Eli was surely about to blush like crazy, but that’s the best look the other had. Slowly pulling away, he looked down at his boyfriend. “Let’s go get some food, babe.”

Eli laughed, setting the instrument down & lying down next to Matt with an innocent smile on his lips. “I’m just saying we should get food … and then cuddle. ‘Cause you know I won’t be able to sit still if I’m still thinking about food.” He said, kissing him quickly.

Matt scooted over to make some room for Eli, wrapping his arms around the guy as soon as he was on the bed. “Fine, we can get food before we cuddle.” He admitted defeat, rather quickly but who could say no to that face? He grinned, feeling the quick kiss. “You gotta give me a real kiss, though. Kiss for food.” He then pouted his lips, waiting for another kiss.

Matt had no clue what he was in for when Eli invited him over. This was definitely not what he thought would happen. He chuckled, getting comfy on the guy’s bed as he heard him sing. A laugh escaped his lips when he hit the low notes. “Geez. Tell me how you really feel.”

His body shook with an amused chuckle. “It’s a little early to apply labels, Matty.” He said, eyeing the hand on his knee. “A bit of both. Although I have to admit you’re very good at seducing. I didn’t expect that. I’ve always pegged you as the more innocent type.”

“A guy can try.” He smiled, looking over at Cormac. He enjoyed their closeness, something that would be happening a lot more now he hoped. “That’s because you’ve never been in a relationship with me. Don’t really waste my best material on friends.” He leaned in, kissing the guy’s cheek. “Do you want me to be innocent? Because I can be whatever you want me to be.”

Cormac frowned, staring at Matt with the most accusing look he could muster. He didn’t do anything push-worthy, did he? “Well, if anything, it’d be the first gay relationship that I screw up.” Chancing a look at Matt’s face, he found his eyes tracing the little reveal of the man’s tongue. “Maybe we can.” He agreed, leaning over to rest his head on Matt’s shoulder. “I like this new side of you, though.”

“Maybe that’s what you needed. Maybe straight relationships weren’t your thing.” Matt smiled, looking over at Cormac. It was a new feeling to look at the man and feel more than just friendship vibes from him. Feeling the guy’s head on his shoulder, he moved slightly to get into a better position. “Yeah? And what side is that? The horndog side? Or the side where I care about you more than I probably should?” He teased, placing his hand on the man’s knee.

Despite his nerve, the reply drew out a quiet chuckle from Cormac. “Yeah, considering my history, it’d be a wonder if this,” he gestured between the two of them, “didn’t end up in flame. Maybe that’s why Taylor Swift and I are friends. We’re both shitty partners.” He said, leaning into the flushness of the sofa, his eyes seeking out Matt’s. “You sure? Because everything’s gonna change. People don’t go back to being friends after a relationship.”

Matt scoffed, rolling his eyes as he gave Cormac a playful shove. Name-dropping was something the other did, most times without even realizing it. “Yeah, maybe that’s why.” He licked his lips, taking a second before nodding his head. “As long as you’re okay with trying, I’m okay too.” He scooted closer to his friend. “Just because every other relationship has failed doesn’t mean ours has to, you know.” He caressed the guy’s shoulder. “Maybe... maybe we can work out. Maybe we can be different.”

Cormac gathered his courage, and sat next to the other man, not too close for their thighs to touch, but enough to feel the heat seeping from Matt’s body. “What’re you watching?” He asked conversationally, shifting slightly to lean into the flushness of the couch, his eyes searching for Matt’s. “Hey, so about that—” Cormac started, hesistation clear in his voice. “Look, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have ran out like that—”

He shrugged, keeping his eyes on the television. “Burger King commercial.” Matt replied, it was always hard being mad at Cormac. He knew what was probably going on in the guy’s mind. This had been on him, having moved way too fast. He sighed, placing the remote on the coffee table before turning to face his friend. “Dude, I get it. You’re scared, but... nothing’s going to change between us. I love you, Cormac. As a friend, before anything else.” He placed his hand on the guy’s shoulder. “I wouldn’t let a potential shitty relationship end that.” He teased, wanting to lighten the mood a bit.

Cormac splashed cold water at his face. What was he afraid of? Not being gay - because honestly, he had been curious - but being gay with Matt. The last time could be charted towards giving it the college go - there were things Cormac had tried and liked, but was content to keep it at that. Although, he did want more. With Matt. And that worried him. All his past relationships had gone up in smoke; he didn’t want to risk losing Matt like that.

Eventually, Cormac ventured out, still unsure of what he should do.

Matt had turned on the television, focusing on whatever was playing instead of what had just happened. He figured why Cormac had disappeared, but they were alone. If it was discretion the guy wanted, no one else would know. He heard the bathroom door open, but kept his attention on the program. Maybe it would be better if he just headed home.

“Matt…” His voice is a mere whisper; he was about to leave, their argument having gotten too much for him, made him scared of what may come next, what pain would be in the future. He didn’t want to face it. But then … he’s saying those words & Eli is wincing slightly. Rubbing his eyes roughly, he turns to face Matt, gaze directed at the floor. “I… I need you too…”
