Writing Challenge (Week 16): Favorite Movie
Honestly, it's hard for me to choose one movie from so many that I really really like. So, I think I’m gonna choose 3 movies that I considered as one the best movie I’ve ever watched. Okay, let’s see...
1. Pay It Forward (Directed by Mimi Leder)
One of the best movie ever. I think this movie is the only drama movie that I really love. The story is about Trevor McKenney (Haley Joel Osment) who live with his mother who become alcoholic after her divorce with her abusive husband. One day, Trevor got an assignment from his social studies teacher, Mr. Eugene Simonet (Kevin Spacey). The assignment is think of something to change the world to be a better place and put it into action. After thinking and looking around his environment, Trevor has an awesome idea: When someone does you a big favor, don’t pay it back, but pay it forward to three new people. Imagine.. if you give a favor to someone, ask that person to not paying it back to you, but paying it back to three new people. Then, those three people will paying it to another nine new people and that nine people will pay it to another 27 people, etc. And yes, the world will be a better place. Trevor try to prove his idea. He helped his neighbors, a homeless woman, and even his teacher. And finally, his efforts has a huge effect to his town. Well, actually I hate the ending. Trevor died because he was stabbed by his friends. But, the way all people appreciated his efforts with came to his funeral always give me a chills. Since the first time I saw this movie, I feel so amazed with the story. Honestly, I don’t like drama movie. But, this movie has a good messages to every people who watched it. I never get bored everytime I saw this movie over and over again.
2. Life Before Her Eyes (Directed by Vadim Perelman)
Imagine you are in this situation, what will you do..: You are in the toilet school with one of your best friend. Suddenly, you heard the gunshot and all people are scream. Less than a minute, that sound is getting closer and closer and you can’t hide anymore. Then, someone with a big shotgun open the toilet door and you realize that now, you are face to face with the shooter. The shooter said he just want to shot one person which means between you and your close friend. So, what will you do..? Okay, in this movie, Diana McFee (Evan Rachel Wood) tried to imagine if she was the person who still alive, not her close friend, Maureen (Eva Amurri). She found out that her life isn’t better than before. She used drugs and being abused with her boyfriend. In her imagination, she saw that her friend’s life much worthy that hers. Back to the toilet school when the shooter asked them the person that he's gonna shot. Maureen offered herself first, but Diana told the shooter to shoot her and yes, the shooter shot her and she died. This is one of a great movie ever. If I was Diana, maybe I will do the same way. I was ready to get that bullet for my close friend. Not just because my life isn’t worthy, but I never ready to lose the person that I really care the most.
3. Five (Directed by Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore, Alicia Keys, Penelope Spheeris, Patty Jenkins, and Jeanne Trippelhorn)
This movie is about the awareness of breast cancer. It is include five short stories about five person who struggle and never give up to fight their cancer. This movie also gave us some informations about breast cancer and warned us that 8 from 10 woman under 30 y.o get diagnonized with breast cancer. So we should pay attention to our health because early detection could save us from this cancer.
Actually, I have another awesome movie in my list, like Cloverfield, The Happening, Inglourious Basterds, The Proposal, and Saw 1-7. And yes, I never get bored to watch this movie over and over again.
