People will claim to be a fan of some thing and then hate all of the themes and motifs and story lines and plot lines and protagonists and antagonists like man I donβt think that you actually like it here

Huh. My bad, I didn't know there were rules on how to enjoy something π
There are. For all of the bitching and moaning, you do have to ultimately like something for what it is to be able to say you enjoy it. Thatβs what those words mean. Hope this helps π
Twilight Clown Takes Special EditionβTeam Rosalie Fan Dumb
Because this one character gets all the clowns to the yard, trying to taste her milkshake. My response? Om nom nom NOM
βStephenie Hates Rosalie!!11!β
Who gave her the degree in astrophysics in the first place?
Who gave her that sympathetic, tragic backstory?
Who made her into a car girl and mechanic?
Who gave her a redemption arc and have her be on Bellaβs side throughout BD?
These antis act like Rosalie is an actual human being instead of a literal fictional creation by Meyer. Meyer is the one who made gave Rosalie these traits, the good, the bad, and the ugly. These people do not understand the way fiction works.
βRosalie Was Just Respecting Bellaβs Autonomy!!!!1β
So thereβs clearly a bit of a double standard at play here.
When Rosalie doesnβt want Bella to become a vampire, these fans interpret it as her wanting Bella to have βinformed consentβ in making this very drastic change. A kind of sisterly advocacy, as it were.
The problem with this is that Edward doesnβt want Bella to become a vampire for the exact same reasons. And for him, we do get canon confirmation:
βBella, you donβt know. Iβve had almost ninety years to think about this, and Iβm still not sure.β (Twilight, 474).
Edward fears Bella would regret becoming a vampire and come to resent it like Rosalie, even despite finding Emmett. He also feels Bella doesnβt have the necessary information to undergo the transformation. But his stance is taken by the anti fandom as Edward being a patronizing control freak. Never mind that Rosalie also says the exact same thing:
βYouβre too young to know what youβll want in ten years, fifteen yearsβand too young to give it all up without thinking it through. You donβt want to be rash about permanent things, Bella." She patted my head, but the gesture didnβt feel condescending. (Eclipse, 167).
Rosalie and Edward both agree that Bella shouldnβt be a vampire, but while Rosalie is framed by her fans as rational, Edward is demonized as being controlling. The difference is that Rosalie does resent Bella for her choice, while Edward doesnβt hold it against her. He understands why and would love to be with Bella forever.
As for Rosalie prioritizing the fetus because thatβs what Bella wants her to do...I think there is plenty of canonical evidence Rosalie would have wanted Bella to have the child even if Bella decided not to. Like, the one chance Bella would have at being a mother...! Fortunately for her and their sister relationship, Bella did choose to have Renesmee.
Edward literally calls himself a monster every couple of pages in Midnight Sun, and yet Rosalie is the only one βkeeping it real.β
Actually, Rosalie doesnβt call herself or her family monsters, not even once. She shows that she doesnβt mind killing, if for a very good reason. What she seems to object the most is her desire to have children and grow old with her family. Very trad wife coded.
This would be great...if we had any canon evidence that Rosalieβs pro-Bella-having-her-baby stance was fueled by Bellaβs right to exercise her autonomy.
But the fact remains that for the bulk of this series, Rosalie did not accept nor validate Bellaβs own choice in becoming a vampire. Like Edward, she assumed that Bella was throwing her life away, and she would come to regret it. Unlike Edward, she blamed Bella for this and took out her resentment on her.
You could interpret the BD drama as Rosalie liking the fact that Bella would be staying human for longer and choosing a very human condition. But per Jacob and Edward, who confirms it, she is mostly on Bellaβs side for the baby. Jacobβs POV dislikes her, true, but only because Rosalie is 1) a vampire and 2) racist towards him. Also, 3) Rosalie is obviously living vicariously through Bella in having her baby, and it rubs Jacob raw, precisely because Bella is suffering so much.
Meyer is often assumed to be pro-life just because sheβs a Mormon. But her choice to pivot to Jacobβs pro-abortion POV and paint Rosalie as (mostly) selfishly baby-centered and depict it as a flaw is probably more telling of her actual views. Either that, or Meyer is a writer first and foremost, and she is devoted to telling the whole truth of a character, no matter if it contradicts her own views.
too many stories about turning yourself into a monster as a metaphor for pretending to be something you aren't and losing yourself in the process. not enough stories about turning yourself into a monster as a metaphor for choosing to openly embrace yourself even if it's strange to other people

