If Daeron is Baelor and Maekar’s first born then he was named to try and appease Daeron II because you know their dad was so mad when Maekar turned up pregnant. Baelor’s been widowed maybe a year, maybe eighteen months. He’s twenty-seven. His little brother is eighteen — his former squire, his second in command at Red Grass Field, his anvil, his pup, his sweetling with pox marked cheeks and the Targaryen hair long around his shoulders and blood oozing down his thighs from the quim that’s opening between his legs. Baelor knew, objectively, that Maekar was going to be an omega. The maesters told the family years ago when his perinium started to swell and split. He knew when Maekar’s scent slowly starts to shift — becoming pleasant, milky, perhaps a touch ashen or cool and earthy like forest earth after an autumn rain or a misty morning out hunting. But that was before Jena died; before they’d fought a war; before Baelor became hand of the king; before he saw Daemon — his friend Daemon — turn traitor and Brynden — more like a brother than an uncle — bed bound with his lost eye after battle, Shiera curled around his feverish head. How many men are dead? Thousands. And Baelor’s nose in broken. But he doesn’t need to be able to smell to know that Maekar is bleeding through his underclothes, hiding in Baelor’s tent, having scrubbed himself pink after the battle — he’s sitting in Baelor’s bed. He can see the blood. He can see almost every inch of his brother. There’s bruises on his shins and one on his ribs. Baelor just had to lay shrouds over Daemon’s twelve year old sons’ corpses and order guards posted to ensure they aren’t desecrated. He’s exhausted. He can admit he wants an omega — something wet and hot to slake himself in — a whore in their twenties with red or blond hair, pleasured, paid handsomely and sent off with moon tea. Not a virginal little brother in pain, scared and pleading for some comfort. But Maekar proves himself sweet — testy yes but pliant once Baelor’s bent him over the bed and broken his hymen on three fingers — limp, floaty and purring once he’s broken Maekar properly on his knot, calm once the younger man is curled on his side with Baelor draped around him, massaging his lower back and sucking a bruise on his bonding gland.
They hide it from Daeron. Maybe Maekar is promised to Dyanna. Maybe they know they won’t be allowed to marry. Maybe the entire kingdom knows but Daeron is desperately denying it and planning other marriages for the both of them — maybe, in this case, Baelor is still in Maekar’s bed every night, one hand clasped over Maekar’s mouth so the servants sleeping outside the door can’t hear his moans. They both know their duties to the family, to the realm, to Aegon’s prophecy but when something moves in Maekar’s swollen belly, Baelor can’t stomach the idea of Maekar passing that little something — their pup, their precious pup they made in grief and love and desperation— off as someone else’s.

This is so fucking cute I'm gonna cry
Shout out to Baelor and Maekar, who on paper are some of the least incestous Targaryens, a factoid overshadowed by the level to which they act like a married couple and uncle-fathered each other's kids so hard it made all their Problems and Issues worse. You can see that enmeshment from space <3
... so i found out that bones don't disintegrate in funeral pyres and this idea wouldnt leave me alone.
my favorite hammeranvil is not them being in love as children or even as teenagers, but when they are adults. and i mean well into adult hood, after maekar is widowed, and even past that.
let's say baelor survives ashford, and then emotions start to fester. they're grown men now, having pushed away their emotions for one another for years because they know it's wrong. they ask themselves if they were targaryens, would they love one another. their own father tried so hard to ensure that there was no intrafamily relationships to the point where he praised the thought that he had all boys, because that could never happened.
but now thigns are different. daeron the good dies and baelor becomes king, and maekar is his hand, and they try their best to ignore the magnitude of feelings that have plagued them for the past decade. nothing is stopping them, nor preventing them to act on it. it is just their own moral code, their own push and pull, and their own love for each other that hurts so much they can hardly breathe around the other.
...just like you.

Blind-Amnesia widowers Omegaverse idea
I’ve seen aus where Baelor has amnesia after the trial or is blind but what about an AU with both.
He doesn’t remember the trial or Maekar or his sons or nephews. But obviously this omega who smells lovely and holds his hand while threatening to kill him if he doesn’t wake up must be his mate. Not to mention the fact that they smell like each other and the insane number of teenagers and children that keep visiting smell like both of them (inbred) must be theirs. And why else would he keep clothing in his night stand that had clearly been used by the omega when he was in heat.
