⚔ - Suisenko wants to kick some booty.
The courtyard was swelling with tension…
Of course Subetei would be the type of man to leap at the chance to spar with one of his subordinates, and of course there were few so reckless as to risk it. Especially here, in the Beds, where the proximity to the Shroud risked angering the Elementals…
That meant nothing to Subetei, who had told Suisenko to wait outside in the courtyard. He routinely cursed the Elementals with every fiber of his being and took incredibly complicated routes to avoid direct travel in the Shroud, where his flippancy and outright disdain for the Wood had resulted in more than a few close calls.
Still, he surely couldn’t be taking this too seriously. She was a subordinate of his, a valued employee of the Garden and a woman, so those gathered in the Garden’s yard expected something simple. Friendly sparring between two respected comrades.
Doubtlessly, many of them were well aware of the true faces of their coworkers, however. Suisenko was no winnowing flower, a veteran of her own battles and lifestyle, and Subetei…
Well, Subetei’s boot collided with the Garden’s front double doors in a resounding way, scattering several collected souls. Edri and Maskers both went sprawling off their feet, Edri landing on their side in the dirt and Maskers quickly bowling over Khloe, who now occupied the ground with a prone man on her lap. One might think they were all indignant and ready to retaliate, but the collective three quickly thought better of it.
Subetei was wearing his full warcoat, dense leathers and hides layered with fur and steel scaling on the sides, with his most imposing axe. Saw-patterned teeth and a heavy head on the back for hammering, Subetei had it flung over his shoulder with a grin.
Somewhere to the side, Neyuki was burying her face in her hands as her mate strode out into the courtyard. Oh he was definitely taking this seriously, and given the swagger in his step at the spectacle there was no doubt he intended to try and win the spar. Only Khloe stood from the ground, fists balled indignantly but one of the other spectators slowly pulled her back, shushing her.
No one really wanted to get inbetween Subetei and Suisenko who, herself, seemed to be radiating a rather malicious presence at Subetei’s clear intent as they faced down on each other. Maskers tried to stand, slipping on a patch of dirt, and his butt thudding the ground sent the sparring duo flying into each other to the horrified bewilderment of the collected crowd.
