Really good run
I ran for 50 minutes without stopping (which is good for me ok), I would have made it to an hour but I needed the bathroom SO badly (as in both types hehehe tmi you’re welcome) so I had to stop in a pub. Really frustrated, because I did an out-and-back run and wanted to see if I could run faster on the way back than on the way, but oh well, still pleased.
Only thing was my HR was really high (average 191, max. 199). I only got my HRM at Christmas so I have no idea if this is normal for me or what. It could be down to any/a combination of the following:
-I tend to have a high HR anyway
-I’m not at my fittest atm
-The HRM is a bit dodgy (unlikely because it’s Polar and it’s correct at rest)
Ah well, I think HRMs are more useful in the long term just for making sure you exercise at a consistent pace each time. I think you should judge individual workouts by listening to your body and gauging how far to push yourself.
Right, I’ve just had a nice big breakfast of porridge and scrambled eggs, now I’m off to shower and then hit the library! I’m feeling really good about today #endorphins. Hope you all have a great day too lovelies!
Healthy horror: Nevermind takes its biofeedback scares to Kickstarter — and could reduce your stress, too (interview)

I want to buy a heart rate monitor.. Not sure which to get. Anyone have any suggestions?
3 breezy miles with The Allman Brothers Band! Definitely one of my all time favorites!
Prerun warmup song was “Statesboro Blues”. Great opener for a concert or a run.
Next up “One Way Out” just as i started my run. Listening to this song as i jogged down the street made me think of the opening scenes of some of those teen movies from the late 70s/early 80s. I’ve seen girls wearing those horrible looking gym shorts we all wore back in those days. I think they are making a comeback. I’m not sure why.
This was a great run. Nice consistent pace. Negative splits even! I’ve been running sans HRM lately. Sometimes too much data during the run is counterproductive. But I do like to have the data to look at later. I think I’m going to start wearing it again, but change my watch display so it doesn’t show my HR.
I’m also thinking this will drive me crazy and I’ll be trying to change my display while I run. I guess we’ll see.
The weather today in southern New England was perfect for running! Hope everyone else had a good weekend and all of you marathoners and other racers had great races this weekend. I’m looking forward to reading race reports and seeing some race photos!
I’m thinking of saving up for a Polar watch for myself after I get my car fixed. i’m just looking for something to more accurately track my heart rate and calories burned. I like the cute little pink one a lot of people have, I believe it’s the FT4? For those that have one, can you recommend which is the best?
Heart Rate Monitor?
I’m thinking of ordering the Polar FT4 off of amazon. Thoughts? Reviews? Is it worth it?
Holy shit I’m killing the game!! This HRM is amazing! I’m burning WAY more calories than I thought I was! So glad I made the investment 😁

Heart Rate Monitors should flash sweet little messages like "keep going" or "you can do it." Yeah...that would be awesome.
