Post camp depression has sunk in.. to all my fellow counsellors out there.. you will survive until next summer
Motivating your fellow staff at staff training like
When you’re late for an activity and your senior leader complains
hey there! so my camp is less than a month away and its my first year of being an assistant counsellor! do you have a list/ ideas of what I should be bringing since its going to be totally different from a camper? thanks :)
Hey there! Congrats!
You don’t need much, I know I bring less as a counsellor than I did as a camper. We are given shirts and sweaters at my camp even at that level so I’d just follow my “What to Bring to Camp” list under “Tip & Tricks”, good luck and have a great summer!
Greeting staff that you don’t like enthusiastically when in you’re head..
When a kid says something inappropriate and you’re like..
When you’re cleaning up after the kids leave and find the biggest messes
What are ways to deal with homesickness at camp?
If you go to our blog under “Tips & Tricks” there is an entire post on the subject! Best of luck!

Advice for counselors in training?
Okay, CIT is one of the most rewarding and fun times you have at camp before you are staff. It is a tough, but amazing experience. The friends you make during CIT will be your friends till the end. You are the future staff team, so remember that. That being said, listen to your counsellors! They are there to teach you how to be the best counsellor you can be. Pay attention, and try your best. Participate in everything, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. Make sure to stay fed and hydrated throughout the weeks. It is important that you try your best to get enough rest, as CIT is quite exhausting at times.
This is going to be the best summer of your life, so be prepared to make memories! Take lots of pictures, and when you’re a counsellor you will be able to fully appreciate this blog. Good luck!
When a camper asks you how old you are and you’re like
Camp is a month away!
Just wanted to let you know that this is the blog I link all my counselors to when they ask what the job entails
YES! Oh my god. That is amazing, thank you so much. Make sure they know it's not all complaints, it's actually the best job in the world.
