HOW TO USE THIS ARCHIVE
This compilation of nearly 100 pictures and 6 texts were collected from the volumes of the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society (JGLS) housed in the Widener Library at Harvard University. This digital archive potentially includes every depiction of Romani architecture in the JGLS from 1888 until 1968. I have searched for these images within the valuable and vast collections made by folklorists over several decades in the journal. This digital archive wants to make this “hidden” material accessible to other scholars and the general public.
The archive uses tags to relate pieces of content and facilitate comparative analysis. Click the name of a photograph on its bottom left corner. This will open a page with the tags associated to that specific photograph (year, place, type of architecture, medium...). Click in any of those tags to explore the collection of similar documents.
