He could tell just by listening to her that sheâd grown and done some soul searching, but that didnât make him any less angry at himself and her. Brushing his unbloodied thumb across her neck and looking into her eyes, he knew he missed her for sure. Heâd tried to play it off and move on, but he knew he still loved her. âYou say that, but Iâll always feel like I wasnât enough. Like if I gave you more attention that anybody elseâs wouldnât matter.â he admitted. âAll I wanted was you but you wanted everything⊠And I couldnât give you that. I couldnât give the person I loved the most what she wanted and I donât feel like I can give anybody anything now. If you have all the answers, tell me why I still want youâŠâ
When he reached out to her, Candy briefly flinched, unsure of what he was going to do until she felt his thumb brush against her skin. That simple touch made her break as she felt the tears well up in her eyes because she missed his embrace so much. Turning her head away from him slightly because she felt she had no right to cry, Candyâs eyes closed as she tried to hold in the tears that threatened to fall. âI am so, so so sorry.â She whispered, her voice laced with remorse and regret. âI donât know why I did it. I really donât because youâre amazing and youâve been so good to me and I love you. I just--....â Pausing, Candy sucked in a deep breath and forced her eyes to reopen and look at him again. âI donât have all the answers, Corbin. Just donât blame yourself for me being a fuck up. I know I donât have a right to ask you for anything but I need you to not blame yourself for what I did because none of it was your fault. I did this to us, not you, and knowing me, I probably didnât even need a reason to do so.â With a sigh, she realized just how horrible this was. âIâm a terrible person--like I am literally the shittiest person in the world. I donât know why you still want me, but you shouldnât, you can...and you deserve someone who is way better than me.â Reluctantly, Candy pulled away from his touch and stood onto her feet. âI really should go, I think Iâve caused you enough pain for not only a day but a lifetime.â
