anger. •Blue – can be calming, relaxing and serene but can also cause feelings of sadness. •Green – the most restful color for the eye, it promotes comfort, calm and growth. •Purple – dark tones are associated with luxury, creativity and the dramatic. Lighter versions bring the same restful quality as blue, but with more warmth. •Orange – evokes excitement, enthusiasm, and energy.
9. Light Candles
Candles have been used for millennia to provide light, convey calm and highlight celebration. Their deep yellow glow is hypnotic, reflective and a great focal point for meditation. Burning any candles will help increase the vibrations in your house, but choosing your candles in certain colors and scents (like those listed throughout this post) will raise them even higher. Remember that many store-bought candles can be dangerous to your health and contribute to poor air quality. Opt for soy-based candles fragranced with natural essential oils or, better again, make your own.
10. Let the Fresh Air In
A stuffy, oxygen-depleted home can lead to feelings of lethargy and low mood. It’s just a plain unpleasant place to be! One of the easiest ways to refresh the air is to open your windows. Just letting in a few minutes of fresh air each morning before you go to work will cleanse and rejuvenate. Increase the oxygen levels in your home and you’ll soon feel more energized, you’ll sleep better and enjoy improved overall health. Other ways to keep your indoor air feeling fresh include avoiding chemical air fresheners, washing smelly clothes right away and keeping your pet beds clean.
11. Meditate
Raise your own vibrations through positive thought, clear intention and a focused perspective – also known as meditation! When you do, you will begin to feel happier and less stressed. You will enjoy greater concentration, awareness, and self-acceptance. There are physical benefits too – like better heart health, immune function, and longevity. Once you begin to feel the beneficial effects of meditation, you’ll soon begin to associate them with the place you meditate – your home!
12. Fill Your Home with Beauty & Happy Memories
Make your home an extension of you! Choose items that have meaning, that make you happy and that inspire you. When choosing to keep or remove each piece, ask yourself if it evokes good or bad memories, or has positive or negative connotations. Artwork, books, trinkets, signs, memory jars and framed photos all serve to turn your home into a place of positive energy – just don’t stand for clutter!
13. Cut Down on Electronics
Having the television turned on can affect the atmosphere of a given room – depending on what is playing and how it makes you feel. Be conscious of when and what you watch on television. What’s more, there is a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the amount of time spent watching television and eventually being diagnosed with depression – something that will definitely lower both your vibrations, and those of your home!
14. Remove Toxins
Having a house filled with chemicals and other toxins is sure to negatively impact your health, your mental well-being and the vibes around you. These are quickly and easily eliminated by choosing to use natural substitutes. For example, overhaul your cleaning supplies with these 40 green cleaning tips for every room in your home. Clear the chemicals from your personal care products with these natural beauty tips, and make sure to eliminate these sources of hidden toxins from your kitchen and pantry.
15. Create a Space for Relaxation
While your entire home should feel like a place you can relax and enjoy, carving out a sanctuary in a room, cubby or corner just for you is important. Appreciate this space and relish the time you have for yourself – spend at least ten minutes there every day. You can use it for meditation, reading, yoga, or anything else that will revitalize you and raise your vibrations!
I absolutely love this!
Why Your Mind Shouldn’T Be Going “Blank” During Meditation
The most common understanding of meditation is this idea that you should “empty your mind”, a phrase used time and again in modern discussions of meditation, but it is actually totally wrong, and a common misconception of what it means to meditate.
