It always bothered me that the Flying V was done four or five times in the films, obviously with mixed results, and Banks was never a participant! Was he ever available? In D3 he was on Varsity, D2 he was maybe injured? What about D1?

Ok so I had to look it and no Banks has never participated in a flying v. It always seems to be Jesse at the head with Guy, Averman, Charlie, and Fulton. In D3 Jesse is replaced by Charlie and I think Connie takes the other spot.

In D1, Adam is taken out by McGill before they perform the V. Also they only seem to perform it once in each movie. So, Adam is limited to when he can be involved. The only time would be in D2 but like I said he isn't involved. Also wanted to note that was after Adam injured his wrist which makes me wonder if the team knew he was hurt.

I also want to bring out a little something that kills me!! I really wish there was a moment in D3 where Adam was invited to be a part of the Flying V and it was like he was finally being accepted into the team for real, after everything that happened in D1 and after the whole varsity fiasco. Idk I just think it would've been real neat 🥲

i’m rewatching tmd2 to deal with the loss of tmdgc 😔 but y’all don’t understand how feral this scene gets me every time. jesse is one of the ducks, if not the duck, who - before this point - always seems so sure of himself and every decision he’s made. he’s the leader, the one who put himself between a possible drug dealer and the team to protect district 5. the one (and the first) who tells bombay to take his shit elsewhere. the one who holds banks accountable for his past bullying. the one who tells russ to stop heckling his team. 

but when bombay apologizes in d2, jesse - for the first time - doesn’t know what to do with it. he’s not 100% convinced of bombay’s motives and doesn’t trust him anymore. he hesitates. and district 5/the ducks have always followed him–hell, they’re in the middle of a hockey game and no one dares to make a move because jesse won’t start the flying v. which isn’t realistic at all because hockey is so fast-paced but whatever!

what does jesse do? he looks at charlie. and charlie immediately understands, and tries to encourage him to make a move because he knows jesse’s conflicted. idk idk!! it just speaks volumes of the trust jesse has for charlie. like, jesse’s still looking at charlie when goldberg tells him to “just do it”, and then they look at each other later when bombay says “ducks fly together”!!! their friendship is so often overlooked but they are the moment!!!
