A LOOK INTO HIS LIFE ➝ BIOGRAPHY
While most of the Smythe family focused on entertainment and show business, Alexander King and Vivienne Smythe were both politicians who cared more about their perfect image than anything else. Their only child, Cameron, was forgotten in the midst of elections and fundraisers, of kissing ass and laughing at humorless jokes, of strengthening their wallets instead of strengthening the community. Cameron never enjoyed the events he had to attend and never agreed with the stances his Republican parents took. They came from old money; they only cared about the 1% and those who had a similar lifestyle than them, which was something Cameron was never okay with.
As Cameron grew up, he began fighting back against what his parents believed in. As soon as he reached adulthood and got out of their grasp in New York by going to university in the west coast, he became a person they loathed privately but couldn’t publicly. They threatened to take away his inheritance, to denounce him, to act as if he wasn’t a part of their family, but he knew they ultimately wouldn’t do that. The scandal that would come from their actions would be even worse than just letting Cameron party with celebrities in Los Angeles and start a band with a bunch of misfits. And so he did. He was often on the pages of TMZ and earlier on, yet another clickbait page on Perez Hilton’s site. They loved that he was so different from the King’s in New York.
Cameron and Smokescreen became a hit in the alternative rock scene and put out a handful of rather popular albums. The problem that they endured though, was that their contract was too constricting since they’d been so young when they signed and hadn’t read the small writing. It took years for Cameron to get out of something that made him rather uncomfortable and by the end of it, everyone went their different ways. Cameron, unlike the rest of the band, decided to pursue music and although his career is taking off yet again, the people on his team are often worried about his image. He’s known to not back down from a fight and known to say what he thinks and though they know that comes from resentment toward his parents, as he still wants to ruin their image, they can’t seem to get through to him that he’s ruining his own in the process.
In 2019, he was on Celebrity Big Brother for the hell of it, but he was a polarizing figure who got into fights with everyone but still was one competition win away from making it to the final and possibly winning. Although the outcome was the best considering everything, it was still a PR nightmare after he got out of the Big Brother house. After a lot of fighting, he’s agreed to do whatever they have in mind for him, even if it means faking a relationship for him to look his best and like he’s beginning to mature.
