If at First you Don't Succeed... || Skyla and Caitlin
Amazing how perceptive Pokemon could be. In response to the young aristocrat’s outburst, the Whirlipede stared at Caitlin blankly before rolling its merry way along behind a nearby bush. Letting out a loud sigh of relief, Caitlin was by no means tactful when it came to the insect’s feelings.
"Nasty little creatures those bugs can be. I’m just happy it wasn’t a Scolipide," the blonde declared, waving her arm dismissively at the direction the poor insect had gone. She too, had abandoned her Pokemon at the airport.
"Well, there goes my plan of looking for a Ranger." Shame really. Caitlin was in the mood for a berry. But the two had other pesky things to worry about, namely, the wind. The storm’s presence was becoming harder and harder to ignore, and by the looks of the incoming storm clouds, it wouldn’t take long before it would practically demand attention.
Stroking her blonde braid, Caitlin suggested, “I say we go look for some shelter. Preferably,” she looked back at the log, “away from that general direction.” It wouldn’t take long for an angry Whirlipede to rouse up a hunting party for a pompous blonde girl in pink.
Walking in the opposite direction they came from, Cailtin was perfectly content walking away from the bug Pokemon. That is, until a lightning bolt struck a nearby tree. With a singed foundation, the now smoking tree collapsed in the duo’s path and Caitlin ended up in Skyla’s arms. Again.
Skyla let out a long sigh of relief as she watched the large insect roll away. Caitlin was right; Good thing it wasn't a Scolipede. Skyla usually had no issue dealing with bug Pokémon, but now that she was without her teammates, the creepy was put back into the crawly. Atleast somewhat.
"Huh... I'm glad it left before things got ugly. It didn't seem too mad either, not like I'm a professional bug-whisperer." The pilot took a deep breath in, before letting out a frustrated sigh through clenched teeth, making more of a 'ssshhhhh' sound. "I'm sorry this had to happen, Lady Caitlin, I feel like a walking bad-luck charm right now." Skyla's sight was sharp, but she couldn't spot a single ranger.
"I think Rangers usually stay a bit closer to civilisation than we are... Which is a shame since we could really use one right now. I'd vote for some shelter too, but how would we go about doing that? I just see trees on all sides." She crossed her arms and glanced about, really trying to spot anything that might pass as decent shelter. Everything was pretty sheltered, but such tall trees during a storm weren't exactly--
CRASH!
Yes, such tall trees weren't exactly safe during a storm like this, as one of the trees was most harshly struck by a particularly fatal voltage. Skyla let out a loud yelp and as quickly as the tree had fallen, the young noblewoman had jumped up into Skyla's arms. She was pretty light, at least.
"Tch... This just gets worse. Whatever shelter we do find, it should be something closer to the ground. Thankfully the trees and ground around here are far too damp to be catching on fire too easily." Skyla gently attempted to set Caitlin back on her feet, before she'd make an effort to aimlessly walk about to find that shelter they so sought after.