Maekar is shocked and dealing with Baelor’s blindness and missing memories the best he can all the while glaring at his children like don’t you fucking tell him otherwise. Because really he had cried as a boy when his father arranged for Baelor to marry Jena. He feared every new omega would push their way into Baelor’s heart.
Baelor has been secretly dying inside to make Maekar his mate since Dyanna died but he doesn’t want to rush his grieving brother after all he had years to grief Jena. But he doesn’t remember this and just blindly keeps trying to get Maekar into bed.-literally-
HAMMERANVIL IDEA:
Ok, so imagine:
Aerion has gotten into some trouble, he's done something, he's hurt someone, anything.
And Baelor is at his limit. He all but drags his youngest brother to a private chamber to have a long overdue conversation (argument) about Aerion's behaviour and Maekar's leniency towards him.
Maekar knows that whatever Aerion has done is unacceptable, even so, he tries to defend his son as he always does.
But Baelor cannot take it this time. He's angry.
Angry at Aerion for being such a despicable being. Angry at his little brother for not having a steadier hand on him and for not reprimanding his wrong-doings.
Maekar can't seem to reason with Baelor and asks him what about Aerion is so terrible (Maekar has never seen his older brother this angry before) and Baelor goes off.
He starts listing everything he hates about Aerion.
How loud and crass he is, how wicked he is with his blunt and vulgar words to all those around him. How he's too vindictive and how he can see no fault in himself, even when he's clearly in the wrong.
How he seems so happy with all the blatant cruelty and despicable acts he commits.
Belor just lists everything he dislikes about Aerion, and Maekar freezes.
As he listens to his brother rant, all he can think about is how each word he uses to describe Aerion is a reflection of his own self.
Maekar sees all the flaws his brother just named as traits he himself has. Traits he must've passed onto his son while raising him.
And he has a chilling thought.
About how maybe, if he were a better man, a better father and role model, Aerion would've turned out differently, less violent and cruel.
Another part of his treacherous mind comes to the conclusion that since Baelor hates all these traits on his son, he must hate Maekar as well.
Maeker apologises and promises to speak to Aerion, and he leaves. That seems to calm Baelor down.
Maekar rushes to his chambers, overcome with emotion. And embarrassingly, cries at the thought of Baelor genuinely hating him. He cannot stand the thought of it.
Days pass and Baelor starts to notice.
Maekar has been avoiding him, something he has never done. They usually spend most of their time together, either in council meetings or off doing other princely duties.
Most of said duties are only expected of Baelor as heir to the throne. However, he had grown used to Maekar joining in his duties anyways. Wherever Baelor was, Maekar was usually not far behind.
But now, Baelor finds himself alone, he sits through council meetings, his eyes sometimes wandering to the empty seat beside him, wondering if he's done something to cause such a sudden void and absence from his younger brother.
This goes on for several days, and Baelor's demeanor takes a turn for the worse.
He is still polite and courteous to those around him, however, there seems be a sort of tension around him now, his gaze a bit too dark, his answers a bit too clipped when addressing the lords.
It reaches a point where guards and servants steer clear of the prince when they see him walking around the palace grounds, a visible frown on his usually serene face.
Baelor eventually crosses paths with Maekar in a lone hallway and he tries to speak with him, but his brother all but bolts in the opposite direction.
And Belor just....
Snaps.
Again.
He barges into his brother's room and demands to know why he's avoiding him, what he has done to deserve Maekar's indifference.
Maekar apologises softly and tells him he did not want to inconvenience or bother him with his presence.
And Baelor hates this. Hates how gentle and soft and apologetic Maekar is being.
His brother, who usually walks into any room like he owns it, who always speaks his mind and who doesn't mind if others find his words offensive.
How defiant he is in his beliefs and how he always stands with pride, with no fear in his eyes, even when the one he's against is Baelor.
The fire in his eyes. It's breathtakingly beautiful.
Not this.
His brother does not hold his tounge. He does not comply or try to bend himself to comfort those around him. Especially not Baelor.
Baelor doesn't know what this is but he wants it to stop. He wants his Maekar back.
He eventually realises that Maekar thinks Baelor hates him due to the conversation they had about Aerion all those days ago.
He comforts his brother, trying to quell any doubts in his mind. He loves Maekar, every single thing about him.
This pleases Makar and things do eventually go back to normal.
But Maekar doesn't understand why Baelor hates Aerion if they're the same.
