The sun was shining softly through the windows as the blonde one crawled back into the bed, with a big tablet of food with her.
“Cami baby where have you been?” Her girlfriend asked, still half asleep.
“Oh just got you some breakfast.” She smiled softly, kissing the other one's cheek. “Thought you might be hungry after last night.” The blonde one smirked.
“You’re a literal angel sent from heaven.” Hayley mourned as she tried to adjust to the light. Camille smiled, reaching for the glass of orange juice. “You know, what if we’d go out tonight? There’s this stupid festival tonight and I thought we both could use some fun.”
“I’d love to.” Camille answered happily. “You know I'd go anywhere with you.”
“Oh I count on that.” Hayley smacked between ger bites. “Damn this croissant is fucking amazing.”
“Only the best for the best.” The blonde one responded.
They both enjoyed their breakfast and their alone time. Times like this had been rare for a while now but after they were able to defeat the DeMartels things had been a little calmer around New Orleans. Aurora had made it her mission to make Cami’s life a living hell but Hayley was there to stop her. She’d give everything for the woman next to her and it was moments like this that reminded her of that.
The way the sun made her face glow or the way her smile warmed up the whole room. She loved it when Camille was happy and her smile lit up her eyes. In fact, she loved everything about her. She was everything she had ever wanted in life. Their relationship started off as friends but after Hope's birth, Hayley realized that the love she had for the blonde one, was more than just platonic.
She remembered the moment when they decided to tell Cami about Hope and that she was still alive… She’ll never forget the face Cami made when she saw her for the first time. This was more than just joy and excitement, no expression on her face was more than that. She was filled with so much love and affection, something Hayley hadn’t seen before often. That’s when she knew it.
Hayley never really realized it but she couldn’t keep her eyes off Cami, like ever and it didn’t get unnoticed. The other one could feel her lingering gaze on her all the time. First she thought hayley was just watching over Hope but she soon realized that it was so much more than that.
It took them both a bit to figure their feelings out but in the end they made it and they had never been happier as when they were together. And now she was here in her bed feeding her with strawberries and expensive juice. The brunette couldn’t believe how happy she was. Except for Hope, no one in her whole life had ever been able to make her happy like that but after time, she asked herself if Cami felt the same.
Hayley may look confident from the outside but when it came to Cami…
She never thought she’d ask herself that question but after her wedding with Jackson she felt like their bond was complete, as if nothing could ever separate them. That was until Jackson got torn away from her but the bond they shared, it stayed. She felt like she was still connected to him and that he’d watch over her even when he wasn’t with her anymore.
Now she asked herself if she’d be able to feel that again but with Cami. She knew this wasn’t necessary but there was a part in Hayley that wanted to be as close to Camille as possible. She was yearning to be her wife.
Now, Hayley had thought of asking Cami dozens of times now but she never had the courage to speak the words out loud. She was just too afraid of Cami saying no to her, she couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
So when they were walking through the streets of New Orleans, together with hundreds of people it was no surprise that the thought occurred to her once again. She looked at the woman beneath her, beautiful with her hair curled up, her lips painted in cherry red and all she could think of was that she wanted to be with her for the rest of eternity. She couldn’t get her eyes off her, I mean how could she, Cami looked like a goddess in that white dress, or more like an angel. The more Hayley stared at her, the more she realized that she had to know. She had to know if the woman she loved with all of her heart would be ready to tie the bond with her, for always and forever.
“You remember the corner over there?” Hayley smiled as she pointed her finger to the corner to her left side.
“Of course, how could I forget?” The blonde vampire chuckled. “That’s where you couldn’t stop rambling about how great I was until…” She paused, looking down at the street.
“Until I kissed you.” Hayley chuckled. “God I was so nervous.”
“If you only knew how bad I was already crushing on you.” Camille admitted.
“You were?” Hayley asked, clearly surprised.
“How couldn’t I? Have you ever looked at yourself?” The other woman flirted. “You’re… You’re everything.” She continued, making Hayley blush.
This was it. This was the moment Hayley told herself but the more she thought of it the more nervous she got.
What if she suddenly changes her mind? What if she realizes that she doesn’t want to be with me forever?
But how could she know if she never asked? So she took all her courage together in order to ask that one question she’d been dying to ask for ages now.
“You know my love, this was the best day of my life. You’re the most important person in my life, after Hope of course but when I saw you laying in that bed, dead…” She paused as she took a deep breath. “It felt like the whole world stopped. The thought of losing you, you know living without you… god I just… I can’t. You and Hope… you’re my everything Cami O’Connell and I can’t, I mean if you feel the same of course, I can’t imagine my life without you. Like ever.” She smiled nervously. “I’m… You see I’m a mess around you, my heart starts pounding twice as fast and…god I sound so incredibly stupid and cheesy.” She chuckled, before continuing. “Point is Cami I love you and I’ll never stop loving you.”
“Hayley Marshall are you…” She stopped for a second, trying to catch her breath. “Are you asking me to marry you?”
The brunette smiled shyly, trying to stay cool. “Hm I don’t know… depends. Do you want to spend eternity with me?”
At this moment it felt like the world was stopping around them. All they saw was each other, all they cared for was each other. Hayley was right, her heart beat twice as fast when she was with Cami but in this moment, as she stood there in the middle of the crowd, waiting for an answer, it felt like it stopped.
