This is my journey through Photography and a few other mediums. Until September 2012 I worked in the Addiction field for the last 9 years and had been studying Counselling & Psychotherapy with the aim of becoming a Group Analyst (Therapist), which i would still like to do one day..... Now however i am wanting to do something more creative and have some fun. I am now studying Photography at a local adult college. This is my Journey through pictures, watch me as i learn, develop, make mistakes, grow and most importantly have some fun through Photography. Young Shot is taking over the Gents Cloakrooms at Unveil’d, a three day event featuring exhibitions, a photobook / zine fair and a program of artist talks. 

We invite you to submit photographic work around the theme ‘Gents’, which may be taken as literally or broadly as you like.

Please send up to 10 individual images, titled firstname_lastname_01, 02, etc to:

with a brief introduction to your work and a link to your website or portfolio.

Please only submit if you are aged 25 or under.

Please note, there may be a small fee for each artist, but this will be discussed prior to show and you will be able to opt in/out.

Submissions close: Midnight 25/09/2014 (GMT).

The event will run 10th-12th October 2014.

This is what my anxiety feels like. Personally, photography has been my one true form of expressing myself. I’m not so good at verbally telling someone how I feel and knowing that they truly understand me. This is why photography and art in general are important: when I’m able to create a scene in my head and correctly translate it into an image for the world to see, I feel like people will be more apt to understand how I’m feeling or what I’m trying to say. I’ve struggled with managing my anxiety for the past 2 or 3 years and after some intense therapy sessions last year, I’ve made some beautiful progress. I haven’t had a serious anxiety attack in over 4 months. Because it’s not easy to convey my feelings (particularly with how my anxiety feels and what goes on when I have an attack or feel an attack coming), I have created this image as a visual representation of what my anxiety feels like before I’m about to have a serious melt-down. The light in the image is meant to signify the balance and positivity I’m trying to maintain while suppressing an attack all the while my skin crawls.
