as much as the idea of nyx is cute and whatnot... please don't jump me for this... i didn't want feysand to become parents lol i just hate the pregnancy trope so much, and feyre is so young, she's literally the youngest sister, there was no reason for her to have a baby at 21. i also don't like the idea that people started to push that they want something to happen to nyx so feyre can go full momma bear as if she needs that to display female rage. i don't want her character to be centered around her being a mother, i want it to be centered around her being the fucking high lady. again, this doesn't mean i hate nyx. the fanarts are adorable and nesta's description of feyre as a perfect mother made me soft, and i'm sure feyre's future scenes with nyx, if we get any, will be absolutely adorable, but that's not what i signed up to feyre for, so i feel cheated on as the reader. i feel the same way about bella and edward having renesmee, i don't like bella as a mother and i never wanted her to be a mother, specially when she JUST turned into a powerful vampire at fucking 18 years old. what is up with female authors and writing their main female characters getting pregnant so young (or at all, for that matter) in a fantasy setting when they should be sending these girls to war or some shit like that lol the same "mother rage" narrative was pushed onto bella in breaking dawn part 2 too, and although it was cool to watch bella being so protective and whatnot, the story should have been about HER and not her daughter. see how both bella and feyre had risky pregnancies too lol i swear sjm copied twilight.
adding to this, even now when people talk about feysand they always add nyx to the mix and sometimes, most of the time, i forget he even exists lol i don't want to see feysandnyx, i want to see FEYSAND. i don't want to see mother!feyre, i want to see FEYRE. sjm could still salvage this by killing nyx off and building feyre's rage and grief, i would LOVE to read a book about how feyre would handle losing nyx, that would actually be interesting and compelling and make the whole thing more palatable.
I agree except for killing him. They’ve been through enough 😭
Really though. I don’t hate or love pregnancy tropes on principle. I like characters becoming parents if it fits them.
But for Feysand it didn’t. At least not yet.
Feyre explicitly says she wants to wait. And Rhys fully supports her (AS HE SHOULD). So for her to turn around not even a year later and switch that decision felt like a slap in the face to people who decide to wait for kids.
And even if you make the argument “it’s fantasy! It’s based on medieval times!”
They have contraception in this universe. The reports on it during medieval times are contradictory and I’m no historian. But either way it wasn’t like it is today, and though it’s not clear how effective it is people seem to think it’s reliable enough.
They’re faeries that live for centuries if not millennia. And as far as we know they don’t reach menopause for centuries if at all. At least assuming they don’t until the Fae appears the human equivalent of middle aged. And given Beron is the only one described as being somewhat middle aged and he’s 800…
But SJM really really wanted to do a self-insert so that’s what we got.
Personally I think she could’ve had it without having Feyre reverse the decision. Just make him a whoops baby 🤷🏻♀️
I would’ve been much more interested in seeing how they navigated that than the Instant Nesta Redemption Magic Wand.
Agreed 100%.
I honestly think the Feyre Pregnancy plot was just created as a tool and not as something to develop Feyre's character or Feysand.
It was used for SJM to self insert; for Feyre to be powerless (so they SJM can give Nesta something to do instead coming up with a creative way for Nesta to be integrated in the inner circle); for Rhys to be shown as somewhat negative or bad (which I honestly don't think worked, everyone who hates Rhys, hated him before Acosf too); for again Nesta to instantly redeem herself. Basically Feyre's Pregnancy was for everyone BUT Feyre. Which is just fucking sad, Feyre who always had to share everything with everyone couldn't even have her LIFE THREATING Pregnancy be about herself
On a sife note: I really liked Nesta's potential for redemption and turning her anger into something powerful and something that could actually do good. Instead none of her actual issues were ever addressed, instead of fixing her relationship with her own sisters (who she owes her life too) she was just given people who be nice to her (because not everyone is a bitch to strangers*Nesta*) and she was nice too back (because she kinda doesn't have any other choice and also doesn't have any personal baggage with) to Whitewash her character.