Baelor doesn't have the heart to tell Maekar that, while they do share some traits as father and son, Aerion is nothing like him.
Maekar is good, and Baelor sometimes wonders how someone as good as his brother, spawned such an evil entity like Aerion.
-------------------
Anyways, what do you think?
I like the idea of Baelor being a bit of a hypocrite and kind of biased when it comes to Maekar.
Like, that's his perfect little brother who can do no wrong.
He sees Maekar the same way Maekar sees Aerion, and loved one who cannot truly do any wrong.
Xxxxxxx
This can be either Fem-verse or Omegaverse BUT!!! Hammeranvil, Dunkaerion, Valearon and Stagapple! Maekar, Daeron, Aerion and Raymun all have their memories from the future given back to them during the Ashford Tourney (Raymun was proposed to by Lyonel but marrying the Baratheon would mean losing the New Barrel Lordship so they said no). They quickly realize that THEY all remember the future, Aerion straight up tells Maekar “I’m going to find the Hedge Knight to have him fuck me) and they all remeber Maegor and how he was SLIGHTLY bigger than most people. Maekar wants to LEAVE! Having killed Baelor and becoming King and dealing with the Blackfyres, Maekar is done with this shit. Daeron is in the same boat and Raymun knows that no Trial of Seven will mean no New Barrel Lordship or the eyes of Lyonel on them.
So! They all just….go and sleep with each of their beloved throughout the ENTIRE tourney. It’s dirty, filthy and nasty. Aerion and Duncan are fucking by the elm tree, in the river and anywhere Aerion finds Duccan-wanting to try and conceive Maegor NOW. Maekar finally seduces Baelor and they fuck in Baelor’s rooms every night and morning; Maekar always submitting to Baelor since HE is the most into it. Daeron is in Valarr’s pavilion on the arena and usually gives the other a blowjob or a quickie before Valarr is called to joust. Raymun went straight up to Lyonel and said ‘I wanna blow you’ and the rest is history. And then….they vanish. They changed EVERYTHING, so Maekar-being the parent-says they are all going to Lys where Aerion found Saera Targaryen’s secret stash of money and will live there! Raymun is forced to come too, because it was VERY obvious that they were sleeping with Lyonel and Steffon had promised pain.
Only…3 years later, with Duncan as a Kingsguard since he claimed to be ‘Baelor’s Man’ when someone heckled him for his ‘incesteous ways’ (everyone knew he was banging Maekar and had been WANTING TO for YEARS) and he punched him unconscious; they ALSO get their memories back. AND THEY ARE PISSED. All of them know the others slept with them because THEY too remember and the men want them BACK. Ironically it’s Duncan who figures it out, Aerion always spoke of dressing in Saera’s jewelry and imagining how Duncan would ravish him in it. So in three months they are in Lys and looking for them.
Valarr and Baelor find Maekar and Daeron in their bath, both shocked when Baelor remarks that ‘Maekar’s strike with a mace was always true’ and Valarr saying ‘You never left me even in the end’; one would think the other would be happy that their beloved remembered…they aren’t. They are freaked out and scared. They try to escape; but Baelor and Valarr capture them and decide to do some Valyrian bonding by ravishing their beloved bodies right next to one another. Nothing like father son bonding time by having sex with the ones you love and are obsessed with.
Duncan comes into Aerion’s rooms, dressed in his Kingsguard gear; which had always turned Aerion on horribly. Aerion knew it was a possibility that Duncan would remember and Duncan cuts the shit, asking where Maegor is. Aerion says it never took, and that they’ve spent years coming to terms they’d never have their son again. Duncan states he’s here now. Aerion smiles before saying that that cloak stays on. It’s obvious Lyonel found Raymun if the moans and gasps from the OTHER SIDE of the Home is any indication.
I have more…but I need to refine it…..tee-heee.
once more, Baelor x Maekar omegaverse au
in which after their wives died Baelor asked the King for Maekar's hand in marriage, but ultimately got declined
yet they had an affair with each other, Baelor would travel to Summerhall just to see Maekar, or they would meet discreetly halfway in some inns like forbidden lovers, even if they're two grown men
ultimately, Baelor got tired of waiting for their fathers death and decided to ask Maekar to run away and elope with him in secret on Dragonstone, but then the King decided to send them all to Ashford, interfering with Baelor's plans
then the tournament and the Trial happens, Baelor survives, but his relationship with Maekar doesn't, and it's because of two things
Maekar is feeling guilty, thinking that he almost killed his brother, and shouldn't be around him anymore to keep Baelor safe + let's sprinkle something more here and say that Maekar is pregnant but decided to keep it for himself
because it's been years of him and Baelor sleeping around in secret and he lost all his hope that Baelor will ever ask for his hand, he's feeling like a dirty little secret, unworthy of his brother's mark, but at the same time he still agrees to those secret meetings because he's in love okay 😭
so it's Maekar who puts and end to this
he remains alone at Summerhall, ignoring letters from his family, and also preparing for his new baby in secret (should I twist his kids in there all being worried about him?) (and maybe a little Valarr x Daeron?)
