I’m sorry for being a shitty RP partner. Sorry for making you wait for me to reply and also for just being crappy in general.

Turbo's breath hitched, and he withdrew his hand quickly, curling it against his chest. He'd forgotten about the scars across his knuckles. They hasn't been there last time he and the king had met, and he was concerned that maybe King Candy would figure out how they'd gotten there.

"I-I don't like anybody to mess around with my hands," he said quickly.

The king's expression hardened as the boy tore his hand away from his grip. Turbo obviously didn't want him looking, but who would? Still.. it seemed suspicious, and KC was concerned. Opening the door to the infirmary, he tutted.

"I was not messing," he said, shepherding him inside. "I was examining. And the nurse is going to do more than that!"

Oh…fudge. As her name was bellowed out in a voice too  familiar and unique not be immediately recognized, the royal racer flinched. Slowly but surely, her small and hunched stature pivoted around in order to face her father; caramel-apple hues round with caution, licorice boots squeak against the edible marble tile of the castle in the process. As her vision landed on the king, however, mixed emotions struck her.

The instinct to hug him rushed over her first, she having not seen him since he’d left home.—Was he home for good? That urge was put on pause though, having remembered he was in the middle of scolding her. So instead, the nine-year old clears her throat.

"Not to?.. It just—slipped, Loli’Pops!"

Those eyes that could melt a man like a fire candy ant under the glare of a magnifying glass were turned on him, and he had to fight hard not to pout and wave her over for cuddles and forgiveness. Then again... she did say it just slipped out...

No. Not this time. She wouldn't be let off so easily! If he let her just slip up every now and then, she'd never stop, would she? So he managed his best 'how many times have I told you' face, arms folded haughtily across his unimpressive chest.

"It just slipped one time too many, young lady!" he pointed out, raising his eyebrows at her. "I should think you ought to apologise! And.. and..." Coming up with suitable punishments was super hard when she looked at him like that...

I put in mixed efforts with these, and it was like, 2 AM.

Drama. Things just seemed to happen around him without him noticing recently. It wasn’t that he didn’t care. What he didn’t want to admit was that it was less a lack of care or feeling, and more that he was scared to break down. He had to be strong for his daughter, even if that meant pretending, hiding, running away.

"No, I… I understand," he murmured, pushing the next door open. “And… I do have to apologise to you for making you feel that way. I assure you… it was never my intention. I’ve just… as I said. Preoccupied."

"Right. Okay. That’s okay. I’ve been…preoccupied…too."

And if the king’s preoccupation had been even slightly similar to Turbo’s, than it was no wonder he had disappeared. Still…Turbo had felt like they’d been making some real progress before then. He’d been holding out home that maybe, after another few weeks, King Candy would be able to look at him without discomfort and anger lingering behind his face. And now they’d been set all the way back to the awkwardness of square one.

Turbo absently lifted his injured hand to wipe some of the blood from his palm. Surely that cut would complement the discolored bite wound scars that now stretched across his knuckles.

He said nothing more on the matter. Any further discussion might have required him to actually discuss it, and his preoccupation was his own, and no-one else's. And therefore he wouldn't trouble anyone with it. In fact, as they turned to the door leading into the infirmary, the king was a little relieved to see the boy fussing, just so he had an excuse to change the subject.

"Stop that," he reprimanded gently, taking the boy's wrist carefully. "The nurse will see to th..." There, decorating the child's hand, were what looked like bite marks, ugly and raised. There was no hiding the king's stunned reaction as he examined them.

"Vanellope!" His tone was stern, but with the same edge of silliness it (rather unfortunately) always carried, as though he weren't entirely serious. And perhaps he wasn't; he couldn't ever stay mad at her for very long. "What have I told you about speaking like that?"