One of the most unrealistic things in the Twilight Saga is the vampires and wolves. You guys know that, right?

it's so jarring in the year 2025 to hear normal people still refer to twilight like it's THE prime example of a dark stalker taboo fucked up romance novel. you mean the book where the main couple wears matching beige sweaters to go lay in a field of wildflowers??
Just stumbled across these. It seems that the fandom is expanding. That or the antis have become even more vocal as twilights recent uptick in popularity grows. I think because each year when twilight gets added to Netflix or some other popular streaming service it introduces a whole new set of fans into the fandom.
And who better to get them initiated in the art of shitting on something you claim you're a fan of other than #Twiltok. Heck even one of twilight's most ill-informed and obsessed gen-xer sarah elizabeth talks has even written a book to profit off of twilight and the bad faith critiques she gives. There's been some very interesting posts and comments lately.
I also love how they have to include and attach mormomism to Twilight even in random comment sections that have nothing to do with Twilight. It's like they're so gleeful to not only berate the series and author but will also lie and make up stuff if they have to even if disguising it as some moral and ethical critique. Racism is another one of their favorite go tos. Trying to implicate Stephenie Meyer in not only writing racist literature but also purposefully incorporating it into her lore and worldbuilding. They're projecting their own racism unto her and having a superiority complex from it. Thus showing their own ass and implicit biases. Its just too funny man. That whole shapeshifter vs skinwalker convo a prime example.

as a psychotic person myself I get kind of annoyed with people feeling the need to find some kind of supernatural "explanation" for Bella's hallucinations in New Moon. some people actually just do experience transient, stress-based psychosis.
if you want to say that you think it would be more effective thematically for the cause to be something supernatural, then that's one thing, but why act like it somehow isn't "realistic" or doesn't "make sense" for someone to experience psychosis? real people experience psychosis all the time.
me in the spring sun
it's been almost 5 years since midnight sun and I still can't get over how many people were apparently SHOCKED to read the first chapter and discover that edward (the vampire protagonist in the vampire novel) does in fact long to murder people and drink their blood
"you know, midnight sun (the VAMPIRE novel about the VAMPIRE who is cursed with the lust to suck all the blood out of his true love) would actually make a great horror novel, too bad all the horror is simply there by accidentβ girl what.

βtwilight vampires are so lame they sparkle in the sunπ€£π€£π€£β have you considered that other vampires just burn and die
I hope the next ~Twilight Reimagined~ is just Twilight from Jasperβs POV and heβs keeping a mood journal on Edwardβs behalf.
Just a daily log of the roller coaster that is that boyβs emotional state, complete with commentary: βhis aura was absolutely rancid today. Loathing (probably at himself), jealous paired with confusion (does he not know heβs jealous?), and of course the usual vacillation between smugness and chagrin as he struggles to talk to the human girl. Never have I so acutely bemoaned the loss of my ability to get drunk.β
I used to think Bella was so dramatic in new moon but now that I'm older I get it .... because my girl finally felt like she belonged somewhere, she had a hot boyfriend taking care of her and making her feel like a teenager when she has spent her whole life parenting her own parents, having amazing in-laws, a best friend......
and then EVERYONE LEAVES AS IF THEY NEVER EXISTED!!!! All of Bella's insecurities and fears came true, so she was valid for everything she did and I think she should have broken every window in the Cullen house.
I make my own twilight jewelry and like to use these little pendants as bookmarks. Iβm still trying to find the best glue to use that doesnβt create this sheen, but I love them regardless β€οΈ
omg i love this! this is what im talking about. twilight fans making more cool stuff like this other than the usual lazy "ironic" crafts