Baelor is heartbroken, because he's not at all mad at Maekar, he's glad his brother, his omega is so strong, and even after months of silence he's still sending letters to Summerhall, and also he's regretting that he obeyed their father instead of claiming Maekar when he first wanted to
it all unwinds over a year after Ashford, when the King dies and Baelor is to ascend the Throne
the family is expected to be there for the funeral and coronation, so Maekar takes his remaining Maekarlings and they go to King's Landing (let's say Egg joins them on the Road, and idk about Aerion, would he be able to get back from Lys in time?)
of course people start talking the moment Maekar and his crew arrive at the Keep, because now he has a little baby at his hip, and his wife has been long gone (people are even speculating that it's not his pup but Daeron's or Aerion's, and he claimed him to protect them) (the baby has def Baelor's eyes tho) (and it's named either Baela or Maelor because Maekar is not subtle 😭)
Baelor is chasing, Maekar is avoiding, yet they stand together at the funeral, and Baelor insists Maekar is always sat at his right, even during the coronation (wait can he say that Maekar should crown him or?)
but before Baelor is crowned, there's a feast ig because that's necessary for the plot, and during the said feast Baelor's heard some people talking about Maekar, calling him and his sons whores, wondering if any of his kids is even legitimate, and Baelor is like naaaah don't you dare, and before thinking this through he gets up
and lies to the whole hall, saying that he and Maekar had been married a few years now, all in Valyrian tradition, and the King was planning to organise a proper celebration and another wedding in faith of Seven, but then he fell ill and it was all postponed, but now that Baelor's coronation is coming soon, he decided to make it a joint event so that the Kingdom can finally celebrate their beautiful marriage and baby with them (bonus points if Valarr just stands up and is like, yeah I've been there with them, that's totally what happened, then the Maekarlings follow and also confirm)
Maekar is too stunned to speak
and everyone just buys this bullshit, whole hall is clapping and cheering, giving them congratulations like 😭
after that Maekar bursts into Baelor's chambers, asking if he had lost his mind
and Baelor finally confesses to him that he had been asking their father for Maekar's hand for years now but with no luck, and was planning to take him away and marry him at Dragonstone right before Ashford
then Maekar admits he thought it was nothing serious for Baelor, like just a fling, and he was so guilty and scared after the Trial that he thought it will be better if he just remained away at Summerhall
and then they kiss ig? and get married in next few days, and no one is questioning this 😭
HAMMERANVIL FIC IDEA (Sad):
Ok so imagine:
________________________
After the trial of 7 ends, and Baelor removes his helmet, he instantly collapses into a coma, the blow from Maekar's mace didn't do enough damage to crack his skull. However, he does fall into a coma.
Days pass in Ashford, as Maekar tries (and fails) to keep his composure. He stays at his brother's side day and night, waiting for updates from the Maesters as to any signs that his brother might wake soon.
Several more days pass and the masters advise that Prince Baelor is physically fine, he had a small concussion but should have woken up by now.
Maekar sends a letter to the King and Queen, advising on their heirs current state. He makes preparations to travel back to Kingslanding with Baelor in a carriage.
(Since Baelor isn't dead, Duncan agrees to travel back with Egg and the kingsguard, Aerion isn't sent to Lys just yet, they all make their way back to Kingslanding.)
After travelling for days, with no sign of Baelor waking up, the finally reach the Red keep.
Masters stand ready as Baelor is taken to his chambers to be examined. Maekar is summoned by King Daeron.
He arrives and explains in detail what transpired in Ashford. Unfortunately, both Daeron and Myriah blame Maekar for Baelor's current state and send him to a guest chamber until further notice. (So he's like under house arrest with guards outside his door.)
Days pass and Maekar isn't allowed to leave or receive any news on his brother's wellbeing.
