attaccare bottone (idiomatic)
Yes, you may "attaccare i bottoni alla camicia" = you may sew the buttons on the shirt, but you can more often and more esily attaccare bottone con una persona: when you talk endlessy to someone! Attaccare bottone translate exactly as "to talk endlessy" and we also have the noun for those people who we meet in the street and never let us go because they never run out of things to tell us: they are "un/una attaccabottoni". And we may even decide to change sidewalks when we spot one of them in the distance, haha! (If we are not one of them ofc!)
= I bumped into Marisa, she started talking endlessy...!! This is why I am late. ["un" in this sentence is added to stress how endlessy and long Marisa's talk was without explicitly telling it. Not sure if it's a regional connotation or not though.]
"Attaccare bottone" can be also used as a synonym of "flirting", chatting up with someone or approach them, with the intention to know them in a "romantic" way, but that's a second meaning given to the expression.
The kinda negative connotation of the sentence "attaccare bottone" is related to the long process a tailor needs to do to measure and sew the button in the right position for their client: they need to stand still for a lot of time before the job is done.
Now tell me, have you ever attaccato (un) bottone con qualcuno?
Architectural
i learned about the ancient Italian city of Matera, where up until the 1950’s, some people were living in caves as old as 9,000 years (x)
This is what those houses look like:
You can still visit them, they were preserved as they were at the beginning of the ‘900.

Io: E come potresti? Dovresti portare me, un fardello poco docile. Non devo portarmelo da solo?”
…[…]…
S: “Mi mandi via?”
