Late Christmas summary

Yes it's 2015 but I was too busy over the festive period to blog so here's a late recap of my Christmas festivities:

Took the 2.5 hour train ride down to Woonona (near Wollongong) to go to Jemma's house. Played beach cricket (I'm awful), got a lift on the back of a ute, had delicious shortbread Christmas cookies and vodka jelly shots in orange slices, watched a Venus Flytrap eat a fly and got a box of fantastic LUSH goodies from my secret Santa Mikey. 

Christmas Day @ NY's

So they say Christmas is all about family... but mine didn't do anything interesting on Christmas Day so I crashed NY's Christmas Day celebrations instead. We feasted on delicious food (omg that chicken pot?pan? pie was amazing), played Taboo and Settlers of Catan, pigged out on Ferrero Rocher, drank a biiit and I had never played Sims before so recreated NY and myself as Sims characters. Driving to NY's was also my first time driving solo, now that I'm all inde-Ps-endent :D 

I'd just like to say that I think our Sims versions are far too frumpy for our totally fabulous selves.

Boxing Day

Headed out to the city to use a $50 David Jones gift card I got on my birthday. Woke up late because I came back from NY's past midnight so only got to the city around noon. Understandably, it was chaos but I got what I wanted. Would have loved to browse more but had to go home for my uncle's Christmas party.

The food (especially the pavlova) was delicious. My cousins and I engaged in one and a half intense games of Monopoly which started a slight addiction that resulted in me playing Monopoly online when I got home. Oops.

Ah, the annual tradition of shopping at my local suburban Westfield. I'll save my (tiny) haul for another post x

Hijinks @ Sydney Aquarium

From the makers of Jurassic Lounge, comes the aquatic version of an 80s-themed good night out. Did all the standard aquarium stuff like admire fish and sharks and dugongs and also played a giant game of Snakes and Ladders (I lost), giant Connect 4 (I paired up with a stranger and won), vintage Mortal Kombat (I lost) and decorated my snap band (remember those??) with pink polka dots and rainbow spots (clearly mine is prettier). Also, I beat a room full of people at Just Dance 5 but it was Wii so my strategy of focussing on what the Wiimote-holding hand is doing at the expense of my legs/head/everything else meant that I won even if my dancing was terrible LOL.

My inner tightass is still a bit disappointed though that we didn't get our complimentary beer/cocktail, contrary to what our ticket said.

Cirque du Soleil: Totem

My first Cirque du Soleil show and I loved it. The circus acts (with a bit of comedy thrown in) were ridiculously awe-inspiring. My favourite act was a group of unicyclists who caught bowls and balanced them on their head without using their arms. Unfortunately, one of them missed once but it was still an amazing act. Parking was also pretty cheap at $6 for 2-3 hours so overall it was a pretty great afternoon (even if we only got there with 2-3 minutes to spare oops).
