i am going to actively choose to ignore the canon of the diamonds being born at the same time and the same age being 20'000 years olds because it just. does not make sense to me.
while they could just be dramatic and overexaggerating (like usual ā as diamonds do), they keep saying eons and millennia as if theyre actually older than 20'000 thousand years old and even yellow says 6k was nothing to spinel š (even other gems frequently use eons / millennia too)
they have an obvious family dynamic going on, white performing the role of an overbearing grandmother (well thats the closest role she fulfills so far, gems dont really work like that) and bellow representing parents on different sides of the asshole spectrum raising their child (pink), its weird to see them all being the same age
it just makes alot more sense yk?? white, born from the light of a dying star and whose first (figurative) breath cracks deep faults in a planet that will soon be dead, ancient and all-knowing and yet knew nothing at the same time, just the instinct to create and make something she deemed perfect.
and so she makes her first attempts, smelling of ozone and a chill that mists the air; yellow and blue emerges into existence, further boring holes in a breaking celestial body, eyes bright with the same instincts to uphold and create something, and they do, for a several millennias, they create the lives of followers birthed from the sapping life of organics
but its still not enough; theres something imperfect and gnawing that seeks to threaten this built perfection and white does what she usually does about things outside her control, she creates.
and so pink emerges, eyes shining with a different kind of light, small and knowing nothing of those purposes they are all born with,
shes effectively a child, a blank slate that needs to be taught.
so they raise her, it goes as well as you would think and the canon events of steven universe takes place after this, ik lars in the stars will definitely include their origins but unless im provided with something better than this ill just gonna stick to my headcanon