Egg and Duncan visit him often, but they never have any news as it seems only the Maesters and Queen Myriah are allowed near Baelor.
One day, Maekar hatches a plan to sneak out and see Baelor for himself, if only for a moment.
Perhaps he bribes a kingsguard (who probably just pities the prince) into letting him slip out for an hour. Maekar rushes through secret passages of the keep to reach Baelor's room.
Once there, in the cover of darkness, Maekar slowly approaches his brother's bed. He watches the slow rise and fall of his chest breathing and lets out a sigh of relief. He doesn't seem any worse than the last time he saw him.
Maker reaches out to hold Baelor's hand but a cold voice makes him freeeze. He raises his gaze and sees his mother, sat in a dark corner, watching him.
He has never seen her look so dishevelled, her eyes swollen, her hair not neatly tucked. She doesn't look as though shes gotten any rest in days.
Maekar feels guilty and tries to comfort her.
Queen Myriah stands and walks past him, ignoring his words. She sits by Baelor's side and strokes his cheek.
She speaks, never taking her gaze off of Baelor.
She tells him what the maesters have been saying for weeks, that there is nothing wrong with him, there is no clear reason as to why he remains asleep.
She admits to her worries, what if he never wakes up?, What if he does wake up, but wrong? Will he be able to continue his duties as heir to the throne? Or had the blow Maekar delivered left his brain devoid of any sense.
Maekar watches as his mother crumbles and starts to cry, she finally turns to look at Maekar and he feels small under her gaze.
She looks at him with hatred.
With anger, the pain and agony of a mother struggling to understand her own grief.
She says something that shatters Maekar's heart.
How deep down a mother could never love anything as much as her first-born child. How she would never forgive him should Baelor not wake up.
And finally, in a soft whisper as she turns to look back at her son, how she wished it had been Maekar in Baelor's stead.
Maekar had always known he was his mother's least favourite. He had known all his life. And even now, as he slowly stepped back, he didn't blame her. She was drowning in grief, she would most likely forget the words that cut him so deeply.
Maekar turns and leaves the Queen at her son's side. He walks through the empty starlit halls of the keep and finally reaches the royal library.
He looks through ancient texts, for something. Anything thta may bring his brother back, to no avail. He almos gives up when he hears the great door creak open. He sees his brother, Rhaegal walk in.
They were never particularly close, Maekar always found his odd behaviour and fragility something he used to avoid.
They sit together and talk. They talk for hours about everything and nothing. Whne the sun starts to rise, Maekr feels a great weight has lifted off his shoulders.
Rhaegal hugs him and gives him an old looking scroll before drifting away, to where? Maekar does not ask. He looks at the old valyrian scroll in his hands and opens it.
Inside, there seems to be an answer to his prayers. A way to wake his brother. Old Valyrian Dragon-blood magic.
Maekr spends the entire day reading through thes scrolls and comes to a shuddering conclusion.
Baelor seems to be in a sort of inbetween world. Not dead, but also not alive. Maekar discovers that to bring him back to the land of the living, an exchange of equal value must be made.
That night, Maekar visits Baelors chambers once more. Myriah is sitting diligently at his side. She does not turn to address him.
Maekar walks up and takes Baelor's hand. He leans down and presses a kiss on his brow.
He stands and looks at Myriah. He tells her not to worry. That he has found a way to bring Baelor back.
Myriah does not seem to take heed of his words, simply turning her back to him as she watches Baelor sleep.
Maekar looks at the two of them and whispers that he loves them before leaving.
He visits each of his children's chambers. Coming in and pressing a kiss on each ones head before whispering his 'I love you's' and farewells.
Once he's done, he returns to his chambers and makes preparations for the ancient ritual.
He arranges everything, the small alter in the centre of the room, the proper runes and symbols drawn up, the necessary herbs and minerals aquired and the proper chant recited from his own lips as he draws his blood as an offering.
Hours pass and once the sun rises, the bells of the keep ring loud.
The prince has finally awoken.
Joy and cheer can be felt throughout the keep and the kingdom at the wonderful news of Baelor's return to the land of the living.
Queen Myriah sobs and thanks the gods above for bringing her son back to her.
Throughout the day, Baelor receives visits from every member of his family, the king, his sons, and his nephews.
He worries when he realises Maekar has yet to visit him. Egg fills him in on his confinement to his chambers and Baelor is angry to say the least.
