First draft. Hopefully on to the canvas next! This is my first time trying anything artistic since 8th grade, so I’m a anxious to see how it turns out. I hope the recipient loves it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it

I didn’t love you right.

I didn't pull you aside enough, to kiss you passionately, to tell you I love you, to make you smile for no reason at all.

I did those things, not enough though.

I didn't humble myself enough for you, make you feel special unannounced, convince you how much you were worth when you didn't need convincing.

I didn't cuddle you enough, make myself uncomfortable to lay closer to you, or sacrifice my time enough for you.

I thought I was doing good, when really I could've done so much better.

It's all waiting for you when you come back. I promise, love.

Have you ever been at the water’s edge, looked at all the river stones at your feet, and wondered if some of them came from the same rock at one point? It’s likely some did. You could find two of the same color, texture, and weight, but if you bring them together, like puzzle pieces, you’ll see that they don’t fit together. The river made sure of that. She, in all her strength and grace, pushed the stone along, picking him up from stagnation. He tumbled, and broke. She soothed his pain with her cool kiss and he began to take shape. His edges and vertices became soft and gentle to touch. Together they stayed, better for one another. He gave her stability, and she gave him shape. Out of her arms, he may have several uses, several purposes, things he may be good at. But he will only do one thing perfectly. He will only want one thing if you take him from his place. And that is to be back again, surrounded by her, content to let her wash him away completely.

Dear soulmate,

I hope I find you soon. I hope you’ve found what you thought was love, only to learn that it was someone special to you brought to your life to teach you lessons. I hope you’re taking care of yourself and embracing all the good things about you. I hope you’re doing well even through all the heartbreak life may bring to you. I hope you’re not letting just anyone touch your body. I hope you’re saving all your best pick up lines, jokes, poems, songs, romantic nights and promises for the person you feel the most connected with. I hope you surround yourself with positive people to remind you that the world isn’t always bad. I hope you always treasure time with your loved ones because you never know when you won’t get anymore time with them. I hope you are taking every advantage of chasing your dreams. I hope your making decisions based on what you want for your future including your future family. I hope you keep working hard even when things seem like they’re gonna hold you back 10 years. I hope you never lose the desire to keep changing your furniture around until it feels just right. I hope you hold special people you meet close to your heart and I hope you remember to call your nana even when your busy. I hope you find time to keep painting new things and improving the house you live in because after all it is the place you dwell. I hope you give out plenty of smiles and always try to make the world softer than you found it. I hope you’re practicing how to take care of things so our children will be well. You don’t have to be perfect. I hope you stay up late sometimes wondering if there’s someone out there wondering about you too. I hope song lyrics you listen to fill the spaces where words can’t. I hope you keep treading through tough waters knowing there’s someone out there who will love you and take care of you and push you to be your best. I hope you already know all this and I hope you know I’m here, just for you.
