Romain Grosjean doing his best Mark Winterbottom “wrecking my car with a drain cover” impression.
The timing has gone wonky and apparently Jolyon just won.. Hahah.
I’m gonna go through the race again just so I can find Kevin saying “Fucckkk this” and watch it 15 times
24 Hours of Le Mans my arse, more like the 24 Hours of “Fuck, not again”... God freakin damn bloody nation. Can someone just finish and win..
1970 - Jochen Rindt, Piers Courage, Jo Siffert - Monaco
If there is a god of Motorsport, I have a question: “WHAT IS YOUR GOD DAMN PROBLEM WITH FERNANDO?!”
Can I catch a break fuck me, Will, Davison, Josef, Hinch.. Far out.. This better be a good fight at the end to make up for this clusterfuck of a race.
FUCK THIS FUCKING SHIT FUCK OH MY GOD HONDA FUCK OFF NOT THIS AS WELL AS F1 YOU TWAT OF AN ENGINE Oh my God, I knew it might happen but with 20 to go, fucking stab me, whatever.
OK, this is not gonna be a fuel race, this is gonna be a dog fight.. hang on. More yellow could change it a bit but probably a fight.
For all us F1 people, Fernando is going to have a tough time at the end with the company he might have, so don’t get overly excited.. Helio and Tony are legends in these parts.
Although not right at the front, Helio, Fernando, Tony, Servia all have a good strategy at the moment, they can do one more stop and run flat chat if there’s even a couple of laps of yellow, Chilton, Davison and such aren’t in such strong positions..
If everyone pits now, there should only really be one more stop, depends on yellows and how it plays, but can get home with this and then one more on full green.
And there we go, the first Honda engine to expire.. Had to be RHR didn’t.. Fucks sake. We were all expecting one or two to go.. but yeah.. Worrying.
I’m the biggest Fernando fan, I can’t overstate that, but leading at the moment isn’t really that great to be honest, it shortens the fuel windows, makes the car and engine work harder and doesn’t do a lot for him come lap 180.. Also a good car now doesn’t mean a good car at the end.. It’s great to see him at the front and fingers crossed but this isn’t necessarily a good thing right now.. That crash makes me question life itself though. Glad my fave Kiwi is ok and got out on his own.. I love IndCar because of the intensity but that was damn fucking scary.
So actually, the fact he’s now being eaten up a bit could be quite decent in the long hall?
I’m also not 100% on all of these crashes but major kudos to everyone involved in building these cars bc shit me they shouldn’t of walked away from that
Hard to predict honestly, but’s it’s not the end of the World that’s for sure, they’ll keep tuning the car at each stop, but running behind other people saves a lot of fuel and gives you more flexibility on the windows, don’t have to run flat out all the time. This race is a very hard thing to predict.. If you ever want to see what mid-race car tuning does, watch last years race from Pocono.. Will Power’s car went from terrible to invincible. And yes, mega kudos to Dallara and IndyCar, to see someone get out of that without a scratch is incredible. I really do appreciate how far safety has come..
Still all to play for then? (or ‘race for’ to be politically correct but shh)
Kind of seems a bit like a free for all with tonnes of contributing factors and a case of whoever pulls it out of the bag on the day?
Oh wow really? I’m not sure it’s a good idea to watch two of these races at the same time, especially considering i don’t completely understand whats going on, but playing by the rules is never fun!
For what seems like such a ‘simple’ race, it doesn’t half carry it’s fair share of differing aspects that you have to get your head around.
Absolutely, it’s still all to play for, no one is out of it yet. Even if you’re running 20th, you can be there at the end. They that you don’t win this race, but it decides who will win and lets them get it. It’s really got no form guide at all.. It’s about being in the right spot at the right time. Don’t watch it now :P But it’s on YouTube if you end up getting hooked on Indy :P Oval racing looks simple enough, but it’s the 1000s of tiny little things that make the difference, it’s a different game to circuit racing. Strategies are so different too and can completely change at any minute, you’re at the fate of luck in this.
So it’s probably not going to be a lovely little drive where we kind of know a few laps from the end and they just roll over all nice and lovely? It could potentially be like the hunger games?
Oops, i did say that i was a rebel and i guess i’m just a little bit hardcore ;P (even if i am pausing it after every 30 seconds bc something else happens in Indy - like when all of a sudden Max was leading and my poor Manor loving heart almost burst, or stopped idk)
Thats what i find so funny bc before all of this i was like “why would you want to sit and watch them go around in circles - or ovals to be political yano - but i got myself through quali and understood it and now i’m holding my hands up bc it’s really not just driving around in circles.
I don’t want to speak too soon but i think i’m getting the jist of it all. I think. But we’re just going to roll with it.
Oh man if you haven’t seen the end of an Indy500 before hang the fuck on.. Holy moly, there are no friends and no holding back, shit gets serious, quick. That’s going to be the hardest bit for Fernando, it’s not like fighting in a GP is, it’s a crazy slipstream passing war.. Max’s car and the Ganassi’s look fairly strong at the moment, it’s good to see him going well.. Make sure you pay full attention with 40/50 to go though :P I’ve never been one to dismiss ovals, but I didn’t get it (Not American, I’m Aussie, so it was an odd concept to me too) but I’ve always been fascinated with IndyCar and once I started watching and learning I fell in love with it quickly. End of this race will be hot, so hang on.