He would never blame his dearest brother for an accident that was out of his control.
He demands Maekar be brought to him, threatening to crawl to him if he must.
Queen Myriah rises and tells him to rest. She will go and release Maekar from confinement so that he may visit him. This calms Baslor down somewhat.
Myriah walks through the palace grounds with a smile and relief at Baelor's sudden miraculous return. She vaguely remembers Maekar saying something about everything being alright. He must've been right.
As Queen Myriah knocks on Maekar's door, nothing can be heard from inside. After a moment of waiting she enters without invitation.
The room is dark and suffocating. Myriah heads towards the window to open the curtains blocking the morning light from entering.
She starts speaking in an animated tone, about how Baelor is awake. How he's safe and healthy and how he wishes to see him.
Myriah turns to the well lit room and freezes, the gentle smile on her face vanishing in a moment.
A few feet away from where she had just walked lays her son.
Maekar lies motionless on the floor, he looks pale. Paler that any Targaryen should. And he is so still, too still.
Queen Myriah calls out his name softly. She walks to his side swiftly and tries to shake him awake, but he remains still and unresponsive. She shakes again, and again to no avail.
She keeps shaking , caling out for Maekar to wake up, and stops when she doesn't feel a pulse. She can't feel his heartbeat.
Myriah doesn't feel the tears steaming down her face. She doesn't hear her screams of agony alerting nearby guards who rush to the scene.
She holds onto her son's lifeless body as they try to pry her away from him. She just holds him tighter as she screams.
He's dead.
Her son.....her baby is dead. The pain in her soul is incomprehensible.
A funeral is held the same day of Prince Baelor's miraculous awakening.
Maekar is burnt on the pyre and the cries of grieving parents, siblings and children echo throughout the winds.
Years later, stories amongst the common folk say that Prince Maekar had died with a smile upon his usually stoic face, having willingly given his soul to the ancient gods for the return of Prince Baelor's.
________________________________
So.....I didn't really know to end that but anywho, what'dya think??
I really like this concept, especially when it comes to the relationship between Myrian and Maekar.
I think iy just came from that whole discussion of Lyonel's comment to Baelor about being the Queens favourite.
And as someone with some mommy issues of her own, I can 100% say that I loved writing this with Myriahs perspective in mind.
When people are grieving they say all sorts of things they regret when it's too late.
I feel like Maekar dying in any scenario wold shake up the world in any way. His family would be devastated. Baelor would probably blame himself.
But yeah. The end xx
wtf am i doing.....hammeranvil in Qin Dynasty costume
baelor was always sweet on maekar
Baekar AU were Baelor survives
But he ends up being totally blind BECOUSE OF ANGSTY
Baekar/Hammeranvil idea:
Tension in the Red Keep keeps rising between Daeron II and Aegon IV. He's had 3 kids, all of which resemble the Dornish folk more than Aegon's own Targaryen bastards.
When Maekar is born, with silver hair and amethyst eyes, Aegon IV immediately favours him, and treats him as his only pure grandchild.
Over the years, Aegon IV only shows favouritism towards Maekar and has no issue loudly claiming his resentment for his other grandchildren.
Baelor doesn't mind much for his grandsire, though he does worry how much it affects his mother and father.
Aerys and Rhaegal also pay him little heed, each absorbed in their own interests.
Maekar grows up enjoying being pampered by his grandfather. However, over time he realises just how badly is brother's are treated compared to him and tries to keep his distance.
Maekar loves his family and hates whenever he is made to hear all the horrible comments and remarks Aegon IV makes about his brother's, he's especially harsh on Baelor.
More years pass, and while Maekar tries to keep his distance, Aegon IV always summons him when he wishes to see him. Maekar sucks it up and tries to get through their interactions as quickly as possible.
On one particular day, Maekar is summoned to his grandfather's chambers. Baelor sees how unhappy Maekar is when he's summoned and offers to go with him, which brings him a small sense of relief.
They visit Aegon IV together, but when they arrive, Aegon forbids Baelor's entrance, he only wishes to see Maekar.
Baelor promises to wait outside until Maekar is ready to leave.
Once to two are alone, Aegon begins his usual speech about his pure blood and the difference between him and his siblings. Maekar simply nods along, barely paying attention, hoping to leave soon.
A hand suddenly reaches out and settles on his thigh. Maekar almost jumps at the sudden touch. He looks up in alarm.
