He is fine with the physical contact, then something switches in his brain and he physically reacts. He pushes her away, he is angry at himself for getting close to her. She is visibly confused and possibly upset at the shove. He sees this and his face goes from angry to a realization of "What have I done?" before he looks down at his hand.
He realizes in that last frame (to me) that he pushed her away on impulse- out of self preservation based habit- But he didn't want to. He had to.
I know there isn't much of a difference between the 6th and 7th image here, but when in doubt look for likes under Jax's eyes!! If there are bags present, he is upset or sad. Very subtle change sometimes ^_^

Okay, but also to add a layer of WTF-ery to this - right before this scene, Pomni’s gun interacts really weirdly with that same hand. IDK. I’m brand new to the fandom, so maybe deeper divers can do more with this information, but I HAD to share.
