Imagine having an argument with Caleb and sleeping on the couch
The argument hadn't been loud or explosive; Caleb would never even think about raising his voice at you. He would rather die than do that. But the fight was still intense, with frustrated words being thrown back and forth between the two of you as each of you tried to get the other to see their point.
Caleb wanted you to stop being so reckless on your missions, as you had been coming back with way more injuries, while you thought he was doubting your capabilities and being too overprotective. The back and forth had been going on for an hour before you finally had enough.
"If you're going to continue seeing me as this weak, helpless girl, then I don't even want to be in the same room as you anymore!" You said sharply, head raised high as you narrowed your eyes at him in anger and annoyance clear in your tone, daring him to say anything else.
Grabbing the throw blanket draped on a nearby chair, you quickly turn on your feet and storm out of his bedroom, making sure to close the door behind you to put distance between you and Caleb.
Making your way to the living room, you flop onto the couch with a huff. Arranging the pillows more forcefully than you should have, you begin setting up the sofa to sleep on for the night. Covering yourself with the blanket, you rest your head on the pillow and immediately regret exiling yourself to the couch.
While the couch offered no issues when you and Caleb watched the TV, the same couldn't be said when lying on it. The pillows offered no support for your neck, which made you feel uncomfortable, and the cushions were too lumpy for your back.
"This is fine," You mutter to yourself, pulling the blanket up to your neck while you close your eyes. "It's only for one night. A Deepspace Hunter can handle a lumpy couch for one night."
Hearing the bedroom door opening, you grow still, listening as footsteps grow closer. It doesn't take long for Caleb to reach you as he stands next to the couch. Caleb says nothing at first, taking the moment to look at you. When you continue pretending to be asleep, he lets out a sigh. "Pipsqueak, I know you're not asleep. Take the bed. I'll stay on the couch."
You let out another huff when he easily sees through your ruse. Opening your eyes, your eyes instantly meet his as he looks down at you. "I like the couch; it's very cozy. I want to sleep here for the night."
"I can see you're uncomfortable. Stop being stubborn and just take the bed."
When you shake your head, too stubborn to admit that he's right, he lets out another sigh.
Feeling yourself being lifted off the couch by the familiar humming sound of his evol, you let out a yelp as the blanket slides off of you. Hovering in midair, you cross your arms and narrow your eyes at him. "Caleb, put me down!"
Ignoring your request, he begins walking back to his bedroom while you float behind him like a balloon as you stare at his back while you sulk.
Setting you down gently on the bed, Caleb looks at you with a soft look in his eyes. "If you don't want to be near me, that's fine, but I won't be able to sleep knowing that you're going to wake up tomorrow in pain while I had the bed."
Running a hand through his hair, he lets out a sigh. "We can continue talking tomorrow once we both have had a chance to cool down. Just please take the bed. For me?"