Aegon looks at him with a strange glint in his eyes. He keeps talking, listing off all of Maekar's tagaryen traits.
He goes a step further though, his grip tightens as he tells Maekar he's grown into his looks, he tells him how beautiful he looks, like an old valyrian prince should.
Maekar makes some rushed excuse and leaves as soon as he's broken free from his grandsire's grip.
Once he leaves the room, Baelor is waiting for him, asking if he's alright. Maekar is confused and frightened, and doesn't know how to explain what happened. He feels dirty, in a way.
So he says nothing.
Over the following weeks, Maekar keeps being summoned, but he refuses to go unaccompanied. His mother joins him, and when Aegon tries to dismiss her, Maekar is adamant she stay with him during their visits.
Aegon relents and does not act strangely or make odd comments in front of others.
Over time, Maekar calms and hopes their strange interaction was a singular uncomfortable moment never to happen again.
A celebration takes place in the keep, with lords from all the realm, and members of legitimised bastards families all in attendance. All of the kings mistresses are seated around like pretty decorations.
Maekar is enjoying the festivities with his siblings nearby and his parents in sight.
At the cusp of celebration, Aegon IV takes a heavy stand and makes an announcement.
He makes a half hearted speech about his dearly departed wife Queen Naerys. He talks about how heartbreaking it has been since her death.
Everyone knows it is a lie, given the amount of mistresses that surround him and illegitimate children dancing around.
He turns to Daeron and Myriah, and starts praising them for the upbringing of ALL their children. This shocks them and makes them wary immediately. They know something is amiss.
He smiles at them, a cruel stare. He turns his gaze to Maekar and smiles. He starts to especially praise them on their excellent upbringing with their youngest son.
Maekar shrinks into himself, he feels his grandsire's dark gaze on him and feels the way he did that day in his chambers. Dirty.
Aegon IV keeps speaking, he starts describing Maekar's Valyrian purity and appearance in graphic detail. The halls have become silent.
Everyone in attendance is uncomfortable at the King's incessant comments on the young prince's body.
Baelor starts to shake as he listens to Aegon speak, he becomes furious when his sees his sweet brother tear up in shame, he reaches out and pulls him close, as if trying to shield him from the man's perverted words.
By the time he's done, Aegon shifts his gaze from maekar back to the crowd.
He makes one final announcement.
He plans on remarrying and naming his next child as heir to the throne.
His new bride?
Maekar Targaeryn.
The hall is silent. The announcement is absurd. The king was old, and Prince Maekar was still far to young to even begin thinking about marriage.
Daeron II flies into a rage and all hell breaks loose.
The people are in an uproar, lords demanding for an explanation, Aegon IVs mistresses try to dissuade the king offering themselves as alternatives.
But Aegon IV simply shakes his head and smiles at Maekar with a predatory gleam.
Maekar starts to cry. He's overwhelmed. He shakes in his brothers arms.
Baelor has had enough. He hauls Markar up and rushes him to his chambers. They will deal with this catastrophic mess in the morning.
Over the coming days, the lords of the council try to change the king's mind, Daeron and Myriah and forbidden from approaching him, he claims they wish to sperate him from his intended.
Maekar refuses to leave Baelor's chambers, it is the only place in the Keep where he feels safe.
Baelor stays at his side at all times, refusing to let him out of sight, for fear of a guard or the king himself trying to snatch his brother away from him.
Myriah and Daeron try to find some way to interfere with Aegon's plans, even thinking of sending Maekar away, anywhere he will not be found.
A tense week passes, when a Royal proclamation is made to the common folk.
A wedding is to occur within the fortnight.
It is done.
The Keep is busy with servants and lords making preparations for a royal wedding. The atmosphere is sombre and everyone knows the situation is outrageous, even by Targaryen standards.
Many pity the young prince, some even pray for his safety under the King's future care.
Many times, Maekar is summoned to dress fittings and marital practice lessons, which he refuses to attend.
Baelor almost kills a Kingsguard that tries to grab and drag the prince out of the room.
Maekar is paranoid and terrified at the thought of having to marry his grandfather soon. He feels sick.
He can't stop thinking about the King's putrid gaze on his body, he feels disgusting. Dirty
Baelor holds him at night, and anger always rises when his sweetling cries and trembles into his chest.
Maeker tells him he doesn't want to marry Aegon IV, he's too young, and the man scares him to the bone.
He softly confesses that the only person he ever wants to marry is Baelor himself, once they are older.
