three episodes into witch hat atelier and I am struck by how accurately it depicts the true preteen girl friendgroup experience. I will never hate agott for lowkey endangering coco's life because I have also been twelve years old before and I would've done it too. none of the girls, even (and dare I say especially) coco, snitching to the authority figure about agott's involvement is peak preteen politics. tetia sick with worry at an in-group conflict, kind of unsure how to navigate her own sense of justice clashing with a peer's logical argument. richeh hungry as hell. agott and coco bob-off. all foundational preteen experiences.

one piece had an active fanbase before I was born which is kinda crazy to me. sanji's been getting dicked down for longer than I've been alive. incredible

zoro and sanji are sooooo into promises and oaths it's unbearable. dork ass losers probably exchanged vows before they even had their first kiss. imagine sitting at the Sunny's dining room table at 8am sharp and you hear stuff like "nobody else can kill you, I feel it in my bones, I will chase you to the edges of the earth to make sure of it" whole time they're arguing about who has to pass the salt to usopp. everyone else thinks they're banging but this is all a prelude to like holding hands or something.

ace's first on screen presence has him wearing both a jacket and a black hat, making him both the most clothed we ever see him and also demonstrating that he clearly has different colours of the same hat for different occasions. realistically this choice was deliberate by the animation studio to make him look more mysterious, giving him a recognisable motif whilst simultaneously building intrigue and not spoiling the whole fire power thing but. what's the in-universe explanation. he doesn't know there's an audience. this leads me to believe that he donned this outfit in a deliberate attempt to screw with Luffy and be all mysterious and psych Luffy out by pretending there's some guy following him (except it didn't work because he'd already left Drum). first of all - peak older siblingism. second of all he's sooo extra I'm surprised he didn't wear that same black hat when confronting Blackbeard to set the mood better. third of all do you think it's actually a different hat or did he spend the time between alabasta and drum painstakingly peeling paint off of the orange one. much to think about...

I think it's probably because he's easy to talk to (unfortunately). the man will walk into the kitchen for a snack and end up having to listen to three hours of someone's latent homosexual ramblings. whole time he decidedly Did Not Ask. and it's not like he can say anything either. it's like being the beleaguered customer service rep except the customers live in your house and will beat you up if you don't just stick to making vague noises of assent at appropriate times. truly incredible. what a man.