Baelor whispers sweet nothings into his ears and promises he'll fix everything. Maekar falls asleep, still shaking in his brothers arms.
Baelor leaves Maekar for the fist time in days, making sure a trusted servant remains at his side until he returns.
He makes his way through the keep in the cover of darkness and breaches the King's chambers. Baelor sneaks up to his grandfather's bedside and holds a dagger to the man's neck.
Aegon wakes up confused and grins oncd he sess who it is, he immediately taunts Baelor. He knows he's been trying to hide his future bride away from him, it would prove useless soon.
The boy would be his and Baelor would have to watch as he took him away.
Baelor let's the man speak.
Aegon starts to threaten and mock him. He starts listing his dornish qualities as tainted blood.
Baelor listens for a moment then cuts him off.
He's let him demonize him for years, he's let him drag his and his family's name through the mud. He has always endured his taunts and poisonous comments. But he has gone too far this time.
Maekar was off limits, and Baelor was not going to let Aegon taint him with his depravity.
Aegon laughs and promises to have him executed after he has consummated his marriage with Maekar.
He lenas in and tells him the last thing he will ever see is his brother's spirit breaking and bending under his will.
Baelor doesn't let the man finish his degenerate speech.
He kills the pig in his bed.
He feels nothing as he watches his grandfather chock on his own blood, and eventually, watches the life drain painfully from his body.
Baelor cleans his dagger and makes his way back to his chambers, unnoticed. He dismisses his servant and climbs into bed, pulling his sweet brother into his embrace.
Maekar subconsciously nestles into him, and Baelor breathes him in.
He is safe now.
Baelor will always protect his Maekar.
Always.
The following day, the king's sudden death is announced. Though, it is delivered as an accident, a happenstance of the old king's declining health.
A sigh of relief washes over the entire keep. Daeron is named king before Aegon is even burnt.
All wedding preparations are cancelled and instead turn into a celebration for a new king's reign.
Maekar finally feels safe enough to leave Baelor's room, though he never strays far from his side.
Myriah embraces her youngest sons and lets him know all is well. They inform him of his grandsire's sudden passing.
Maekar is surprised but relieved at the thought of finally being free of the man.
They celebrate King Daeron's rise to the throne.
Baelor eventually pulls Maekar aside and takes him back to his chambers.
Maekar wonders what caused their grandsire's sudden death, but Baelor tells him not to worry too much about the how and why of the situation.
Baelor promised everything would be alright, and he was right. He is free to marry whoever he wishes when he comes of age. Maekar nods and blushes at the comment he had made the night before.
Once they reach his chambers, Maekar turns and pulls Baelor into a hug, he thanks him for looking after him, protecting him. Baelor holds him closes and swears to always do so.
Maekar leans in and places a gentle kiss on his cheek before rushing into his room, and slamming the door behind him.
Baelor stands in front of the closed door in awe.
A small smile appears on his face, he turns and walks away knowing Maekar is safe. He knows he made the right choice that night.
He crosses patch with his mother, and watches her watch him. He sees her heavy gaze and he knows. She knows what he has done.
She simply pulls him in and kisses his brow. She smiles and tells him she's proud of the man he's turning into. She leaves him be, clearly off looking for her dear husband.
Baelor watches her go, and turns towards his own chambers.
No.
He'll never regret his actions from that night.
He did his duty as a prince of the realm, and rid it of a great threat.
One day, when he became a better man yet, he would court Maekar properly, the way he deserved. And they would marry if he agreed, once they were both ready.

The End!
Ugh I hated writing about Aegon IV
But let me know what you think!
I like the HC that Maekar is Aegon's favourite since he has the most valyrian features out of all his siblings.
Baelor may have been the one who killed Aegon IV, but if he had shown up any later, you best believe him mother or father would've gotten the job done first.
I like to think the court is in a frenzy because, not only is Maekar extremely young here, it's also, not an ABO AU, soooo..... how the heck is he supposed to give the King heirs?! They conclude the King is just a pervert.
Maekar grows up safe and sound, never knowing Baelor killed their gransire for him.
They eventually get married, YEARS later, after Baelor insists on courting Maekar extensively. They marry in the way of the old gods on Dragonstone with their parents and siblings as witnesses.
And if you're asking yourself, how do Baelor and Maekar conceive children then? The answer is.....DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!
they have their 8 kids through valyrian magic or something (Baelor's seed is built different)
